Stopped in for appetizers and drinks. Nothing special. Bruschetta was not great. Tomatoes were mixed with powdered Parmesan and left to soak, which left the texture gritty. Bread was great, however. Cheese plate was okay. Cheese were served cold, and the melon under ripe. Wine(by the glass) list is ridiculous. They’re listed as ‘cabernet’, or ‘Pinot Noir.’ No region or maker listed. Service was great, however.

This could have been a 5 star place if it weren’t for the snooty hostess. It was my birthday, I just wanted a nice dinner without the sass you blonde woman! Anyway, the service otherwise was fantastic. The bartenders were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. They suggested their house old fashioned, which was tasty. But the real star was our server who boldly went with the self-deprecating sense of humor with our table. I loved it because no one likes someone who takes themselves too seriously. As for the food, I started with the split pea soup. I would never order this normally but decided why not, and it was so good. The little bits of bacon added a bit of salt and the croutons were a nice crunch. We also ordered a few small plates — the grigliato calamari tenero, filetto di manzo alla griglia, and torta di risotto. Or squid, beef, and rice, haha. I would pass on the risotto cakes because they were kind of bland but the beef and squid were really tasty. As for my entrée, I got the costatine di manzo. Perfectly tender beef short ribs on a plate of parmesan mashed potatoes and sauteed spinach. I ended up using the table bread to mop up whatever sauce was left on the plate. It was so good. So good that I wasn’t really paying attention to what my friends ordered nor did I obnoxiously stop everyone from eating to take the perfect food pic. Definitely coming back for more! And blonde hostess lady, if I say I called multiple times and left a message regarding my reservation, please believe me instead of going on about how you didn’t get the message and making me feel like poop. Kthanksbye.

We went here for Mother’s Day, had reservations for 6pm, and got seated right away when we got there a few minutes early. Mom and I both got specials while my fiancé got the gnocchi and my brother got a seafood ravioli dish. The food was all delicious, we all agreed on that. This easily would have been a 4 star review but for one thing. My mom and brother cleared their plates but my fiancé and I had at least 1⁄3 plate left each. Our server came to clear my brothers and moms plates and asked if I was done. I hesitated significantly and finally was offered a box. He came back with my leftovers and whisked away my fiancé’s plate without even asking if he also wanted a box. Literally ½ to 1⁄3 of his entrée wasted. Frustrating when portions are large and somewhat pricey. Service from then on(for desert options, desert order, and the check) was incredibly slow. I joked that it wouldn’t even be dining and dashing at this point because they were taking so long… Great food, but mediocre service at best. Disappointing.

Dined at Il Mito on Friday ¾/16. Atmosphere was wonderful, service was great; however, dinner was not as wonderful as the recommendations received prior to attending. Tried the Pollo vesuvio which as described was a volcano of flavors — it was not. The chicken was very tough and the dish was Meh at best. I’ve heard such great things about the restaurant, a little disappointed. Not sure if I’ll return.

My husband and I ate here on Feb 10th for a pre-valentines dinner and had a mixed –but pretty pleasant– experience overall. I loved the space: dark walls, dim lighting with flickering candlelight everywhere, very intimate and romantic — perfect for date night. Food and drinks: I started off with the free glass of wine with check-in(love that!) and my husband was pleased with the beer selection. Then we were asked if we wanted bread(of course) the bread was perfectly baked and the roasted garlic/olive oil dipping sauce was unbelievably good. We had the bruschetta(delicious) as an appetizer. For our entrees I had linguine with seafood and white wine tomato sauce(linguine and seafood cooked perfectly but the sauce was bland and underwhelming) and my husband had the lasagna with prime rib bolognese sauce(he said it was good but the only thing special about it was the sauce). Finally for dessert we had the tiramisu and both loved it. So it was a mixed experience, but mostly positive overall. We will return and try different entrees. Overall, I would recommend this as reasonably-priced Italian place good for date nights or low key gatherings.

We dined at Il Mito last night… good to find a civilized dinner on Super Bowl night. We each had the special… pasta with seafood for him and ahi tuna for me. The pasta was loaded with seafood and was just delicious. My ahi was cooked perfectly(I love it really rare) and was accompanied by a potato cake and glazed multicolored carrots. Absolutely wonderful. Thank you. Our waiter was very professional, and personable… making it a very enjoyable evening.

Lovely restaurant on North Ave in Tosa! We had made reservations(highly recommended for Sat night) and were seated right when we walked in. The place was packed! My girlfriend and I ordered a salad and an entrée each and shared the tiramisu. The tiramisu was out of this world. I wish I could have taken a plate home! I had a captures salad and she had the asparagus small plate salad and they were both delicious. She ordered the tortellini and I ordered the ravioli. The tortellini was better than the ravioli but both still good. The service was a tad slow but our waitress was very good and highly informative. Looking at everyone else’s food around us I would definitely come back and try some other items. If you want to splurge for a date, you can get a table in the kitchen demonstration area and the cook makes the food in front of you and pairs it with wine. It looked really cool!

I took a group of people out and easily reserved a table online. We had been here before many times and even done the private chef experience in the backroom. Normally very good food and service. We started with the cheese and meat platter. We were a table of 6 and the waiter could see this. Still the appetizer came out with 3 pieces of each but three very small pieces of cheese and meat. Not quite even a small taste for everyone. We also ordered the calamari which was good but was more of a salad than it was calamari grilled and served. Still the taste was good. Various dinner companions ordered a multitude of foods. I had the lasagna and I specifically asked if it was a bolognese based lasagna. I was assured it was but it wasn’t. It was a very bland, average, overly cheesed lasagna with nothing special the mushroom based bolognese wasn’t very mushroom-isa. Others ordered standard pasta dishes like ravioli, sausage and penne etc. All seemed to enjoy it. I would give this 4 stars but the lasagna was just so bland I can’t upgrade it. I’ll go back because I know generally speaking the quality of the food and the service is good.

We went out last night to celebrate my nephew’s birthday and once again had a fantastic meal with great service. In general I’m not a huge Italian fan but this place is just a true gem in Wauwatosa offering great food in a casual and inviting environment. We started off with mushroom caps and calamari. The caps were very good and the pan fried calamari was excellent. For our entrées we had spaghetti bolognese and gnocchi bolognese. Both these dishes are outstanding with just the right amount of seasoning. Our server was extremely knowledgeable and attentive offering just the right amount of humor. I’ll definitely be back again and again and again…

When the Hubben and I were still living in California, we had a go-to Italian place that we absolutely loved… housemade pastas and sauces, food that was fresh from the market, and a great wine list. Man, I missed that place. But now I have Il Mito, and that makes me happy. We decided to try it on a whim one Thursday night, and made a reservation for 45 minutes after that decision.(Reservations= YAY. I hate waiting) We both started with the pea soup, which was creamy and fresh and had a kick to it, maybe from the awesome amounts of garlic. I followed that with the special of the night, Pumpkin Ravioli topped with scallops, shrimp & asparagus… perfection. Housemade pasta, a perfect light sauce, and seafood that was cooked correctly made every bite delicious. Unfortunately, I had eaten too much of the awesome bread beforehand so I couldn’t finish. Hubben had the tortelloni(chicken I think?) and he enjoyed it even though his loyalty still lies with a different Italian place in Milwaukee. Next time we will definitely ask NOT to be seated near the bar though… there was a huge group of post-work happy hour people crowding the area which made it hard for the servers to get through and also made it a lot louder.

Found out that it was 10 Days of Tosa so why not get a great deal? $ 10 lunch, yes please. The food was amazing. Started with a small side salad and a side of caesar dressing. A couple of my girlfriends upgraded to a small Caesar salad for and extra $ 2. I had the carbonara and loved it! It was done perfectly and the sauce was light and tasty. Another friend ordered the mozzarella panini which came with a side of eggplant fries. They looked so amazing and luckily my friend allowed us to sample one. Oh my!!! They were soooo yummy. I would not hesitate to order a side of «fries» next time as an app. My other friends ordered the crab ravioli and couldn’t stop raving about that either. We ended our lunch with some fresh raspberry sorbet. It was the perfect way to end a sunny day on their fabulous patio. On the way out we got to meet the chef and raved to him about our server, Cesar and the food. Will definitely be back for lunch or dinner.

Excellent restaurant. Service was friendly, timely and helpful. Bruschetta was outstanding as was salad and the eggplant Parmesan was light and some of the best I’ve had. They serve wonderful warm bread with roasted garlic in olive oil. Outstanding, and they were not stingy when we asked for a refill. Three of us split two excellent pasta dishes for a main course and everyone was thrilled. Sauces were light, and the spicy red sauce was really complex and beautifully seasoned — not too hot but enough heat. All this and the free glass of wine special on Unilocal plus pretty reasonable prices given the quality of the experience means we can’t wait to go back.

So I’m rating this four stars for the experience. When I invited my classmate to an advance screening at AMC Mayfair, she had mentioned that she had a taste for Italian Food. So after the movie, I searched Unilocal for some nearby recommendations and I remembered that this was one of the places that I had wanted to try out. Now, by this time, it was about 9:30p and they closed at 10p. When we came in, they were very polite and wasn’t irritated that we showed up less than an hour before closing. The waiter seated us, placed a napkin in our laps, and filled out glasses with iced water. He was very attentive and even honored my Unilocal coupon for a complimentary glass of their House Wine. I ordered the Insalata Caprese and my classmate ordered the Linguini con Fruti di Mare. We asked our waiter to load it up with Parmesan Cheese. My Insalata Caprese tasted very fresh and the mozzarella cheese was very fresh as well. I ordered a glass of the Lambrusco House Wine(per the recommendation of the waiter since I was torn between that and the Moscato) and it was delicious! Next time I will order it with a pasta with red sauce. My classmate enjoyed her meal as well. We will definitely return!

My friends and I came for a late dinner. I’d recommend calling ahead for a reservation on the weekends. We had a group of seven, and we would have definitely had a large wait if not for the reservation! We were seated in an awkward corner table, but the highlight was watching Chef Michael Feker himself give a group demonstration within ear shot. I’m glad we had this spot. Some of the tables for two along the wall looked quite cramped. The food was delicious. The roasted garlic with olive oil appetizer was incredible. I could have had a meal of just that! Everyone enjoyed what they had. I had the duck, and it was good. This place is a favorite among my friend’s parents, and I can see why! It’s a great place for a date, groups, and anything in between. The check-in glass of wine is a great bonus, but this place doesn’t need gimmicks to get me to come back!

You can’t go wrong here. I personally loved the food, experience and the ambiance overall was fairly decent for a location in tosa. My husband who is not a italian food love(yes those type of ppl exist haha) had other great options too. Food We had to try the pizza since there were a lot of reviews. Wo i convinced my 5 year old to order the pizza. I agree with other Unilocal reviewers. The pizza it very good. I ordered — rabbit gnocchi z(why not try something differe). It had a slight gamy favor to it which was complemented by the creamy sauce. Love it! I recommend trying it if you want something different. Steak(cant remember the exact name of the dish) — my husband loved it Pork chopps– our oldest son enjoyed this. I had a bite of this dish and i really enjoyed the seasoning that went into the pork. Thanks to Unilocal i got a free glass of wine ! While this could be a great option for those who live in the area, i am not sure whether i will return though. I recommend others to try this place out!

Have been to Il Mito twice now. After my first visit I wondered why on earth I hadn’t been to Il Mito before. Their food is outstanding. You’ll start off with the rosemary bread served with garlic and olive oil. I’ve also ordered the traditional bruschetta as an appetizer twice. This app is great and the bread is soft(I don’t like it when bruschetta is served on crusty, crumbly bread). For the main meal I’ve had the lamb shank and a special-short ribs. Both were fall-off-the-bone, tender, mouth wateringly delicious. Sides such as polenta(yum), mashed potatoes, and veggies have been fantastic as well. If you check in on Unilocal they’ll give you a free glass of house wine(nice). I have also tried the tiramisu and it was a huge, scrumptious piece of tiramisu. Service is just right. There have been a few snafus each time I’ve been here like an air conditioner leaking and glasses and plates being chipped. Not the end of the world, but things that could be improved upon. Right now I’d say they’re more of a 4.5 star place, but I’ll round up. Overall this is a solid local establishment with great Italian eats.
