This place is the best kept secret in the Hamptons! And now I know why: you can find here so many wonderful(and unique!) pieces for a very reasonable price. For instance, today I scored a sexy pink clutch and a pair of pink heels without breaking the bank. I will definitely come back here again soon!

«Out of the Closet» in Water Mill, New York is the best kept secret of the Hamptons! This vintage treasure chest is filled to the brim with fabulous vintage clothing and accessories, all«one of a kind» pieces, where designers, stylists and vintage lovers alike can have a field day. There is a large selection of Victorian, Edwardian, «Downton Abbey», «Great Gatsby» and«Mad Men» styles through the 1970’s. Chanel jackets, Dior dresses and St. Laurent jackets sit side by side with beaded dresses, evening cloaks and Chinese silk. An unknown perk is their in-house seamstress/tailor who can alter, repair or redesign your most treasured garments to a perfect fit. They also do antique clothing restoration and re-weaving, a lost art and very, very hard to find. Even if you have tried your dry cleaner and they were unable to remove a stain or repair a rip, you can bring your garment to these ladies and they will work their magic. I brought my husband’s cashmere sport coat with a large moth hole in the sleeve and it disappeared for a fraction of the cost of another hard to find re-weaver or a replacement. I brought my beaded tea length lace wedding dress which had turned yellowish with black beading and was«beyond repair». They washed, rewashed and this most important dress and starched and pressed my dress into its original cream color with subtle silver beading. I could not believe it!

Amazing place, NYC vintage has nothing on OOTC. Huge selection of gorgeously restored Victorian dresses. Very interesting and beautiful selection of other eras. Many many hats and accessories… the place is packed. A great place for someone who truely loves quality vintage. They also restore you’re items as well. Can not believe the many hours that are put in into restoring garments. Would more then recommend visiting.

What I loved about Out Of The Closet was the quirkiness and originality of the owners — very chatty, interested, and informed — combined with a large and deep collection of true vintage going back to the 19th century: restored Edwardian pieces, 1920s stuff… Prices are on the high side but that simply reflects the quality of the clothing and curating and often the expert repairs and upcycling… I wandered in there on a summer day and found much to marvel at and kindred spirits in the owners.

This vintage store is brimming with gorgeous vintage of every kind. I grew up out on the east end and have always been disappointed with the vintage selection. I now live in LA where there is vintage galore and this store is better than most and up to par with the best of them. They also are masters of restoring and altering which is a delicate and sometimes impossible task with vintage. I couldn’t recommend this store more. They’re only bad review is from a disgruntled former tenant so ignore it and enjoy the beauty and rarities this store has to offer!

As I drove through watermill NY, just about to finish up a long day of shopping, I slammed on my brakes after seeing what appeared to be the most amazing treasure trove on the side of the road. Out of the Closet Boutique did not disappoint. Once inside, I was overwhelmed by this vintage store and its authenticity. If you are looking for high-end, one of a kind, and completely restored garments — come here! The selection and service are phenomenal and Ruth and Lucy are true experts of their craft. And don’t let their modesty fool you, this one of a kind wonder is no secret — Turns out, it has been graced by celebs like Katy Perry, Chloe Sevigney, and Sarah Jessica Parker!

This is one glorified thrift shop to avoid! I found thieir prices ridiculous for smelly clothes and musty wares! The store smells like raw sewage and my buying experience was the worst. I’ve done better at non profits and other great resale shops throughout the Hamptons but THIS museum is one I will pass on for sure!

This FAB U LOUS store has recently moved from Main Street in Bridgehampton, just a few miles down the road to Main Street in Water Mill. Still amazing, still the best of the vintage clothing world. This place is simply divine! New address: 720 Montauk Hwy, Water Mill, NY11976
