Nasty, food not fresh! Do yourself a favor, if your looking for diner food go to Pompton Queen!

i understand it is under new management. i went there a few years ago and was not impressed, but i went again. 1 staff was very friendly. 2. prices were okay, and the portion sizes were good. 3. i was a little surprised by their spaghetti night on wednesday. 9 dollar spagetti dinner, an extra dollar if you want broccoli on top.

Restaurant hours and delivery hours are different, and the Unilocal app doesn’t differentiate that. Very friendly staff and delicious food.

The food was ordinary and the server got our orders wrong.

Monarch never disappoints, and tonight was no exception. After repeated recommendations, I decided to try their Shrimp Salad Pita. What delighted me the most, was the perfect balance of shrimp and dressing. The shrimp were neither too small, nor too large. The dressing was light enough to allow the real flavor of the shrimp to come through. Such a difference, from so many other places, where shrimp salad is often 90% dressing. The Monarch Shrimp Salad is Goldilocks-style: Just right! This is filled into a pita, with just a touch of American cheese, to add interest, but without overwhelming it. I chose Monarch’s great broccoli on the side, and I accompanied my meal with the house Caesar salad. If you enjoy shrimp salad but haven’t had a really good one yet, do stop by the Monarch Diner and enjoy one of theirs. Service, of course, is always excellent!

Found out the Monarch Diner was closed down by the Board of health for 4 days — around June 28-July 2 Checked with the Health Dept and they verified that they did close it down. Think we will wait awhile before going back

Food is amazing. Definitely worth stopping in instead of going down the street to the Pompton Queen. Servers are kind and attentive and the quality of the food is on point. I love the Monarch! Definitely going back soon.

Went for lunch with a couple of colleagues and we all got qiesadillas. The food was overly greasy and drenched in oil. Service was fine like usual but last couple of times that I gave been there the food seems like it has gone down.

Sad. new owners – new menu and new food… pancakes were the size of a Frisbee and real«sinkers».at least one inch thick… ordered pancakes with berries and bananas… the fruit was cooked inside the batter… what a shame. This used to be the Diner to go to… not any more… service poor,…waitresses and cook stood around register talking… there wasn’t any one else in the place… now we know why…

This place used to be my favorite diner in this area. The last 4 times I’ve been here however, have left me… disappointed. First the service is still good, the staff are really nice and attentive. The problem for me has been the food, I feel that the quality has gone down. What used to be really REALLY good diner food, is now just like all the rest. The menu has changed, the prices have gone up, I guess it’s time to move on.

Short stack of banana nut pancakes and California omelette are my go to items here. The perfect breakfast!

Nice people, but they keep changing hands. Food is consistently above average and the service is quick and friendly. The place is cozy and busy but not too hectic so I would recommend it for lunch.

I went here for my first ever visit at noon on a holiday Monday. I noticed their national license plates motif. The menu from Grubhub and the paper menu here don’t quite seem to match so I had to start from scratch for my lunch search. I decided on the chicken kebob. I watched the local news and listened to 80’s hits from Huey Lewis, Paula Abdul and Duran Duran while I ate my rice chicken soup and then kebob. I spent more time there than I had planned because I had so much food on my plate. It seemed that most people took home their leftovers so they must have gotten large portions too.

This diner’s food is average for what it is – not really offensive, but nothing special either. The service was a little slow, but I wasn’t really in a hurry. It really shouldn’t have been a terrible experience. The real issue was the decorations. I’m at a restaurant to eat in a nice atmosphere, but I’m generally not that picky. However even I have my limits, and giant pictures of naked women dressed as monarch butterflies is not my idea of appetizing décor.

Used to be a really good diner but last two times there, last month, it went down hill big-time. The food was sub-par…do not know why… Did they change ownership? Service was poor and the food was really bad. I will try to see if new ownership as this sometimes is the case for poor quality food. Will not go back.

Randomly stopped here for lunch after a meeting in north Jersey because the parking lot was so full that we figured it must be good, and our expectations were met. The Greek beef gyro comes accompanied by a Greek salad and both were delicious. The coffee flowed freely with attentive service by our waitress, and I’d be happy to stop here again.

Wow! Best French toast hands down. This diner isn’t huge but the food quality is always great and the atmosphere is updated. The food is fresh and the help is always great. Sometime diners can give you sketchy wait staff for some reason, but not here. Always friendly. I also prefer this diner to the one across the road because there is never a huge wait.

Let me begin by saying that my review has more to do with the customer service than the food. The food is fine but similar to many of the diners nearby. I had bought a Groupon and went with a friend for dinner. I told the server in advance that I would be using the Groupon. We had dinner and I asked for an order to go for a friend. I was told no problem, got the food and went to pay. I was then told that since I got an order to go, I could not use my Groupon to pay for that meal. Not when I ordered it, but as I was paying. I was told that the cashier would talk to the manager, which she did, but was told I could not use it. The best part? The manager couldn’t be bothered to get up from having a conversation at the counter so she just shouted her orders across the diner. Then shouted at me to take it up with Groupon. From the counter. Again, from across the diner. Great customer service and thanks so much for making me feel welcome in your establishment. I used to work in customer service so I know that you can’t accommodate every customer but you can always take the time to be professional and courteous. I’ll never go back. I’ll be going to Burger Deluxe up the road. Great food and great customer service.
