My experience was the same as Josie K. Antique Cupboard accepted my offer for an item, charged my credit card, and then informed me later that the item was no longer in stock. They refused to credit my account without a hassle, telling me to rectify their mistake by going through Paypal.(I don’t often use Paypal, and could not remember my password.) After a lengthy discussion with my credit card company, the charge was disputed. All of this for something that was never available in the first place.

I was so pleased with everything about Antique Cupboard. I got the price I wanted and they paid for the shipping. This all happened in less than 10 days. I can’t recommend them more!

I had a family sterling flatware set I had to sell. I didn’t want it melted down so I went to these folks. They gave me a decent quote, paid for shipping and two weeks later I got a check in the mail just as promised. I’m way out in California so I appreciate their honesty and trustworthiness. Someone will now be able to enjoy a very nice vintage sterling set. They provide a great service and like all folks need to make a profit to stay in business year after year.

I’m very happy with the Gorham St. Cloud demitasse spoons I ordered. These pieces require just a little hand polishing, which I prefer. Services like Replacements can over-polish silver making it look new. As a silversmith specializing in restoration, conservation, and preservation, I like polishing the silver myself in order to match what my customers own. They came beautifully gift-boxed and in plastic sleeves so they wouldn’t scratch each other. I’m sure Antique Cupboard can delicately polish your silver prior to shipping.

As a highly experienced collector of antique silver, I would say that two words more than any other capture the essence of Antique Cupboard: GROSSLYOVERPRICED. Much like Replacements, Antique Cupboard relies for its business on the ignorant and INexperienced, who do not realize that far more affordable alternatives are available for most of the items it sells. Otherwise, who would ever pay these fantasy prices? Beyond that critical issue, this business will not cheat you in any way. It is honest, if you are willing to pay through the nose. A few other gripes: Their photos are horrible. Tiny. How could anyone possibly make a thousand-dollar-plus decision based on a single, tiny, grainy photo? And yet, people do. Amazing. Even more irritating is the statement accompanying the photo that the item pictured may not even be the item available! Some of the items their website represents as being in stock are not. Try to buy it, and you may get an email informing you, that, regrettably, the item is no longer in stock. The website is careless with details of spelling and accuracy, too. And very little information is actually provided. Brief, terse, useless descriptions. And the troy weight of items, an important consideration in any silver purchase as a mark of quality, is totally glossed over. This company has a good reputation, although I cannot fathom how, other than through the ignorance of many silver buyers. Avoid.

This is a master dealer and purchaser of antique jewelry, sterling flatware and holloware. They buy and sell silver and silver-plated pieces, estate jewelry and pride themselves on their collection of Victorian silver place settings. At prestigious international antique shows such as the one in Miami, you might find knowledgeable owners, Phil and Angela Dreis.
