Wauconda Cafe

okay so I ate here twice the first time dinner food it was bad no flavor had to cover meal in salt. My son had a chicken sandwich it was bad he would not eat it. Thought we would give it a second try this time breakfast food same problem. I think they use old oil to cook with their food. Will not go back

1^st time here, ordered the chicken quesadilla and the tortillas had mold spots. Realized after I ate one already, and I wanted to throw up after that… Needless to say, I will never eat here again. The wait staff… Seemed friendly, well at least all the waitresses except for my waitress who looked like she hated her life. The floor was filthy the booth seats were tattered. The bathrooms… Gross.
Just stay away.

Long story short the food is good but I say at the counter and noticed a waitress putting dirty dishes into dish tub and watched as somebody’s food splashed into her hand from the dirty dish. She then went over to the toast machine and proceeded to handle people’s toast without washing her hands. She was a young girl that was tall. All I gotta say is that was pretty disgusting.

Super friendly staff. Super traditional old-​school diner fare: from breakfast all day to a full turkey dinner. I had the biscuits and gravy with eggs (a-​ok!); daughter had the Belgian waffle with basically a banana split on top (not quite as described: no strawberries or blueberries, but she was absolutely not dissatisfied).
The place is full of what feels like regulars: little old ladies commenting on the soup of the day, single diners, staff friendly with everyone. Clearly they’ve cultivated a following.
The décor really needs an update, it’s dated and worn. A refresh of the space with this level of quality staff, this place could be a real standout.

My family had a great experience tonight with good food and service at Wauconda Café! My parents were in town for a night and we had a group of 13 including 2 small 4 year olds, everyone with a different taste in food. We picked this café because its location was half way between family from Crystal Lake up to Gurnee, plus they had a huge variety in their online menu at fair prices.
Our experience got off to a good start when I called ahead for a reservation and they were ready for us on time, no waiting. The atmosphere was casual with a clean and bright dining area… a nice family restaurant. Everyone liked the variety of food choices, from fish to fresh salads to Mexican to Greek and much more, plus breakfast all day! Even our pickiest eater found delicious choices on the menu.
The waitress and support staff was friendly, fast, and accurate with our orders. The quality of each meal was better than expected, and our final bill was lower than expected for a group of 13! Overall, it was a good value for a quality family meal.
We all agreed to meet and eat here again, so I’d recommend it to friends and fellow Unilocalers.

For the type of restaurant that this is it is wonderful. Great soups, salads and some nice entrees too. Great fast service. Really good for breakfast. New ownership doing a nice job.

Came in on Sunday around 11am. Food took forever to come out. Some of our order was completely forgot about. Majority of the food was obviously microwaved. I never write bad reviews but I had to express my disappointment with Wauconda café

Good service, food was ok. Nothing to write home about. Had the French dip. Salad had some sad looking vegetables. Prices reasonable. Would try again for breakfast.

Today was the 4^th time I have been here for breakfast. 1^st time all was great. The last 3 not so good. The food has been average at best. The service has Ben less then average to bad. took my 6 year old with me today. The table we sat at sloped badly. We were seated next to a large group with several small kids. this made it very tight. there were plenty of other tables. Once we started getting our meal it came it in parts. He got his, I got mine, as for toast she did not bring it until I went to the counter and reminded her. By this time my food wa sn old and my son finished with his meal. Won’t go back. Plenty of other good breakfast places near by

Such a great little café! We passed by it on our way up north and went in. The menu is extensive and my kids loved their meals. I had the tuna salad in an avocado and it was delicious. It even came with fruit and cottage cheese, which I appreciated. My husband had a skillet that he enjoyed too, but they accidentally put tomatoes on his after he asked them to be taken off. We thought the waitstaff was friendly, too. We will be back the next time we pass through!

Whenever we can’t decide what to eat for dinner, we always love to hit a family Greek restaurant. Had a coupon for a free kids meal at this place and so we decided to try it. The menu is quite extensive and they have breakfast all day which is a plus for the wife cause she loves omelettes. The service is great, the owners are very friendly and the food is pretty darn good. Prices are on par for the level of quality.

Great place to eat. Service is Awesome. You should stop in and try thier specials. And thier Fish Fry is the Bomb.

Found the place freezing cold, over priced and lacked in customer service. The Food was ok. The waitress kept forgetting our toast after I asked for it 3 times. Then I just gave up, we never did receive the toast, or an apology or anything taken off the bill for the missing food item. Needless to say, it was our forts and last time at this establishment.

My family are regulars here with consistent good food, good service, and good prices. There have been some changes recently, someone said there is a new owner but everything is still good just a little different. I love the breakfast specials, they are delicious and a lot of food for a great price!

Finally, decent owners of the ever revolving family restaurant location. I have lived in Wauconda for a decade now, and this location changed hands often, always with horrendous food. It finally seems as if the newest (and hopefully last) owners have their stuff together. Keep it up guys :)
