My family has been trading here for many years. We’ve always been happy with the products and services from Baker Brothers. But I had no idea how far this business would go to provide excellence! My elderly in-laws needed a «lift chair recliner,» but couldn’t afford one, and opted for a chair they could pay for. Well, the chair they got just didn’t serve their needs for lifting and fully reclining. They kept the chair and never said anything, even though they only used it maybe 5 times. Due to the progression of needs, I urged my folks to call Baker Bros., and request to exchange the unused chair for the model that they desperately needed. She called, and Debbie agreed to do the exchange. When I went into the store two hours later to see her, Debbie already had the model chair we needed, front and center. She fully explained the benefits of the lift recliner, explained how she was happy to do an exchange for my folks, and I assumed the added expense. Debbie went further, by not charging a restocking fee, nor did she charge for the pick-up and delivery of the new chair! AND, she automatically approved me for a payment plan! This business displays a character of goodwill, second to none! Not only will we bring ALL of our future business to Debbie, but we will tell everyone we know, how she stepped up and willingly served our family, by helping to improve their quality of life!!!

Appliances are getting confusing today. I just wanted clean clothes. You would think it would be that easy. After I had my head twisted around like that movie. I finally figured out what I want. Clean clothes that don’t smell bad after washing. We went everywhere, the box stores, the big S store, over the hill until it became clear that the HE washers wouldn’t work for me. I need water and an agitator to get the dirt out of my four active boys clothes. Do you know by 2017 we will be WASHING our clothes with foam. Do you know that the best selling wash machine on amazon looks like a plunger in a bucket? I had no idea things had gotten so bad. Then came along Deb at Bakers. Not only did she get exactly what I want which turns out to be a Speed Queen, but she had it at my house installed, moved the other set that we had just bought for 1,600.00 out of the house. BTW it took me 1 day to sell our go fast speedy and smelly HE machine on craigs list. I got a five year warranty free, it takes 22 minutes to do a huge load where the HE machine took 120 minutes with a third of the load. The gas dryer handled the huge load and everything was sweet smelling, clean and ready to be folded in another 20 minutes. Where as the LE. HE took 65 minutes. Hmm you do the math and decide which one is most efficient. Back to Baker brothers, we had a bit of a glitch about a week into my washing bliss. Something got messed up with the person they sent out to tweek the dryer(he works for the big S company) who wanted to charge me money. I called Deb. She said relax, and sent a new dryer with the installers the next day. The next day. She is a shining example of what customer service should be. When I need another appliance you know where I am going. Baker brothers in Watsonville. These people are the best kept secret in Santa Cruz and in San Jose. I did my my research. Deb and her crew are the absolute best. If I could give 10 stars I would. They just plain rock. Thank goodness we still have businesses like this around. Don’t walk, run into their store. You won’t regret it! !

Great Service, Helpful and Knowledgeable Staff. Debbie and David are terrific. I bought a Whirlpool Washer from them, and I could be more pleased. They gave me great advice and a good price. They delivered and installed the new washer, took away the old one, and took care of the rebates from PG&E and the City of Santa Cruz.

wow… a cruddy day just got better! I woke up to a huge puddle in the kitchen, and quickly realized that the freezer was rapidly dumping water all over the floor… ugh. A friend referred me to this fantastic refrigerator repair guy who was super duper honest(Reddi Appliance Repair) and he looked up the serial number and told me not to put money into the old fridge… and he referred me to Baker Bros Furniture for a good deal on a new one. This place is AWESOME! It’s like the good ol days when a sales person approached you to help you make a sound decision, instead of using high pressure sales tactics. They have appliances and furniture, and their pricing is super reasonable. I was able to get a reeeeally nice fridge because they offer inhouse credit in which they spread the total cost out over 4 months… with no interest or service charge! They even deliver for free if your purchase is over $ 300 or $ 400(can’t remember which) AND… as if that weren’t great enough… they will take your broken appliance for the $ 10 fee that the dump charges… no service charge! unbelievable! Baker Bros Furniture treats their customers right and I will forever be a loyal customer! Thank you Greg for the awesome referral!

I’ve been stewing over what to review for the big 5−0−0 and after touring Baker Brothers(henceforth BBF) today, Inspiration hit! As a bonus I get a First to Review star as well. Woot! Needless to say, I’ll never buy furniture or appliances from anyplace again! To borrow a line from my chica, Flor D.: ****~~~~Buy local, and support mom ‘n pop shops!~~~~**** I first found out about BBF last year when our department adopted a family for the holidays that had been discovered through a code enforcement case… this mother and children had been sleeping on the floor of an illegal unit. in complete squalor. They had nothing. While city staff filled their wishlist with goodies, Dave Baker came through in a big way and donated not only a mattress, but a bed frame too. Just because he heard about this story. Fast forward to 2009. I was welcomed into Leadership Santa Cruz class 25 and behold, Dave Baker is in my class. We got to talking and before you know it, turns out we buy a house and need some bedroom furniture! The Baker Brothers furniture shop has a really cool legacy in an old building from the 1930s in downtown Watsonville. It was originally a ford dealership, and then turned into a furniture business in the late 30s. Baker Brothers took things over in 1969, so it’s their 40th year anniversary! The thing about this local business is that their model is completely built around carefully established relationships. There’s a reason customers remain loyal for life. Fantastic service and a personal touch. To be fair we did shop around at some other local furniture places first, but in my defense it was before we’d met Dave personally. When we went down to the store from SC we had a nice discussion about what our needs were, walked around, got some ideas, and then picked out what we wanted from a catalog. Turns out it was from the same line as the discount place off of Soquel Drive and Commercial way. Their stuff tends to be a little classier and is designed to fit most budgets. Best part is that if they don’t have something you like in the show room, there are mountains of catalogs at every price point you can imagine. Rad! Anyway long story a little bit shorter, Dave beat competitor prices by 10% right off the bat, easily, AND he chopped off pretty much all of the sales tax! Free delivery, on time, no waiting, no hassle, and the drivers were super friendly and courteous
