The O.C. as the locals call it. One of the only places left in Wash Mo that you can hear a live band. Locals gather to drink and dance and the juveniles get into the typical drunk stupor and may get into a shoving match One night a guy wound up with a head wound and couldn’t recall what the hell might have happened. That being said… I like this place. But, I like music and bands, oh, and also beer. Saturday night around 11 it gets crowded. An old review mentioned the smoke… Not to worry friends, all of Washington is now smoke free! The owners really need to invest in better seating. The stools are so unstable I’m afraid to sit on them, I just know somebody is going to bust their ass someday from one of those rickety things. Oh, and the guy bartender can be a real doucher. So… If you are in town and in the 25 – 45 year old crowd, go have a drink and catch a good band. What else is there to go on a weekend night?

I have a lot of mixed feelings about the OC. I spent nearly every other saturday night at this place from 2006 to about 2010 hanging out with some combination of friends and family, and the overwhelming majority of my experiences have been great. I got into a friendly face-slapping contest with my friend Petra and had to explain to the bouncer that we were only kidding around, I had the time of my life dancing in and subsequently winning a dance/halloween costume contest a couple years ago dressed as an old man, complete with tennis-balled walker(see my photos)…all great times. Things keeping me from rating this a 5: — RAMPANT fighting… there’s even a sign displayed prominently on the windows in front that you will be banned for life on the first offense(again, see my pics). — Along those lines, chances are there are at least a few guys in there that are looking for an excuse to exorcise their personal anger demons… I’ve been approached there by guys I didn’t even know and told that they heard I had a problem with them… I’ve been shoved to the floor from behind for reasons that escape me… and so on. :P — Someone ganked my peacoat from the windowsill near the door when I had just bought it two weeks earlier… no coat check but I guess that’s what I get for wearing my coat from the car to the bar. — Oh and a couple years ago somebody was arrested for doing meth in the bathroom. Hooray for Franklin County! All that jankiness aside, I still love the place. Good live music pretty much every day, and it’s right across the street from The Landing(a Washmo institution) and John G’s Bier Deck(my favorite outdoor hangout in town).
