The dinner we had at Blue Point Grill at the end of May 2016 was very poor. After being seated as a party of 8, we started on a 3.5 hour journey. Everything from our drinks to our appetizers to our entrees were slow. We waited an hour and 38 minutes before our appetizers came. And they were cold! This trend continued throughout the meal. When our entrees came, all of the steak orders were cooked incorrectly and were room temperature. I had asked for my ribeye to be rare but it came out medium-well. Everyone else who requested well-done steaks received theirs too rare. Two even had to be sent back. More outrageously, they served kraft mac-n-cheese. I still cannot believe that they thought that was appropriate. It wasn’t even well-made as it was grainy and cold. Throughout our meal, our drinks were only refilled once and wait staff were nonexistent. At the end, the waiter reduced prices and gave complimentary cherries which is a nice afterthought, but not enough to cancel out how painstakingly drawn out this dinner was along with the cold food and insufficient attention from waitstaff. It was unclear if it was the waitstaff or if there was a problem in the kitchen, but based off of how shaken the waitor looked, it was probably both. If you take nothing else away from this review, know that they serve kraft mac-n-cheese which blows my mind.

Slow service, undercooked steak and bland seafood scampi. Overpriced and very underwhelming, the garlic mashed potatoes were alright.

Good service, friendly staff, pleasant surroundings. Good seafood pasta, pretty good steak special, salmon a little over-done. Nice evening.

My husband and I were a bit hesitant to eat in our hotel restaurant after reading mixed reviews. After being rained in, we decided to give it a chance. We sat at the bar and were waited on by Evelyn. Not only was the service fantastic, but so were our martinis and food. We had the clams appetizer, ribeye and seafood scampi pasta. While the meal was somewhat pricey, it was worth it. The portions were great, but more importantly, the seafood and medium rare steak were cooked perfectly. I was also impressed by how much seafood was in the pasta. It was truly delicious. I recommend that anyone staying in the area give Blue Pointe a shot. Sit at the bar or on the patio for added atmosphere.

Breakfast was great. Very classy and sitting outside next to the water. It’s not the cheapest breakfast in town, but it’s the best I’ve had here. And let’s be honest, it’s only a few dollars more than the dinner-style spots… Ask for a slice of orange for your water. As character notes, one choice of toast is dark rye. Their home fries are neatly cubed and crispy. A carafe of coffee for your table. My feeling is, in this town if you’re going to go out for breakfast, you might as well splurge and go here. Otherwise stay in, keep some bread and almond butter in your hotel or campsite, and splurge for breakfast one day with the money you saved. Another helpful tip from your uncle Sal.

I really would like to rate this place higher. There were many positives: friendly, prompt service, a wide selection of local wines, a lovely location with a view of the lake. The food and prices were not so great. We started with a cheese platter with local cheeses. That was nice. The local goat cheese was especially tasty. I chose a kale Caesar salad with chicken. It came with shrimp. I didn’t complain since I was hungry and I like shrimp, but they were very salty and disappointing. For a «kale» salad, the kale was hard to find. It was mostly romaine, and it was a pretty small salad. If I had not had the cheese platter, I would not have had enough to eat. My husband had steak tips with noodles and wild mushrooms. Now, I am not a mushroom eater, but I tried some, and loved one of the varieties that was in the stew. Very nice surprise! On the other hand, the steak tips were tough and over-cooked. Not the right meat for the stew treatment. The asparagus included in the dish was a few scrawny pieces tossed on top. If the meal was less expensive($ 36 for the steak tips) I might feel less perturbed. We won’t eat here again.

Went in for dinner this evening — five of us — about 5:15. Beautiful evening, asked to eat outside, picked a table in the sun. Walked out five minutes later. You can only be served a burger at the bar or on the high-top tables which aren’t in the sun. Of the over 15 tables available only 4 had people seated. The histess let five people walk out without batting an eye. Yes, we told her why we were leaving. We told the waiter also. Nothing.

We had dinner there last night. I gave the review a 3 star because the place is so pretty and the drinks were good. The waitress was sweet but not very experienced. We order the fried calamari with banana peppers for an appetizer. It was the worst I’ve eaten out. They were like tasteless rubber bands. When I told the waitress that she said she wished I had said something earlier. I said I am saying something now because you never came back to ask how they were . My husband ordered the steak which was prepared med. rare as ordered, but the garlic mashed potatoes were brown, tasteless and unappealing. Who ruins garlic mashed potatoes? I ordered the pasta dish with chorizo sausage and prosciutto. It was so bad I couldn’t eat it. The pasta dish had set so long after they plated it that the top was all dried and discolored. I brought it home and figured I would try it after it had a chance to meld flavors. I spit it out, that’s how bad it was. It was very expensive for a lousy dinner. Don’t bother going there. I am sick to death of throwing away good money on lousy dinners.

Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else. Lobster app horrible, casadilla canned vegs. Wings dry, service slow and bad.

It’s always interesting to go back to a new restaurant a year later and see if they have held their quality. Had dinner at the Blue Pointe again recently and was pleased to see the same standard of meal and service. The one thing that I noticed both times is that the tables do not have tablecloths, which makes the place feel less nice than it ought to feel for the prices. This would be a simple upgrade and would make a noticeable difference.

I usually have an aversion to hotel restaurants. I feel like they already think they have you by staying at the hotel, so why try to be culinary geniuses. I was pleasantly surprised by the dinner I had here! There are a few key point to mention though, so it might sound weird as to why I’d rate them on the higher end. I started off with the caprese salad. It should be known, I’m über judgmental about caprese salad’s because of the tomato’s. They HAVE to be ripe. I realize we’re out of tomato season, but I just couldn’t resist. I was assured by our very friendly server, Eric, that they were still in great condition. Not so much when I got a mediocre looking tomato spread. Not necessarily his fault though, I’m just picky about my tomaters! He was nice enough to take it back without a charge though, which I appreciated. But the tomato was totally redeemed in my delicious bloody mary! I asked for it extra spicy and it did not disappoint! I hate when my bloody mary’s are watering and this was just the right balance of vodka and juice. Yumm-o! I was torn by what to order, because everything sounded good. I was either into the Filet, Lamb Chops or the Seafood Linguine. I’ve been in a seafood mood lately, so I went with that. While it was a hearty helping of shrimp and scallops, I would have liked a little more lobster. It was also a huge helping of linguine itself. But it was just missing the taste. After adding a bunch of pepper, dash of salt and lots of Parmesan cheese, I enjoyed it though. For dessert they offer all homemade options. While I was disappointed they didn’t offer any vanilla cake options, a chocolate lover would be in heaven! They had three kinds of chocolate cakes, cheesecake and apple pie. Since I’m totally in a pumpkin mood, I ordered the pumpkin cheesecake, which was delish! While the piece was way tinier than any of my dinning companions cakes, it was totally fine after a filling dinner. I sampled a couple other people’s food and it seemed as if the dishes I hadn’t ordered were also decent. I really enjoyed our server Eric as well, as he was really friendly. The one thing I did notice is that service was very slow. For a leisurely Saturday dinner we clocked in around 3ish hours. Not bad at all, but if you need to get outta there fast, it may not happen. So overall in my book, you’re assured a good meal!

The service just kills me here. Can’t make excuses, don’t say it’s an upstate thing, I received better service when I was in Buffalo, Rochester and Syracuse. I made a reservation for the outdoor seating, I bring my family in and our table took another 30 minutes. Alright, I’ll provide leniency. But when I ordered my drinks, that took about thirty minutes. I know we’re nearby vineyards… but are the waiters picking the grapes?! We ordered our entrees and it just took forever, I’m surprised our plates weren’t cold. Good luck trying to find waiters, they just run away from the guests. Food wasn’t bad. I also came here for breakfast, we were seated first and two more couples were promptly seated as well… what I do not understand is why received service first and we didn’t?!? Sorry, I know this restaurant is at a nice hotel, but I’ll just stay at the hotel and grab some fast food.

Arrived late after traveling 10+ hours on the road. After checking in, Decided to dine at hotel rather than venture out. Opted for seating in the bar area rather than dining room to watch TV and get caught up on the summer Olympics. Meal did not disappoint. Menu was very creative and not over the top expensive in my opinion. Great selection of beer and wine as well. Enjoyed the cauliflower and pepper jack cheese soup and the quinoa stuffed eggplant. Strip steak special with crab meat stuffed Roma tomatoes was good but nothing special in light of the other items on the menu that sounded interesting. Will definitely return!

Really(really) pricey, but always incredible food and service. The chef is a bit over the top on enhancements… almost like spices on steroids, so everything is very rich. But it’s so great to go there and get a grown up meal while the kids can order grill food from the bar menu. Also — the chocolate martinis deserve an award.

Probably the dining highlight of our recent trip to the Finger Lakes. Imagine that, the hotel bar! The first night we went there for dinner. It was raining and having just driven 5 hours I didn’t really feel like dealing with driving all over town for dinner. My wife had the chicken quasadilla($ 12) served with plenty of sour cream and salsa. The quasadilla was made with blue cheese and absolutely to-die-for. I had a burger with seasoned fries($ 10 as I recall). While waiting for our meal, the waitress brought over a bread basket: slices of sourdough bread and a bread with olives baked in it, with regular butter and an herbed butter and a chopped olive topping. All very tasty. While my burger and fries were good, and the burger was done correctly, I couldn’t get over how good my wife’s quasadilla was and wished I had ordered the same. ;) When you sit in the bar area, you can order from the casual sandwiches & appetizer menu *and* from the dining room’s more extensive dinner menu. The waitress tried to tempt us with dessert by saying that many of the choices are made on-premise and that the selections change daily, but we were too stuffed that night. When she brought us the bill, she also had a long, rectangular plate decorated with whipped cream and chocolate sauce and topped with two hand-dipped chocolate-covered Maraschino cherries(at no charge). They were tasty and perfect for the«little sweet» that people typically crave after a good meal. Service was friendly & attentive, though that night the bar wasn’t super-busy. We were able to easily charge the meal to our room. Two nights later, we went for nightcap and dessert while watching the Phillies in the playoffs. My wife had a Bailey’s and(decaf) coffee, topped with whipped cream. I simply had coffee. We shared a slice of caramel apple pie with a scoop of ice cream. That night we sat right at the bar and made small talk with the friendly bartenders. My wife’s Bailey’s and coffee was $ 6, my coffee was $ 3, but the dessert was a bit overpriced at $ 8. I mean it was good and all, but $ 8? Overall, I’d definitely recommend the place — the value, food quality and service are all there, but I’d recommend somewhere else for dessert…

Great place to eat and drink if you are staying at the hotel or the region. The bar and outdoor patio is very impressive. The menu had some great offerings for everyone along with a couple specials not on the menu. The wine list is very nice and caters to the local wineries in the region. If the weather cooperates, sit outside and after dinner cozy up to fire-pit or take a stroll along the harbor.

We are staying at the Harbor Hotel and came down for dinner on our last night here. We wanted to eat on the patio but it keeps raining — otherwise I’m sure it’s lovely out there. The menu is simple but tasty. Good, solid grill food. We had the crab cakes and scallops for appetizers. Both were good. The scallops were in a creamy sauce with radicchio, which paired very well with the wine that the server recommended to us — a local dry Riesling. The crab cake was tasty and also went well with the wine. I was pretty pleasantly surprised at the good flavor in the cake — a good amount of spice without being overwhelming, and the crab was flavorful on its own. For entrees, I had the braised pork shank. I would probably eat boot leather if it were braised. With that said though, it was definitely tasty. Meat was tender and not dry at all. The dish was served with a tasty tomato based sauce, potatoes and great northern beans. I would have preferred far more sauce and far less beans, but I’m being picky. It still tasted good. The server recommended a local pinot noir which paired great with the dish. The BF had a NY strip steak which was also very tasty, and cooked medium rare, as requested. The server paired his dish with a California(GASP) Cabernet. We were hesitant at first to trust the server to recommend wines, but he was honest about what the local wines do and don’t go with instead of trying to push the local stuff. We took our dessert to go — a delicious raspberry and white chocolate cheesecake, and two HUGE pours of Dr. Frank’s ice wine — not sure which one but it was goooooood. Overall a very good experience, and I’d recommend eating here once if you’re staying for several days in Watkins Glen.
