Donut connection(formerly Mr. Donut) used to be delicious. Back in the day, the donuts were the best in town and the cranberry orange nut muffins were the best anywhere. I went there over the holidays and it was not up to par. The staff was super friendly and helpful, but the donuts holes and muffins were fresh, but the taste and quality were not there. I hope they take note and make changes. It’s so sad to see and old time favorite like this going down hill.

Sweet baby Jesus, I miss this place. The promised land… the eternal mecca of low-budget, indie, mom-and-pop donut and coffee heaven centered in one of the shittiest towns Pennsylvania has to offer. Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you: DONUTCONNECTION This place is absolutely amazing. I don’t even know where to start. Only schizophrenic old ladies work there. They are super nice and hilarious. There are beautiful, old-school 1950’s tables, stools, and counters. Smoking is allowed at the Donut Connection, which I something I dearly miss now that I reside in the Boston area. I could go on and on about how simply delightful this place is. They even have a sketchy drive thru. The speaker barely works requiring you to scream your order so the old lady can hear you. Everything is made fresh each morning in the kitchen adjacent to the front counter. Unbelievable mom-and-pop, homemade donuts, croissants, bagels, and muffins. A single massive donut is probably somewhere between 50 – 60 cents. The coffee was always absolutely perfect every time I had the pleasure to stop there. The chocolate iced coffee was some of the best iced that has ever crossed my lips, seriously. If you live in the Pittsburgh area, it’s most certainly worth the trip. Make sure to avoid the Washington mall across the street.
