We, too, were very disappointed by the disappearance of the Salad Bar for which Emile’s has been renowned. As a matter of fact, we would sometimes stop in and have just the salad bar for dinner. Now, as a previous reviewer noted, the fabulous Salad Bar has been replaced by a dismal«bottomless salad bowl» accompanied by Italian Dressing whether you like Italian dressing or not. Our highly anticipated Wedding Anniversary dinner at Emile’s was a huge disappointment and we have no intention of going back. The story they gave us had something to do with the hepatitis case at the McDonalds in Waterloo which I think was at least a year ago now and the Health Department insisting they throw out their dressings every night and check the temperature of the salads every hour… protecting our health… blah, blah, blah. If that’s the case, why do they still have a bowl of Ritz crackers and a bowl of cream cheese spread in the bar area for anyone and everyone to dip into? Why they couldn’t put the different dressings on the salad bar in smaller containers and keep refilling them as necessary, thus eliminating the need to toss out a lot of dressing is beyond me. Also… is it really that hard to check the temperatures once an hour? I really don’t know but I do know that getting back their long time customers may be harder than they think. Since the«Super Salad Bar» still appears on their website menu, I think they should remove it so that others are not as blindsided as we were.

Went back to Emile’s last night. I don’t know what is happening to the older established restaurants around Geneva, but Emile’s seems to be the latest victim of change. The salad bar is now gone, replaced by a «bottom less salad» that, sadly, reminds me of the dismal fare at Olive Garden restaurants. It is a terrible replacement for the great array of salads previously offered on the salad bar. I overheard one of the employees explaining that it was too costly/wasteful to maintain the salad bar. They should have just cut back on how much they prepared of each item. Better to run out of some salads than eliminate them. The rolls have also changed, replaced by a flavorless mini-loaf of yeasty bread. I think that eliminating the salad bar is also going to eliminate customers. We were less than pleased and the table next to us was also making negative comments about the lack of a salad bar and the poor substitute; Additionally, the restaurant was mostly empty(but it was a Tuesday night). Sadly, I think they may also have made changes in the kitchen because our orders came out all screwed up. Our waitress tried to blame herself for the screw up but it was obvious that it was not her fault. So, bottom line is we won’t be going back to Emile’s until/unless they put the salad bar back in. Emile’s and Nonna’s Trattoria used to be our go-to places for Italian food and steaks. Both are now off the list.

This is my 1st time to be here in this county we had recommendation from the girl in the out let. We arrived here at 1500 we asked for a table and she guid us to a table with a big smile. We had Joanne as waitress. She recommend some dishes for us then we decide to have«backed salmon, shrimp scampi, alfredo, breaded mozz and cheese stickes» all delicious nothing bad

Excellent food! Salad bar is included with the meals. Staff is very friendly and it appeared there were a lot of regulars on the Friday night we ate there. At one point the line was out the door… would eat there again!

Kind of a dated restaurant. The only reason it gets three stars is because it’s prime rib is awesome. Everything else is just O.K. Nothing special. And again, very dated. Needs an update inside.

3.5 After a day of driving and hitting up wineries and downing more wines than I had realized, I was craving Italian. Emile’s was a good place to satisfy the carbs that I seriously needed. Writing this review, I realized that I had indeed drank too much wine, because I just cannot remember if we had ordered appetizers. I don’t think we did. I just remember us ordering chicken marinara and the veal alfredo with fettucine. I was able to get the spaghetti rather than the angel hair that came with my dish. The dishes came with a choice of salad or soup. We went with the soup, which was the clam chowder. The clam chowder was good. It was tomato based soup and was delightfully tangy. When the entrees came out, we were surprised at how huge the portions were. The chicken marinara was good, but it was a bit too tangy for my tastes. However, the chicken was pretty moist. The veal alfredo was good too. I was not really a fan because I can’t really eat dishes that are too rich. The veal was smothered in the alfredo sauce and a thick blanket of cheese which my boyfriend had to scrape off. He really enjoyed his meal since he polished it all off, or maybe he just really needed some food after a day of drinking. I barely ate half my pasta, so I packed it to go. The waitress was so nice. She was able to accommodate the containers that we wanted them to be packed in. We requested a microwavable container(since we were staying at a hotel that had a fridge and a microwave!) and she happily obliged. She also gave us extra utensils which were useful because we wound up having more leftovers the next day. I would say this place is pretty standard for your Italian restaurant, and this is the spot where all the locals come to. All the waitresses knew the majority of the patrons!

Ehh. Some may appreciate the vintage vibe they are going for here. Me? I was here for the food. This place is popular locally so we have checked it out several times. On all occasions it failed. The salad bar is canned beans, iceberg lettuce and canned beets, chick peas, etc. We had a surf and turf, 50 some dollars and prime rib. Flavorless. You can do much better in Geneva for steak and Italian food.

This place is great! To be honest, I was a little hesitant the first time I walked inside, but my husband assured me that it was a good place. The entrance is at the bar(which is quite dark) and the overall décor is quite dated. However, the service and food were great! The salad bar is excellent(amazing macaroni salad) and it’s free with your meal. The prime rib is awesome(and huge — order the smaller portion, trust me!) and so are the ribs and salmon. The fried fish platter has been the only dud so far(the batter was hard and tasteless, and the fish seemed dry). Give it a try, you won’t be sorry!

Everything was good but the crab in the bisque imitation, obviously imitation. And not only was it imitation, the waitress insisted that it wasn’t. Aside from that the food was good. We all had a nice time and the waitresses all worked together to serve our large party of people.

Been to this restaurant about 4 times for dinner every time we pass through Geneva on our way to Michigan. Food has always been excellent and the staff is friendly. Like the salad bar and the menu choices. Good food!

I was looking forward to a nice dinner with friends tonight and one of the girls in my group suggested Emiles. We Rrived and sat down as a party of 5. I ordered the double 11 oz pork chops and asked the waitress to please have them cooked no more than medium, in fact nice and juicy! After a short wait she delivered two very well done nice size chops. I asked that they be remade as I ordered them, medium and juicy. They were soon returned to me and she asked me to cut into them for her. To my amazement the center of my chop was RAW. I was astonished that they would dare deliver something like that. After my party finished eating I went over to what seemed to be the manager to discuss this blunder. No one came to apologize nor see if there was anything that they could do. I ended up with no dinner. The manager was completely nasty about the situation. I was amazed. You need to know that a mistake is fine. Two mistakes are sad. Raw pork is dangerous. So is the management of this old restaurant. Needless to say I will not return, mostly because of their terrible attitude.

The fish products are amazing, from the hadock to the clam chowder and even salmon, their food is amazing which is also reflected in their service.

I was recommended to come here from a co-worker(he loves to eat) and we were in town, so we stopped by. Emile’s is a restaurant that hasn’t moved past the 1980’s, or at least haven’t spent any more on renovations since. Very dim lit, with dark green carpets throughout and dated chairs all over. But once the food came, we definitely forgot all about the atmosphere or lack there of. It seems like Emile’s has gotten a name for itself over the years by pushing out decent food with massive portions. Having spent the day wine-tasting we weren’t all that hungry, and both ended up taking to-go boxes with us! We started with the crab stuffed mushrooms that were«on special» yet they are on the regular menu. Ok, nothing spectacular though. We both went with dinner sandwiches, and she got the Cajun chicken and I got the grilled chicken Sicilian. Both were absolutely massive for the $ 8.95 price. They definitely filled us up! There was also a salad bar that my co-worker told me about but it didn’t look overly appealing that night. For date night or taking the family out for dinner, Emile’s won’t blow the monthly budget and leave you with plenty of food.

I always remember coming here with my mom, when I was very little. They had the BEST olives, and the best prime rib. not too fancy– and never over crowded.

Found this place en route to another place and decided to give it a try. The food selection was good, the atmosphere was dark and out-dated. Free salad bar and dinner rolls with any entrée purchase. Had the Shrimp Scampi which was different than what I’m accustomed to. It seemed to be more salt and pepper shrimp than having much garlic at all. It was also over rice as described on the menu but pasta was a choice even though the menu claims no substitutions. Great prices for the quality and quantity of food and service was pleasant.

Very nice, relaxing spot for dinner. Had Easter supper here while on a Finger Lakes getaway. Reservations highly recommended. They do a bustling business but don’t make you feel rushed. Homey, unintentionally retro décor and high-quality food with some authentic Italian touches if you want them. My husband had a salmon special topped with crab meat and he loved it. I had the scampi over rice and found it tasty but not very filling. Diners seem to stock up on the salad bar, which is nice and fresh with good bean salads like garbanzo/chick pea. They have one of the most extensive children’s menus I’ve ever seen and we appreciated that: my son’s spaghetti and meatballs disappeared in record time, and he is a picky eater! Lots of dessert choices including yummy home-made pies. Service was friendly and efficient. Overall a very good choice if you are looking for the pricier side of the moderate spectrum in a family-oriented restaurant.

Call ahead on the weekends It’s almost always packed. The prime rib is very good and they have an American-Italian menu. They also offer good specials. The price is moderate to expensive and the service is always brisk and efficient.
