I love their apricot chicken salad. It’s super yummy. I also like the quaint little shop that you walk through. This is my third time coming and the expresso machine is still broken. :(

Fantastic lunch place(open 11am-2pm only). Sometimes there can be a wait, but you can entertain yourself by browsing the adjacent shopping area. Quiches, soups, salads and sandwiches are all freshly made with some seasonal additions /daily specials. They serve an orange spiced iced tea that is so good you can skip the sweeteners. Their desserts are amazing as well. I recommend: Texas Caesar salad Club panini Avocado BLT Chocolate bourbon pecan pie

This is one marvelous gem in Waxahachie! The gift shop is beautifully put together with just enough antique to keep you looking through everything twice. At the restaurant I was seated within minutes and once inside I felt like I was in another country! Very beautiful and lovely décor. To eat I had the special of the day, Southwestern chicken quiche with a red pepper jalapeño cup of soup and their orange spiced iced tea. Presentation was nice and it tasted even better. I finished my plate and wanted more. I’ll definitely be a regular here.

I’ve come here for lunch several times while passing through Waxahachie, and this place never disappoints. It’s located in an old building in the historic downtown, behind a cute little boutique. The menu consists of a variety of salads and sandwiches, plus a daily lunch and soup special. Sandwiches are served with chips, or you can make it a sandwich and salad or soup combo for a small upcharge. Even with the upcharge, prices are average and about what you would expect to pay. Today my coworker and I each ordered the fall salad, which came with a delicious array of candied walnuts, goat cheese, and red peppers. The dressing was too heavy, so I would recommend asking for it on the side, but otherwise the salad was delicious. I like this place and typically make it my first lunch stop when passing through town.

I read about Dove’s Nest in a magazine several months ago. By chance I had to be in Waxahachie for work today and I had the pleasure of eating a delicious lunch there. Their chicken salad and baby spinach salad are fantastic. The cool vibe and excellent staff made the experience so great. I loved the gift shop, too, and I’m kicking myself for not purchasing some adorable napkins while I was there. I hope I can make it back soon.

Poor customer service was told that the wait would be 20 mins waited 30 mins then people that came in after us were sat before us made it known and then they sat us. Waited another 30 mins for 1 entrée the special which was pre-made.

A friend told me about this place and said, if I was ever in Waxahachie I need to check this place out. What a great tip! Very nice menu, specials and first class deserts. I really enjoyed having lunch there. Fun place to take a day trip and have lunch.

Really love this place, the atmosphere, the service and especially the food. They have the best Caesar Salad and Turkey Panini sandwich. My wife loves their Spice Tea and soups. Will continue to go back and remind everyone this place is a Gem!

This is my wife and mines favorite place, we try and go every Saturday. Haven’t had anything bad yet, the burger, blt, and panini are some of our favorites and always save room for desert, the pecan pie is so good!

Not a bad place. Had a rustic Italian sandwich — heavy on the bread and light on the meat and cheese. Came with chips which were good. Nothing really special or bad. Atmosphere was open, but tables were a little cramped.

I was in town on business and a colleague brought me here for lunch. It was fabulous. I had the Texas Caesar Salad; wonderful! It had a little heat but backed off nicely. I plan on eating here the next time I’m in town.

A group of five of us were in the area for business for a week, and we came here twice(that’s how good it was). The Dove’s Nest is a combination gift shop/restaurant. To access the restaurant you must walk through the gift shop which contains an eclectic variety of goods. At the restaurant, service is very efficient, and everybody is very welcoming — it’s a very warm sense you get when you walk in to the restaurant. It feels like you walked into someone’s home. Recommendations: Drinks: Orange spiced iced tea Appetizers: Brie cheese, or goat cheese Entrée: Chicken apricot salad, avocado BLT, turkey sandwich Definitely would come here again, it seems like they tried really hard to make you feel welcome and enjoy your experience.

The Dove’s Nest is always my favorite place to stop in Waxahachie. I fell in love with this place while in college in Waxahachie. Their chicken salad is my personal favorite, but you can’t go wrong with anything on the menu.

This was my first time here. Decided I needed some much needed me, myself and I time before baby gets here in 4 weeks. I was pleasantly surprised. I’ve been to the Dove’s Nest to shop but never ate. Why oh why hadn’t I done so before today. It was refreshing, quaint and just relaxing. Don’t get me wrong they were definitely busy but the atmosphere allows you to just sit back and slow down. I had the ABC Spread, Avacado BLT, Tomato Basil Soup and Blackberry Bread Pudding. Everything was excellent. Lauren provided great customer service. I will definitely be back. May make this a weekly outing before baby boy comes in April. Happy Tummy! Happy Bump!

This place is fantastic, truly a hidden gym. My whole family loves it. The wait staff is always friendly, helpful, and efficient. It’s a popular place, but you never get the feeling of it being too hectic or overcrowded. Plus, if you ever have to put your name on the list and wait to be seated, which is never long at all, the attached shop has so many wonderful treasures! As far as the menu, it’s all amazing, but don’t miss out on the artichoke and goat cheese spread, the corn relish, or the chocolate pecan pie.

I dined here for a private event, and I thought this place was very lovely. The décor is a mix of antique, rustic and upcycled«junk», which gives it a lot of character. It’s spacious and has two separate sides, one for dining and the other for shopping. I thought the waitstaff was fast and friendly, the food was phenomenal, and it’s in a nice area. This is a charming addition to the downtown historic area of Waxahatche.

Found another gem thanks to Unilocal! So I have to drive from Mansfield to Ennis a couple times per month. Every once in a while when I drive through the lunch hour I call my friend Ronda, who works in Waxahachie and ask if she wants to do lunch. Being the adventurous type, yesterday I looked up a place to stop in Waxahachie. I found the Doves Nest. Talk about a hidden treasure. If you don’t look close, you would never guess there was a restaurant among the antiques and gifts. When you walk in it looks like an antique shop. You curve around and there’s the hostess stand. We had a 10 minute wait that flew by because there was so much to look at. The menu is really small but the choices are still give you a ton of variety for lunch. They are a soup, salad and sandwich kinda place. Ronda had a panini and I had a apricot chicken salad sandwich. Both were really tasty and the portions were HUGE! I totally intended to get the pecan pie for dessert upon entering but there was no way I could have eaten another bite. Note to self, go back and eat the pie first. When you get a sandwich you have the choice of a side of kettle chips with salt and pepper or a side of fruit. I got the fruit. I got a huge slice of watermelon, a loaf of red seedless grapes and a quarter of an orange. I thought this place was a great value for what you got. I’m not sure why it has two $$. I had a huge sandwich, a bunch of fruit and a spiced orange ice tea for $ 11. This place would be a great stop during a girls day out. The only thing that I can say that was a bit of a pain was that they’re only open 11am to 2pm Monday through Saturday, so you’ve got to time your visit right so doing a late lunch doesn’t work.
