I’ll never go here again…- I went into this store today to order one slice of pizza. As soon as the cashier rang in my order he flipped the screen around to me and on the display was a menu of tip choices with a «No Tip» option to move to the next screen. I’m flabbergasted… how tacky!!! What did this guy do to receive a tip? And he had a tip jar by the cash register that was stuffed with bills. They have a lot of nerve putting customers through this. BTW…my slice was burnt and dried out…

Overpriced, over hyped and utterly bland. Despite being a thin crust pizza lover, I was disappointed by how paper thin their pizza is, as well as by the lack of tomato sauce. Their large cheese pizza is essentially a grilled cheese sandwich made from pita bread and mozzarella. And while I actually somewhat enjoyed it, it’s nothing I would ever pay $ 18 for a second time. Not least because it was served stone cold at the time of pick up. The idea of some poor sap actually ordering delivery from this place and paying an additional fee plus tip for this overpriced pizza, which will be ice cold by the time it gets there, is just depressing. I would give this place two stars for the mediocre food but the fact that it was served stone cold and overpriced for what it is takes it down to one star.

I only ordered delivery once and wasn’t pleased, but that was before the new ownership and all the scandal. I lived in watertown from 1987 until 2014. One day, probably in 2014 or 2013, I was headed home on foot and very very thirsty. I had been carrying a bottle of water but it was now empty. I was passing by my bank, where I’d been a customer for decades, explaining that I had a medical condition and would they mind getting me some tap water. They told me they had no water! No water in Watertown? Apparently, the block of stores across the street had plenty of running water, including the Upper Crust. I remembered that yucky pizza. But I also knew they were under new management. I didn’t order pizza, but explained my situation. The owner was shocked that a bank would turn away their own customer and claim they had no water. He showed me two, full pitchers of water and told me to drink as much as I needed. I worried I was taking too much(I was thirsty!) but the manager said, «Please don’t worry about that. There’s plenty more where it came from.» I’m writing this in part to return the generosity. I don’t forget things like this. I want to ask any customers that didn’t like the pizza before to go back and try again. I don’t forget. Love, Julie and Puzzle

Do not eat here! I decided to grab a quick bite to eat since I was nearby. Biggest mistake! I took my pizza to go. While I was eating it at home, I took out a few of the tomato chunks. Good thing I did because when I looked closer, I see a huge piece of hair in one of the tomato chunks. And I know it’s not mine because the hair is wrapped around the tomato piece and I don’t have brown hair. That is just nasty! I am never going here again. This was my first and last time

While the pizza is good, they always quote you at least half the time it will actually take for them to show up with your pizza. Often times it’s even longer. Tonight I ordered one pizza with the cheese bread and ended up waiting three hours. Three hours! At a certain point it turns into a battle of wills… and it’s just the principle of the thing. After numerous calls, a bowl of cereal, and several apologies from Nadia on the phone(who is very sweet and gave me my pizza free of charge… because, obviously, at this point), she admitted the driver just wasn’t answering his phone. Sorry Upper Crust. You’re now Lower Crust.

I went in there with my husband tonight, and it’s as good as it gets! The pizza was great because 1) It was huge, 2) It was a thin slice, with enough juice(the right amount) and the cheese melted in my mouth, 3) The pepperoni was just amazing!!!, 4) The crust was just perfectly done. My husband got the beef lasagna and we finished the whole thing in 10 minutes, and I would ordinarily never eat lasagna. This is a great large slice of lasagna, hindsight– I should have taken a picture for your guys. Sorry… Ellen was nice, and she came by and brought us the food and was just super nice! She was the person who handles the phone and also the register. She was just a doll, then another wonderful lady sitting near us started talking to us offering us some brownies. This lady was just so sweet, and then she started telling us that her daughter was Ellen. No wonder– they are both so nice! My husband and I will now be coming back for more, since we know that this place has awesome pizza, lasagna(I always burn the top of lasagnas) and awesome people like Ellen and her mom. And, brownies :.) You can park behind Watertown Free Library and walk across the street, or near the park down the street. This is an awesome place with fresh dough as well!

Great pizza’s, without a doubt. But waiting more than an hour for two pizza’s with two hungry kids and just one other table to serve… Is really below par

The Upper Crust is located in between my home and work and often times we’ll order out for lunch meetings. Everyone has different preferences for their pizza so I understand the differing reviews but I have never had a bad pie from here. I never had an issue with service and from what I have read the management gets it. I have had their pies before and after the management change and haven’t noticed any significant difference, just quality pizza with its own flair. I love the buffalo chicken and nothing beats classic pepperoni.

The girl on the phone wouldn’t let me pay with my credit card when I order from them all the time saying that they can’t do that, since when? So now I can’t use card for delivery? Wtf?!. I used to love their pizza, but the quality of their pizza dropped and so has their customer service. I’ll NEVER order from there again. But D&A pizza is great ;-)

Upper Crust … how I used to love thee. Sorry to say not so much anymore. While the concept is still good the execution just sucks. I called in two pizzas a couple weeks ago. They quoted 25 minutes. The crust is SUPER thin so I know it takes about 5 minutes in the oven but that’s okay. I got there early, probably 15 minutes after the order, paid and sat. The guy at the counter said«just a couple minutes». About 5 minutes later I see the pizza maker put in a pepperoni and pineapple pizza I’m sure no one else could have ordered. Mind you it was off hours, no one in the joint. WHY did it take so long to simply put my pizza in the oven? Sure it was delicious. Small and over priced but tasty. Their customer service won’t have me returning though. Go to Sweet Tomatoes in Newton — similar but WAY better!

They have the same CFO that they had when they were forced to close their doors through bankruptcy. Just let that sink in for a second… A company goes bankrupt and then somehow the same CFO is still their under«NEWOWNERSHIP»??? New owners??? Yeah right!!! They are a bunch of crooks who still treat their employees like crap.

To Quote a Previous Reviewer«Upper Crust has fallen on Hard Times» Sounds like Dickens. How quaint then that my local pizza joint eschews the working class nature of their product in favor of the trappings of the affluent. Let them eat cake, suggests the man in the top hat on the pizza box. Soggy, over salted, sub par pizza. Stella’s is better. Pizza Roma is better. Hell, even Papa Gino’s puts in a better shift. You wish to pay these prices? Then send your servant to Otto’s in Harvard Square. I recommend the basil ricotta. Perhaps he can have the crusts as a reward. All that aside, after trudging over to pick up a take out order, the tip jar was pushed towards me and I was asked expectantly if I’d like to donate– please sir, may I have some more. I think he was a little offended by my hyena like laughter.

I used to LOVE the pizza here… it was thin, crunchy, with tomato sauce that had delicious tomato chunks… Just got a few slices for my coworkers and I and it was HORRIBLE. The cheese slices were put between wax paper, so I got a slice of sauce and SUPERSOGGY bread, with almost no cheese, as it was all stuck to the paper. The slice tasted microwaved, no wonder if came out of the oven in less than 30 seconds. I think different ingredients are being used for the sauce, because it was smooth and tasteless. Waste of money.

I don’t like Domino’s pizza. For the price of pizza here — you get more taste/$ at Domino’s.(…and let me re-iterate that I don’t like Domino’s). Also, the A/C was blasting at an unnecessarily cold temperature given how pleasant it was outside; we ended up eating outside because the cold was unbearable. I’ve been to other Upper Crust Pizzeria’s many years ago — and I thought they were fine. This is the first time I had been to this location. It will also be my last.

Upper Crust has fallen on hard times. This used to be up there with the best in boston, but it’s a shadow of that now. The pizza’s soggy. The service has become cloying. I used to come in more than once a week, but I’m down to once a month. If anecdotal evidence counts for anything, others agree. The place seems empty during the day. I sure do wish they’d return to the old recipes.

I’ve been to several locations, this one most recently. Friendly, casual vibe, and the guy at the counter was happy to chat with us for a few minutes since we were from out of town. The pizza is always consistently good — not mind blowing by any means, but I’m always pretty sure I could just mow down the entire pizza in one sitting.

Tonight I ordered their version of the buffalo chicken pizza. It was awful!!! Hands down the saltiest pizza I have ever had. It was so salty I literally couldn’t eat it. This place used to have a great pizza but I think those days are over. The plus side, the staff is very friendly.

Ugh. I am rarely compelled to write a bad review, but Upper Crust in Watertown went out of its way on this one. We ordered a small pepperoni pizza and a «slice of the day» for delivery. They claimed that they don’t delivered slices of the day. Which is either a straight up lie, because I have regularly ordered slices of the day for delivery in the past, or a new nonsensical policy. Regardless, we instead ordered a small basil &SDT pizza and a small pepperoni. Which came to $ 30. They took down our address an literally asked four times — «Newton, right, not Watertown?» Which is strange because we were already in the database and it’s never been an issue. So be it. «Yes, Newton please» we told her … 4 times. 35 minutes later, we get a call from the delivery man. «I can’t find your street in Watertown, what’s the deal?» We said, «It’s in Newton.» Sigh. Another half hour goes by, and we get another call from the delivery man. «I’m on your street but it doesn’t go up to your number. What’s the deal?» He went to the wrong street — ended up on a street that was 2 letters different than our street. Another half hour later, he showed up with a large and a small pizza. We had ordered 2 smalls. He called in to fix it, which took about 8 minutes. He said, «sorry, the new price will be $ 32 … we’l refund you the difference» First, that is more than we were originally quoted for a large and a small. Second, that price its totally insane for 2 small pizzas. Third, they never credited us and instead entered the $ 32 charge on our credit card three separate times. And the pizza was cold.
