Marquarts Landing

Always a great time on the patio. Very few outdoor options in Washington. House salad and buffalo chicken sandwich are the best!

After waiting for twenty minutes, a waitress tossed a menu at me haphazardly without making eye contact. Fifteen more minutes passed and I hadn’t so much as given a drink order. So I suppose it’s time to see what else Washington has to offer.

Best Frisco melt i’ve ever had… got it on rye instead of sourdough. Smoked brisket sandwich was great too.

I have been there a total of 3x’s. Each time during lunch and were busy. No host, didn’t see a sign telling us to seat ourselves and no one greeted us all 3 occasions. All 3 times the food took a long time to reach the table. The servers seem a bit overwhelmed. The food however is good typical bar food. The patio is fantastic.

Met some friends here for lunch on Sunday. I got the blue cheese burger with bacon. The burger was outstanding and the bacon portions were size able. I also got the sweet potato fries which were quite tasty. The weather was great so we enjoyed sitting out on the patio. We also had the wings for an appetizer, and they were awesome. Definitely recommend this place.

The hubby and I met our friends Mr. and Mrs. M for lunch here today. They live out in Washington and had been here before. And with the beautiful, sunny weather, they knew this would be the perfect spot to sit on the patio!
We started off with some chicken wings as an appetizers. Mrs. M said the sauce was a little hot for her, but both of the guys loved it! Especially my husband!
I ordered a burger with pepper jack and bacon with a side of house-​made chips for my entrée. The burger was pretty big, the bacon was thick and there was some pretty decent flavor in there. The chips were thick, very crispy and mildly seasoned. I also tried my husband’s sweet potato fries — they were bland in comparison to the chips.
Heads up — service is on the slow side!

Went here for lunch on our way to Augusta, we were seated quickly and waters brought to us approximately 3 minutes after being seated. I ordered an iced tea and waited maybe 5 minutes for that anddddddd that was the last we saw of our waitress. After 20 – 25 minutes of looking around and being ignored I went to the bar tender so I could break a $ 20 and pay for my tea andddddd he turns his back on me, screw this place, we walked down to the Blue Duck which had way better service and I’m certain way better food. 0 stars

Good spot to grab a bite, but be prepared to be there a for a while… service is beyond slow. Food was cold and greasy.

Everytime I have ever been here the service was terrible and the food was mediocre. I’ve waited at the least 45 minutes to get my food everytime I have ever eaten there. 0 out of 10 would recommend

On the one hand, it can be a great place to get a sandwich or a drink. On the other hand, everything about it — from the food to the service — is so inconsistent, that you never know what to expect. I like the Landing, but I never go there anymore because of this.

Ate here on the recommendation of some hotel staff. It’s a standard bar-​pub-​type restaurant with plenty of seating spread throughout a few areas. Our service was a little on the slow side but pretty friendly. I had a buffalo chicken sandwich was that very spicy but good. The battered french fries were really the winner of the show for me here.
The special when we went was pot roast, which my mom was really excited about, but they were all sold out of it. If you have a specials board that changes daily, maybe don’t leave it posted when you’ve run out?
A decent local restaurant, but exploring the riverfront area across the street from it was more interesting to me.

File this one under «only as good as it needs to be». Very nice place indoor and out with multiple levels and a nice new bar in the newer addition. Food is straight-​forward bar and grill fare. I ordered a cheeseburger medium and left the one inch square center of raw meat on the plate as a message. My instincts told me that it wouldn’t be read.
The next day I discovered at lunch that I did not have my debit card. Our server did not return it and with the breeze and trying to hang on to the receipts, I lost track. My wifre called and they mailed it back. It came in a nice invitation style card. It was thick. I thought perhaps they had sent a discount coupon for my inconvenience. It was a copy of their menu…
I would give this place two stars based on that one visit but I’m giving the benefit of the doubt.

I’m not big on bars. I only go when the rest of my crowd wants to. Marquarts Landing is an above average experience for me. Not hugely so – it’s still a bar — alcohol, bar food, music louder than I like. I only had water.
It had a nice mood. I can’t quite put my finger on what I like about it. I can see how locals become regulars at Marquarts.

So this is a local bar in a small town. I didn’t expect much given the minimalistic décor. However, the food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. I highly recommend the Jerry burger.

My daughter and I were going to a bridal fair and we knew that we needed some liquid refreshments before we ventured into the madness. We opened my trusty Unilocal app and found a few places. Marquarts was the first place that we found that was open. The hostess was outside posting the daily special on the chalkboard billboard. We asked if they had good Bloody Marys and she replied Heck yeah… We were not disappointed. The drinks were great. We kept getting a different waitresses because we were having such a good time. The server recommended the hot made chunky mushroom soup. I am not a fan of mushroom soup, my daughter ordered it and I tried it, HOLY COW… I am now a fan of this mushroom soup. We asked for recommendations for sandwiches, the server said that they are know for their brisket, okay let’s try it. It arrived on Texas toast with thinly sliced brisket, I asked for them to add provel cheese and I dunk into the Aus Jous. I can say I was too busy enjoying my sandwich and did not have enjoy room for the french fries. If you find yourself in Washington, MO you MUST stop…

Perhaps, due to the other stellar reviews, they don’t need any additional customers. Or maybe they just didn’t need any more sales on this particular day. We entered today at 1:20pm, just after what we thought would have been the lunch rush. The woman behind the bar said «hello», and we felt welcomed. There were 3 tables open, so we sat. And sat. I walked to the bar to see the beer choices and back to the table. My husband tried to flag down one of the three waitresses several times. We waited 10 – 15 minutes without being acknowledged, so we left. We ended up eating at a place called Bubba’s just up yhe street and we’re very satisfied.

My experiences with this place have been all over the map from really awful to decent, which begs the question why I keep going back? I guess it’s the food, because it doesn’t matter if it’s busy or slow, the service has always been mediocre at best. But even the food can be inconsistent.
This most recent time is what I’ll focus on, and sadly it was the worst experience I’ve ever had there. They were busy so we went to the upstairs area, because downstairs was full. The upstairs was packed too. Our waitress was hardly around, which is a criticism of whoever manages the waitstaff. They should have one dedicated waitress for the upstairs when it is also full.
Anyways, before you know it, we have been sitting there for 1.5 hours! No food, no update on our food, nothing. Finally our food arrives, but only for half our party and we had to wait ten more minutes before the rest came. And all of it was cold. Not just room temperature, but COLD; I can’t even imagine how long it must have been sitting there to get to that temp.
She should have given us SOME sort of update on the status of our food, or reason why it was so friggin late. The food probably would have tasted good… an hour ago. One of the chicken sandwiches was so cold, it felt like they stuck it in the fridge; I’m not exaggerating. My food was wrong too, but there was no way we were going to send any of it back and be stuck there any longer.
All told, we were there for over two hours. It was completely unacceptable. I wish I could say that we complained and got our food for free, but we didn’t. The reason is we were so done and ready to leave that we didn’t want to wait another 10 minutes for our waitress to go find her manager (that was minimum amount of time she took to do anything.)
Then as we were walking out, we saw our waitress standing around talking with another waitress. Nice to see she’s working hard…

I have had 2 recent poor experiences with the landing. My overall impression is that the systems are behind the times and that management isn’t motivating staff to provide good service.
Yesterday a group of us went in after a long day on the river. We sat at 4 different tables on the patio. The waitress was totally annoyed and refused to split the checks. We relented and ordered anyway. She seemed exasperated that we requested a pitcher of water but after her heavy sigh brought it to us. She snapped at my 15 year old nephew when she brought his chicken strips without fries. And she didn’t even stop walking to address the mistake. She hollered her answer, «They’ll be done in a minute!» As she walked away. Rude. When our tab came ALL 20 of us were on the same tab and the items were all over the place. We couldn’t figure it out. News flash, landing, NONE of your competitors does this anymore. Time to update your policies and take a few minutes extra to split the checks. We asked management to split them up, which they did… why they couldn’t just do this to begin with is beyond me. As we were walking out the waitress was giving us some major stink eye.
On a high note the food was excellent! Very tasty. I had the steak supreme sandwich and would recommend it to anyone! Fries with ranch was amazing. That’s the only reason I’m giving them 2 stars. Props to the kitchen.

4 star average? You gotta be kidding. I could have sworn it was 3 ½ on my phone app… whatever… anyway.
Decided to try this place with a co-​worker the other day when we were grabbing a quick lunch before leaving Washington cause we were in town for a training session. He claimed he had eaten there the day prior and had «pretty darn good food» so I was enticed. Keeping in mind my co-​worker rarely ever «eats out» and he prefers simpler cuisine much like my very picky boyfriend who won’t even eat pasta. Ahem.
Now that that’s been said…
We walked in to a bunch of waitstaff just standing around and staring awkwardly at us. I did not feel welcome from the moment I entered. They said we could sit anywhere. The place was dead at 11:30am on a Friday. I noticed how nasty-​smoky it smelled in there and realized, with dread, that Washington probably allows smoking in restaurants. Ew. I wish they’d get rid of that shit everywhere. Nothing I hate more than sneezing all night because of cig smoke.
In the interest of wanting to sit somewhere where it didn’t stink like crap, we decided to sit in the innermost room with the games and two TVs. We picked a big round table in the middle. Our waitress took a little while to come to take our drink order. We finally got our waters, then she came back after another while to take our food orders. I noticed everything on the menu just about had provel cheese on it (ick) so had to ask if they could do other cheeses.
Finally decided on the smoked chicken greek salad and we placed our orders. It took her FOREVER between gaps to get back to our table. We had to just about go grab her because we still had to drive back to STL to get work done. Oy.
In the meantime, I went to use their restroom and it smelled AWFUL in there. Also the battery was out on the towel thingy and I had no way to wipe my hands so I had to wipe them on my pants. Ugh. Just adding insult to injury here.
The food FINALLY came. My salad was not very good, but my co-​worker seemed to enjoy his Reuben sandwich so maybe the secret with this place is to get a sandwich or to have low expectations about the food. Or maybe they only do greasy bar food well? Jeez. I don’t know. My salad wasn’t horrible but it wasn’t that great either. They put wayyyy too much cheese on it. At least they got my order right and didn’t put icky provel on it. Provel on a «Greek» salad? LOL. The tomatoes looked anemic and not fresh. Granted it’s probably past tomato season, but still. Ick. The chicken was not very good. It looked like deli meat and I was expected an actual chicken breast. One piece was so dried out I had to chew it forcefully. The only redeeming thing was the salad dressing (vinaigrette) which wasn’t too bad at all.
It also took a while for her to get our checks and take our cards.
I don’t think I would ever return to this place. Maybe it’s good for quick drinks or a nightcap but I would avoid for food purposes. The smoking thing and shitty service is really what blew it for me. They only got one extra star because my co-​worker enjoyed himself though he seemed more irritated than me about the wait times, mostly because had more work to get done than me! :P
