We ate last night here 2÷10÷16 and it was fantastic! Son’s Mac-n-cheese was outstanding, hubby’s burger delicious and my cowboy panini was also great! The tater tots very good! We really enjoyed this place, great atmosphere and our server Annisha(sp?) was one of the nicest most friendly, accommodating servers we ever had! She suggested the cowboy panini & it was a great choice-loved it. Thanks for a great meal!

Red Eye is a great place to go and eat for dinner. Everyone that works there is very nice and make sure you are having the best time while eating. Very delicious food(especially their pizzas), amazing tasting beers that they brew themselves, and a fantastic atmosphere. I would recommend anyone who is looking for a new place to try to go here.

The food was very flavorful. I had the scallops grilled in a chorizo sauce. Very good. My friend had the shrimp, also very good. Our server, Rachel was great. A wonderful personality that added to the experience.

I would totally drive back to Wausau to dine here again. It’s not only to great service, but a true Wisconsin feel that makes this place great. I have lived in Wisconsin for over 5 years and have been longing for a dining experience like this. Upscale, yet simple food dishes such as burgers and tots– but off the chain. Tots with truffle oil! Burgers with 6 year old cheddar and maple syrup aioli! Yes ma’am this is the place. Full bar is a perk. The ambiance was fun. The staff friendly and knowledgeable. I seriously would drive from Neenah(4 hours round trip) to try more of this yummy menu!

Wow, pizza was fantastic. We had to wait long for a table, so management kindly gave us a free appetizer. Very nice customer service!

So delicious! We went here for New Years. I had the Wisconsin Burger and Parmesan tots. Also tried the beer sampler. I liked 3 out of the 4 beers I tried. They were all recommendations from the server. I requested lighter beers. She seemed informational and knowledgeable! Great food and great service. One person in our party sent her burger back because it wasn’t cooked enough for her liking. Otherwise, no complaints that I am aware of. It would be nice if they had some sort of fries to go with meals though.

Can’t comment on beer that much because had only one and was very thirsty after MTB. But the burger was superb!

I travel to Wausau with my wife and teen-age kids a few times a year and always look forward to this place. What a gem. You walk in to a welcoming décor, casual, cool, not stuffy. The food is an adventure(and importantly no misadventures) in unexpected but delightful twists on old favorites. And the beer — well, that deserves it’s own review. All I can say is don’t miss their IPAs. Great service. Reasonable prices in light of the quality. We go back again and again.

We had stopped here in June, loved it, but totally forgot about it. When we were passing through the area again at this time of the year, we found it on Unilocal again! No surprise, we loved it again. The beer is good. The ambience is hip and trendy. And the food is terrific. As a vegetarian, I appreciate that I am not an afterthought in this place. There are so many options that I am already thinking about what I want to order the next time I go here. As far as beer goes, my son enjoyed the home brewed root beer. I had a guest beer, schofferhofer grapefruit, probably my favorite beer in the world. I am not a beer person and so a hefewizen with grapefruit appeals to me. But my husband is a hardcore beer lover/connoisseur(his Czech and Irish roots) who likes the hoppy IPAs as well as the hefewizens likes this one too. We shared an order of the spinach and artichoke dip. Usually, I like the idea of it but find it too heavy or dense with cream cheese in most places and so never order it. Here it was perfect. Light on fat and heavy on spinach. We polished it off. The pita bread is also a nice difference. Our son ordered the spicy wings and really liked it. He was licking his fingers :) The last time I had eaten the summer ratatouille pizza and liked it. But after the pita bread/spinach artichoke dip I had inhaled, I decided instead to go for a soup and sides. They had a sweet potato creamy soup which was absolutely to die for. Perfectly spiced and sweet, it was really wonderful. I want the recipe! And I also ordered a couple of other sides to share — broccoli with nuts(very good), truffle parmesan tots(excellent, although I wish we had ordered the roasted fingerllings instead), blue cheese artichoke stuffed mushrooms(excellent as well). My son ordered the meatballs, he usually loves them, but for some reason, he didn’t like their meatballs. I think it is a personal taste preference than a reflection of the quality of meatballs. My husband went for his usual favorite, pizza with mushroom, sausage, and onion, and enjoyed it. So overall an excellent experience. If you are in the area and looking for some good food and brew, this is really the place. I can’t wait to go back.

My wife and I have always enjoyed Red Rye Brewing’s food and friendly service, especially for special moments in our lives. We celebrated birthdays, pregnancies, anniversaries, etc. However, our most recent experience at the restaurant will make us very unlikely to go there again, or at least for an extremely long time, which is sad. On several occasions, my wife and I have tried to make reservations or at least call ahead to get on a wait list at the restaurant. There seems to be a lack of consistency as to what the ACTUAL reservation or call ahead policy is for the restaurant between the employees. This past weekend, this inconsistency ruined my wife’s birthday. After my wife tried to make a reservation or call ahead to get on a wait list at the restaurant for 5PM, the person on the phone told her that they were no longer taking reservations or wait list, which we understood and accepted. However, my wife was told that if we showed up around 5PM, even though they would not put us on a wait list or give us a reservation, that we should be able to get a table prior to any reservations coming in at 5:30. My wife and I made plans with her family(7 adults and 2 infants) in order to meet at Red Eye at 5PM, which based on what we were told, this would be fine. However, when my wife and I arrived at the restaurant at 5PM, we never expected what would come next. Much to my wife and my surprise, the hostess told us that another party of 11 had just called ahead to be put on the wait list and that we would have to wait for an hour and a half to two hours to get a table. This was extremely disappointing, considering we were told in the morning that the restaurant no longer took call aheads for the wait list, yet a party of 11 was allowed to do so in the late afternoon, long after we had called. The person at the restaurant told my wife that they could serve us right away at 5PM, but we would have to leave by 6PM. To be honest, with 7 people all having to order and eat food, along with two infants to deal with, this was very unlikely to work out. I feel that it was more of a last second consolation by the restaurant to try and save face, and I feel it was a slap in the face to a loyal customer. We were told that if we had made a reservation online that none of this would have been an issue. However, we have never been told this before, and were of the understanding from other employees that we couldn’t make reservations or call ahead to get on a wait list. In addition, I feel like there is almost a big-city arrogance with the restaurant that it has enough business from other people in the area that our business really didn’t matter, which is disappointing, because we have gone there on many occasions. This restaurant has great food, a good atmosphere and overall, the people are nice. However, the communication skills between employees is terrible and something that will continue to cause issues for customers trying to get a seat ahead of time in order to dine moving forward. I strongly recommend that the restaurant CLARIFY to all employees what the ACTUAL reservation and call ahead and wait list policy is, then make it CLEAR to every single customer what the ACTUAL policy is. The inconsistency is the biggest issue here that needs to be addressed. For those of you looking for good food, I recommend this place. But if you are expecting to call ahead or reserve, I strongly recommend looking elsewhere, especially for a special event, like a birthday.

We headed here while on a long layover at the Central Wisconsin Airport to get some dinner. This seems to be THE trendy place in Wausau — it was packed on a Monday night. This is more of a brewpub, than a brewery — they do brew some of their own beer, but a lot of the beer that they offer is actually from other breweries, and they are mainly a restaurant. I had a pizza that had arugula on it and it was tasty. Whatever your palate, you’ll find a large selection of traditional pub menu favorites along with some excellent craft beer, inside of a comfortable and crowded location.

I am not sure what to say here. Wait yes I know… who knew Wausau had this good of a thing going!!! I was in town for work and a few of us found ourselves here. Upon waking up to the tomato plants growing out front I wasn’t sure what to expect. There is bicycle parking in case that’s your preferred method of getting around town… we walked from our hotel. We sat at the bar while waiting on a table and got a round of drinks. I tried the Bloom-one of their beers. It was good. I was impressed that for a local brewhouse they did have a full bar as most don’t. We moved to a table fairly quickly and upon reviewing the menu there was just two many options. We got the pretzel breadsticks with two mustards and beer cheese and the garlic Parmesan truffle tots. I’d eat more tots if they tasted like these. Delicious. I opted for a wood fired pizza with the Thrust crust. It was great but to big for one person. This is a shareable pizza. The raves for the burger and wings were on point. We also ended up ordering and sharing 3 desserts. Carrot cake, cheesecake and pot au chocolate. All very good and perfect for the sweet tooth. All shareable except the last one. We liked it so much we came back the next night and it was on the the Man Pants beer and the red eye Sancho burger with bacon instead of ham… one of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time. The staff was super accommodating on night two. Our waitress Ashley was great considering we were an indecisive bunch. This should be on everyone’s radar when in the area.

Great beer on tap. & happy hour specials give you a dollar off! Food was fresh & delicious as well. I had the Red Eye Beer Bisque, LOVEDIT. Seriously, give it a try. Also the Parmesan tots are great dipped in their garlic aioli. Friends had the Red Eye Burger w/broccoli, and the Beer Cheese Nachos. Both raved about their dishes too. Our server was Ashley, she was really kind and attentive. She also knew a TON about heir beers and food, answered all my weirdo questions. Great service all around here. If you’re in the area, it’s a must!

We ordered the beer samplers, mushroom brushetta reduction… shrimp skewers. badabing wrap .side of finger ling potatoes and the chocolate pot for dessert. The guys didn’t not like the dark beer. found the lighter beers much better. The mushroom brushetta was not good… the wine was not reduced enough and it had a v bitter after taste… The rest of the meal was v enjoyable… the lemon aioli on the shrimp skewers paired beautifully… the wrap was good too. The dessert was the star. though a little high on the price., it was delicious. I would have ordered it again immediately if KC hadn’t pulled me out. Glad to have stopped for dinner at this place. Cheers !

I loved the feel of the place and the bikes all over the ceiling were a cool and interesting twist. I understand the owner still rides a lot of them which makes it even better. I enjoyed my meal and we had great service. If I was a beer drinker, this probably would have been five stars but I think it is a great option for lunch if you’re in the area.

Beer: My dad didn’t really know which beer to choose, but the waitress gave him some samples(even one on the house). He thoroughly enjoyed a couple of the beers. I tried Tragically Hopped and it was so good I bought a howler to take home. Food: I ordered buffalo wings and the parmesan truffle tots. My dad and I agreed that they were both outstanding. Highly recommend the tots. He had the Wisconsin burger and raved about it. The chips didn’t look too great, so get those tots for your side. Overall, I’d definitely go back if I’m ever in this part of Wisconsin again.

We stopped here on our way to Eagle River. The service was excellent, every employee we met was extremely friendly. The food was excellent. My beer was horrible, the description did not match what I got aside from the raspberry(I got some raspberry beer that I don’t remember the name of). I did taste some other beers of those I was with and they were much better. I would definitely go back!
