I’m so sad to write this review mainly because I truly loved this place but it’s gone down hill since they first opened a few years ago. It’s so hard trying to find good seafood not near the shore, but after today’s visit I’m definitely going to travel to Sam the Clam in Southington instead. Clam Digger is over priced for the portions they give you. Their fish is small with barely any meat and slightly over fried. I had a mix basket with fish and scallops. Scallops were perfect but not worth the extra 2 bucks. I had asked for sweet potato fries instead of regular fries. I got my seafood on top of regular fries with a small burnt side of the sweet potato fries. That wasn’t what I asked for. Our bill came to over 30 dollars and for what we got it wasn’t worth it. Sorry Clam Digger, I won’t return.

If you like fried seafood, this is the place. The seafood was crunchy and tender. It was very well done. I’ve been told the hot dogs and hamburgers are incredible but I haven’t eaten those yet.

This is not a place for ambiance or fine dining. The clam digger is just a great restaurant. They have a great menu and some really excellent meal combo deals. I had the shrimp Poboy and fries. It was cooked to perfection. The bread was soft and fresh. The fries were delish and not to salty like other places. I found the place to be clean and the staff to be helpful and friendly.

Stopped in several times in the past year, every time the food is outstanding. Tonight we did a take-out order consisting of Pulled Pork over Fries, a Scallop Roll, and a Crispy Chicken Club sandwich. My Scallop Roll was extremely tasty, the bread was toasted perfectly. My fiancée liked her Chicken Club a lot, and we both loved the Pulled Pork over Fries. Everything hit the spot, for $ 20, you can’t go wrong. The owner has to be the nicest person I’ve ever met while living in Waterbury, she’s a Sweetheart. Often she has some delicious desserts on the counter, they are always high quality. Can’t say enough good things about The Clam Digger in Waterbury, it’s a hidden gem in the Brass City.
