I don’t understand why this place has such a low rating on Unilocal. Our server Lori was excellent, funny and attentive and the steaks were very good, and considering the price, they were outstanding. I come from Atlanta which has high standards with respect to service and food, but I would definitely come back on my next trip to Watertown. I liked the way how they prepare your salad at the table, too.

We went there this past weekend for retirement party with a group of 15 people. The food was below average, but the service was brutal. I was the first to arrive with a couple other guests. We were asked if the checks needed to be separate or could be done on one check. We responded the checks would be separate, but we would help her out. Our waitresses response was, «No, I’ll tell you where you need to sit.» If a restaurant has issues with separate checks for a larger group this should be noted at the reservation time or in your restaurant policies. If you allow guests to have separate checks in a large party then please do not tell us where we need to sit! We are not in elementary school with seating charts. After taking our drink order it took over 10 minutes for just the waters. Then while taking our food order she left in the middle of our order three separate times. I would understand some of this if the restaurant was busy, but our group was half of the restaurant patrons at the time. When she came back around for our second round of drinks and I asked for the drink menu she said I wouldn’t need the drink menu and that she could tell me what they had to offer. I asked her for their IPAs and when she told me they didn’t have any I asked her about a couple other beers, which she then proceeded to tell me she didn’t know what type of beers they were. Maybe next time you should just bring the drink menu to your customer! Unfortunately when you get off on the wrong foot with your customers like that and then they ask you questions about your menu please do not try and make sarcastic comments and jokes about the questions that are asked. It does not come across well. If our tip was not included into the bill it definitely would not have been as high as the amounts that were given. Hopefully this waitress was simply having a bad day because if this is normal customer service I can see why this restaurant is getting two stars at best. Definitely a disappointing experience at what could be a fun restaurant to go out to in a location that does not have a lot of competition.

I probably should try more Watertown restaurants and relevel my rating based on the limited options in general, but having no interest in doing so, I’ll give it a solid two. Not horrible, I would come back someday if someone else really wanted to, but generally not my type of place, for food anyhow. I think the bar set up had decent promise for a football game. The ambiance really leaves something to be desired. Fake vines, cafeteria chairs, cold temps, just blah. Our service was also just ok, polite lady but banging cups down, forgetful of who ordered what, slow to bring the check, generally not enthused. Maybe I’m being picky. I started with a cup of French onion soup which required a one dollar upcharge for cheese. What? Anyway, the broth was super good, not too salty, not too much onion. Good stuff. The cheese wasn’t caramelized on top, so rest assured this was microwaved. Great. I then had a roast beef sandwich with mushrooms, bacon, mozzarella and crispy onion straws. The portion was super generous, almost to the point of not being able to eat it as a sandwich, I had to use a knife and fork. The roast beef was good, the bacon and onion weren’t warm or crispy which I thought was a miss. The fries were in the thick cut style and I liked them especially when dipped in my sister’s chipotle mayo. Surprisingly it had a little kick, I would definitely recommend getting a side.

I was not hungry going here, it was just in the area I was currently and I needed to eat. Walking into the place on a Sunday night and seeing only one other set of patrons made me wonder if we should have left, but I was not going to eat fast food. I think I would have had a better experience with fast food. There was two waitresses, but it seemed like they had dozens of customers, because we felt like we were ignored for most of the evening. Lack of coffee refills, no bringing us water even though we asked twice, and just all around slowness. The food, I ordered ribeye. Now yes this meat has some fat, but these looked like they were not even tried to cut or trimmed decent. The steak had very little flavor. They kept basting everything on the grill with the same stuff. They used the same set of tongs for everything. This mean it was touching the raw meat, seafood and vegetables, and Texas toast, along with the cooked items. The same brush in their basting sauce also went on it all, raw and cooked. I saw shakers there with I am sure some type of spices, but never seen them used once. Monday we both had problems with our stomachs. We were very unhappy with the whole experience.

The service was slow and the employees were two busy talking by the bar the wait on customers. My Kansas City strip was very poor quality and I should of sent it back like the table beside us. Started talking to other customers in the restaurant and they had the same complaints about the food. The cool thing was they fix your salad at the table and the restaurant has potential. I’m sad because I love a good steak place and it looks like I will be coming to town a lot over the next year for Busness but we will not be coming here!

If you are looking for a pub/low end restaurant with low prices and low quality to show for it – than this is your place. I had a glass of wine while looking at the menu and decided not to even eat here because it looked so bad – I should of looked at the reviews before coming in. Not to mention my glass of wine was YELLOWTAIL– it retails for $ 5.00 at the store and my glass of wine was $ 4.50…hmmm???

I’m from NY so I’m used to having everything at my fingertips but I have to say that Steakfire was a pleasant surprise of a place with good, friendly service and excellent steaks. What makes the place so cool is that they have a large flame grill set up right in the middle where you have the choice of having them cook your meats(steak, chicken) for you or you can cook them yourself. I ordered the filet mignon which came with a baked potato and Texas toast and a salad prepared right at the table with all the fixin’s. The steak was tender and flavorful and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend! I’ve never given a review on Unilocal before but the power of the 2 negative reviews posted here kept me away from this place for the first 2 days of my stay. I travel all over the country and rely on Unilocal reviews for helping to steer me in the right direction with local restaurants. I hope my review balances the scales in Steakfire’s direction — if you’re a local or just passing through, make sure you visit this place to check them out!

I live in Watertown and desperately wanted this restaurant to be good so my wife and I would have a decent option in town. Unfortunately, we agree that this was the worst restaurant experience we have had in this country. When we sat down the server was friendly, but after that she disappeared. She did not come to take our order for at least 10 minutes. When she finally did come it was because another server reminded her we were there. When she brought out new food she did not remove the old plates. By the time we were done eating there was no room on the table for anything. The mozzarella sticks were clearly frozen. The steak was of very low quality, in fact, terrible is the only appropriate word. The salad used bagged iceberg lettuce and processed shredded cheese. The cheese was frozen. This was honestly the worst dining experience I have had in this country.

This is a place unlike any other you have likely been. It helps to know what you are getting into before going. If you go for lunch it’s a pretty normal steak joint. When you go for dinner, this is when it really shines. Steak isn’t the only thing on the menu, but steak is the most fun. They have a very large, indoor charcoal grill they fire up for dinner. For the most part all their steaks are the same price. Smaller portions are higher quality cuts, larger portions are lesser cuts, but they can come marinaded so they grill nice and tender. It’s your choice. I don’t just mean your choice in choosing from a menu either. You can walk over to their display case and select the exact steak you want. You can then cook it yourself on their grill or pay $ 1 extra for one of their people to grill it for you to your specifications(rare, medium etc.) A really nice addition to the dinner is the salad presentation. You can think of it as a one trip salad bar brought to your table. You tell the server what you want in your salad and it’s made right there at the table while you watch. Want a little more of some ingredient, just say so. They also offer a full bar so no worries there. Given that you can pick your own steak from the display case and either cook it yourself or specify how you want it cooked for you it’s pretty difficult to end up with a bad steak.

This really saddens me to write this review, as I am from this town, and used to love to eat at Steakfire. I’ll probably never go back, though. I ordered a Kansas City steak, which to me is 99.9% of the time a strip. this was the .1%. No biggie, if it’s good. This was horrible. I am not sure where they get their beef from, but it’s of really poor quality. There was NO taste whatsoever to the meat, and it was incredibly fatty. Not marbled with fat, but rather just solid chunks throughout. The fries were ok, rather cold yet overcooked. The soup of the day was a beer cheese soup with sausage, and it was horrid. So much fat and salt, impossible to enjoy. I sent back the steak, etc. and ordered a Wisconsin Melt burger, and this wasn’t much better. Sloppy with low grade cheese and just fatty as all get out. If I still lived here, I would definitely be hunting down new restaurants, and I wouldn’t care if I had to drive a bit. This was just bad.
