I went here for a baby shower recently. I am not a foodie so I was a little nervous I wouldn’t like anything. Great service, amazing food, big portions and the restaurant is gorgeous. Highly recommend even if you palate is limited. Plenty to choose from for everyone.

Food quality was uneven. The arugula salad was awesome, as were the french fries that came with our entrees. My wife ordered lobster, which was undercooked. I ordered lamb chops, which were nicely spiced and perfectly cooked but too chewy. The Baklava was good, but not excellent(the honey should be thicker and sweeter, I think). I expected better given what we spent.

Very good quality foods. Octopus was amazing. Sea bass, today’s fish of the day I visited, was done right. Spinach rice could be better; in my view, it was overlooked. Definitely this is a restaurant I keep in my favorite list. Service was excellent.

went for my wife’s birthday with another couple. Solid Greek seafood, decent service, very loud, and let us BYOB, but be careful of the cost of fish sold by the pound. $ 76 for Dover Sole, $ 62 for a prawn entrée. Both were very good, but Estia is not located in midtown Manhattan! I don’t complain about the cost of food very often, but buyer beware!

Love this place! We ordered the octopus and calamari appetizers. The octopus appetizer was one of the best tasting octopuses we have had. For the entrees, we got lamb chops, a whole sea bass, NY strip, and shrimp pasta. They were all amazing! Great drink menu selections too. Server was very attentive. We will definitely be back!

I’ve been here twice with my gf. This is a very good restaurant but please be ready to feel a little ripped off. The ambience is nice but it’s a noisy place. The service is sharp and attentive overall but it’s not a laid back or relaxed place. The appetizers are outstanding: the meatballs were delicious and the the spanakopita was very good. Really all of the appetizers were excellent. The main meals have also been very good, including grilled fish sold by the ounce and a seafood pasta dish that was good. The prices are ridiculous though, even when comparing to many other main line fancy restaurants. Also the same applies to the downtown Philly Estia, to which I’ve been as well. The wine and dessert prices in particular are a joke. It just gets a little annoying.

BRUNCHREVIEW: Great food if you can afford it, but the brunch is solid but not exceptional. After visiting the location in Philadelphia, my girlfriend and I came to the more laid back Taverna location in Wayne, PA. The interior is beautiful — lots of wood, a large spacious bar area and décor that is both old-fashioned yet still modern. We came on a Sunday for Brunch right when they opened, and the restaurant was mostly empty. Service was top-notch. We ordered the Octopus appetizer($ 17), Mediterranean octopus charcoal grilled served on top of fava purée, the Avga Spanakia($ 13), a three egg omelet featuring a traditional combination of spinach, leeks, feta, tomato, and scallions served in a cast iron skillet, and the Avga Me Kreas($ 14), a country style omelet served in a skillet with bacon, sausage, potatoes, kefalograviera and kasseri cheese. The best of the bunch was the Octopus which was cooked tender on top of a scrumptious fava purée. The cast iron omelets were just okay, with the Avga Spanakia being the best of the two, the creamy spinach reminiscent of spanakopita. And we of course enjoyed the $ 5 mimosas(a little weak) and bloody marys(a good deal). Overall, the brunch here was pretty good, if a bit pricey, but not extraordinary. There are better deals with better brunch options at other places nearby, but if you get a gift card or want a classier brunch in a nice location, Estia Greek Taverna will satisfy.

I just came back from this restaurant and was not impressed. Food was marginal and my friend and I were meeting for a dinner to catch up on things and we were basically booted out of our table as soon as we finished eating. We were not offered any more water or anything else. In fact, people kept coming by and removing our glasses even when they saw we were just enjoying our conversation. If there is a time limit to the amount of time we can have a table, they should advertise that. So very rude.

Good, but a few missteps and a little expensive. Everything we had was very good. And, except for the avgolemeno soup, $ 2-$ 5 too expensive with(except for the soup and the arugula salad) portions on the smaller side. Expect no leftovers.(Note that prices at the restaurant are higher than on the Unilocal menu.) The wine selection was disappointing. Greece has some great wines, yet only about 1⁄3 of the selection is from there. Also none from other countries in that region, except for Italian wines(which are just so rare in Philly). This is a missed opportunity. That said, the wines we had were very good. Our waiter was good, but was clearly coached to sell the highest-cost items. For example, he pointed to the highest-priced Greek wine as his favorite, then stopped; we had to ask him to describe the other Greek wines. A note about the facility: try to sit away from the bar if possible due to the bar crowds. Also if possible, sit in the right side of the restaurant, so you don’t have to push through the bar crowds to get to the restroom. Bottom line: I’d go again, but not frequently due to cost. And I’d go at non-peak times to avoid the bar crowds and also for easier parking.

Estia was my first experience at a Greek restaurant and what a great experience it was! My family and I decided to try Estia for my mother’s birthday, so we all sat around the table and tried bites of each other’s meals. We ate lamb chops, organic salmon, eggplant, zucchini, calamari, halibut, and orzo that were all to die for! To top off the night, we had some of the best baklava I’ve ever had! The cozy, chic atmosphere and exceptional service added to the experience even more.

The bartender Christina made a great Manhattan. The Greek white wine was also very good. The octopus and grilled stuffed calamari were tender and the fresh fish was as advertised. The baklava was also superb. The menu is a bit pricey but the quality makes up for it.

Great dining room with a knowledgable staff. Our first visit. Try the Estia fries and the Greek salad. Both awesome. We will be back.

My first time dining at Estia — the mediterranean spread appetizer was amazing! I ordered the Moussaka, but the spice was not to my liking(not the kitchen’s fault), so I switched with my friend and had the seafood diavolo — that was fantastic!!! The drink menu was also unique… I had their ‘greek margarita’. The service was great — very attentive — when they heard we were celebrating a birthday, they brought out a dessert. The restaurant was crowded(and loud). We dined later and didn’t feel rushed since it was the end of the night. I would definitely go back.

If you are a fan of Tom Wolfe and his novel The Bonfire of Vanity, this is the place on the Mainline to view«social X-Rays». The crowd at Estia is young and thin. Since I am neither, I found this a bit off putting! Enough with my social commentary and on with my review. Estia is a busy place with a large central bar, indoor and outdoor seating. It has a pleasant Greek Taverna décor on the inside. Lots of limestone and old wood housed in an upscale strip mall… The service was«eager» from the hostess who offered me three seating choices to our waitress who knew everything on the menu and commented on the wine’s bouquet. Prices were steep here. For example, the menu had a $ 48 breaded plaice fillet imported from Holland. Really?! Flounder from Holland in a Greek Taverna on the Mainline? I had a delicious Romaine salad with feta cheese and yogurt dressing and a «meh» salmon dish with«Spanish» rice that no Spanish cook would recognize. My wife had the octopus which was delicious. Sadly there is nothing authentic in this place. Good service, pleasant décor but very expensive for hit or miss food with a pretentious menu.

My wife and I sat outside today. Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Greek water was excellent. Mussels were awesome, could have been a bit hotter for my liking but it was a bit cool outside. Red beet appetizer was perfect with potatoes and white beans. Rice and spinach was delicious. Great spot, bit pricey but well worth the money!

To start off, amazing ambiance. While the crowd felt a little more upscale, the overall experience was very nice. The hummus and bread was amazing. I got the steak which was good, although not as flavorful as I would have hoped. The service was a little slow towards the end of the night, but this was to be elected as there were not many on staff by the end. All in all a great experience. Would definitely recommend.

Had a great dinner at Estia. We all enjoyed the Estia Chips and the Octopus was excellent. A great choice of fresh fish dishes to choose from on the menu and specials. On this trip I shared the Black Sea Bass. It was good but I didn’t expect so many bones; still a good piece of fish. A complimentary piece if Baklava was a nice finishing touch. Will come back if in the area.

Most of us had the weekday business lunch, which includes salad, main dish and dessert for $ 19.99. A good deal. The salad was very fresh and lightly dressed The biftecki souvlaki was flavorful– I would order it again For dessert, I had the fruit plate. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys Greek food

Stopped in for a late brunch on Sunday with my family and we really enjoyed our meal. We made a reservation in advance, but found the restaurant fairly empty when we arrived. We were able to get a quiet seat in a large booth where there was mood lighting(which was odd for a Sunday afternoon…). We started with the estia chips and beets which were fantastic. Seriously, get the estia chips, they are done perfectly. I had the moussaka as an entrée and was very happy with my choice. The fish gyro was also delicious. Portions are a respectable size and the price is just on the edge of pricey. I’d definitely suggest Estia and will return when I’m in the area!

We loved the center city location for years… So nice to have our own suburban version of this Greek paradise. Neil has done a great job with the wine list. It’s fun to learn about the Greek varietals of wine and still have some french options like the White Burgundy. The sampler appetizer platter is a great dish. I live the tzaziki and red pepper hummus(see pic) The fish apps are great… Especially oysters(fresh), mussels octopus, and the shrimp cocktail(see pic) was a nice surprise. The lamb meatballs are yummy with a spicy sauce. We like it I sit at the bar for wine and apps and also dine in the restaurant. The whole fish entrée, Lavraki and Tsipiura are really unique and special. The warm veggie stew called briam is a tasty side. The Greek yogurt with honey is a great dessert and a nice way to finish your meal.
