I love this place! I love the whole vibe. It’s very warm and cozy inside with awesome, quirky, little decorations everywhere. The staff is friendly and the food is wonderful. For lunch I highly recommend the Tuscan shrimp sauté. It’s so flavorful with so much going on and the shrimp is cooked to perfection. My partner gets the Pollo Ravioli which is also wonderful. You also can’t go wrong with the shrimp and grits. Everything I have tried here so far has been great. This place is a bit pricy but well worth it, I really enjoy it.

My husband took me here for Valentine’s Day last year. Worth the drive from Johnson City. Food and service was spectacular. The entire place seemed to run flawlessly and that is hard to do on one of the busiest nights of the year. Highly recommend it for any occasion.

Their Sunday brunch is delicious, although not very healthy. My husband always gets the country breakfast– grits, eggs, sausage & pancakes. I love their banana nut pancakes, and their grits are excellent. I do wish there was a Greek yogurt & granola option. My dinner favorite is their eggplant napoleon, and my husband loves their shrimp & grits. We get great service and love find atmosphere.

Excellent reviews from all four diners for lunch the week of Christmas. Fish and chips special was fantastic — great breading with perfectly flakey white fish. My husband had the Korean tacos and is still talking about them. Greek platter also received rave reviews. Fun atmosphere, too!

Came over to Asheville for a quick weekend trip and this place was recommended by a few friends. Only about 5 miles from downtown, and so worth the drive. With an eclectic feel and laid back ambiance, we enjoyed the atmosphere almost as much as the food. Duck egg rolls and Into the Dragon were amazing. Would recommend this spot and definitely coming back the next time we are in Asheville.

Ehhhhhhhhh is the best way to describe this wanna be hipster joint in Weaverville. Built on a classic diner frame, the inside was a terrible hodge podge of Eurotrash decorations, including the cliché«Nativity scene» pop art. They were trying way way too hard. We went at around 230, so being crowded I thought was a good sign. It turns out that it might be the only place that was open at the time. I always ask for server suggestions, so the lamb gyro suggestion sounded great, especially when she said the owners were Greek. So I had the lamb gyro, which tasted like a frozen lamb that was microwaved. The pita was prepackaged and also frozen. It was trash and I don’t use that term lightly. For $ 11 it was not worth the lettuce they wasted on it. Forget the lettuce I wasted on it. My companion had meatloaf with sweet potato suffle and fried okra. The meatloaf was weak. Mushy and lacking in tasted with the traditional ketchup sauce on top that wasn’t sweet or savory, more just like ketchup without any seasoning. The potato suffle was baby food. Too sweet and mashed and processed to its gloomy death. The fried okra was the only good thing that we ate, so we both left hungry with a nearly $ 30 check. The only thing I can say is that I didn’t try the staples, burgers and basics. Maybe if I’m desperate enuff to go back I will.

I live in Weaverville and have passed this place at different times of the day and was always curious about it because the parking lot was always packed! It’s adorable from the outside: an eclectic modern retro diner… if that’s a thing! Finally my husband and I found a time to check it out. Went on a Thursday evening about 7pm and it was packed as usual — but at least I had the wherewithal to reserve — so we got seated right away in a little booth across from the counter in the main diner room and we were excited to sample their wares. We ordered a couple of cocktails and were on our way to hopefully being wowed! 10 minutes passed, and the drinks finally came. It was busy in there, but we were starting to get worried that it was going to be a looong night. After about 15 more minutes with our drinks drunk, the young waitress returned, picked up our empty glasses and while we were pulling the menus back out to give her our order, she whisked them away and disappeared into the distance without a word. Ok. Another 5 minutes passed and she finally returned — so we made sure we ordered everything at that point since we didn’t know when we might see her again! Now for the food. We ordered 2 appetizers — The Gnudi Formaggio and the Duck Spring Rolls. Both were good choices. The gnudi was light and velvety, not pasty like they can be, and the wilted baby arugula added just enough of a texture and pepperiness to make the dish pop. The spring rolls were actually and suprisingly full of tender duck, which isn’t always the case with these things, the crust was crispy and presentation was well executed. So far, good choices all around. On to the entrees — I ordered the scallops and pork belly. Being a fan of both it was an easy choice for me and I was anticipating this dish with excitement. I have to say that I was extremely underwhelmed when the plate arrived. Ugh. There was such a mishmash of stuff on the plate that it looked as if it came off a buffet. The seared scallops may have been crispy golden when they cooked them, but they were soggy and overcooked when they were delivered. The pork belly was tasty but there were so many different flavors on this plate(the cognac pan jus, the lingonberry jam, the chevre.) that the flavor combination was just not good. Less is more — especially with scallops and pork belly. Both have their own very distinct flavors and should be highlighted, not buried. So I have to give this dish a 2 ½ –3. Disappointed. My husband ordered the Lamb Tacos which sounded great with the slow roasted lamb, chimichurri, mint sauce, kasseri cheese, etc. Unfortunately, the lamb may have been slow cooked but it was dry and chewy which made the rest of the dish suffer. For $ 17 it was an overpriced twist on a gyro that didn’t satisfy. The appetizers came out pretty quickly, so we relaxed a little bit(we were really hungry at this point). The entrees took about 25 minutes to get to us. and looking at them: overcooked, mushy, sauce laden, etc. we figured that they were probably sitting under a heatlamp in the kitchen for quite some time… it sure tasted that way. The restaurant was super busy, the waitstaff a bit frenetic and unfortunately the experience wasn’t great a great one, in the end. The prices are a bit high, the entrees we had were more like concoctions of way too many ingredients for their own good, and we came away with the conclusion that they are taking«eclectic» too far. It is a slippery slope and not an easy thing to achieve. It is one thing to create a funky space, quirky and interesting — but I think they tried to match that with their food creations and went way too far.

We had rented a cabin in Weaverville for a long weekend and found this place on our first night — we enjoyed it so much we came back our last night again in lieu of driving back into Asheville. This place is awesome — an upscale dive restaurant started in an old dinner with a couple of additions. The interior is decidedly funky with a mish-mash of Greek frescoes, velvet bar stools, and a TV playing old movies — something for everyone. All the food we had was excellent! The beef carpaccio was flavorful with a bit thicker than usual pieces but very tender. Our first night we had the special which was a seafood stew with mussels, scallops, shrimp, mahi-mahi, and chorizo. I’m typically hesitant of seafood stew because something always seems to be over cooked but they nailed this — everything was cooker perfectly and the broth had an amazing tangy tomato thing going on. We also had the Gnudi Fromaggio both times and it was worth every delicious calorie — it’s a heavy dish though it worked to share for us as an appetizer. Little pillows of cheesy goodness in a sundried tomato cream sauce — just get it, you will not be disappointed. We had the Greek plate another night which was what you would expect, everything had great flavor and hit the spot. Splurged on the Tiramisu and enjoyed every bite — very light and airy — could have used a bit more coffee flavor but overall great. Service was great — better our first night than the second but nothing which ruined the meal. Both times they were packed but we never felt rushed and the food came out quickly and hot. I’d say it is worth the drive from downtown Asheville to try this place out — it’s a change of pace but equally as good!

Outstanding restaurant with an interesting variety of cuisine options. On my visit, I had the Seared Scallops with pork belly, and was floored by the depth of flavor in the dish. Cool ambiance with quirky decorations too. Definitely one of the best in Weaverville.

$ 6 charge to split the Steak Wedge Salad? Really? Small mussels and not enough on the plate. Thick, creamy and messy sauce reminded me of Campbell’s Mushroom Soup. Impossible to eat delicately. Should come with hand wipes. I can’t say we weren’t warned; they claim their food is provocative. Annoyance accomplished.

We thoroughly enjoyed dining for lunch at The Stony Knob Café. I had a Greek side salad and the Salmon and vegetable stir fry. My companions had Chicken Marsala with wilted spinach with mashed potatoes and the bacon cheeseburger and fries. Everything was fantastic with quick and courteous service. I highly recommend.

I love their Sunday brunch, and the lobster bisque(when it’s cooler weather); AND they have the 2nd best bloody marys. They have somewhat of an open kitchen but it’s still fairly quiet, I love when I get a table in the«upstairs» portion, very homey.

My sister called her husband and said…“better have magical plans for dinner when I get home”. Ok, so we made some plans for the Stoney Knob. They had been many times, this was my first. Quickly seated @ 8 pm in a reasonably busy time. Service was excellent throughout. Enjoyed the caesar salad and really enjoyed the chicken piccata! Parking can be tight on busy nights. Looking forward to my next visit!

We have heard many good reviews so on a rare date night we decided to try it out for ourselves. The food was great and so was the service. The one complaint I had was the $ 12 martini that I would have never ordered had I known the price.

One of the reasons I love this place so much is because I’ve been coming here since they opened as a small, independent, local diner many moons ago. The food has always been really good, proportions better than expected, and quality and consistency top notch. These guys have grown on their own terms, work really hard, and absolutely infuse awesomeness in the way of personal creativity both in the continued expansion of the restaurant, as well as the menu they serve. Plus, it’s been family owned and operated since the beginning. In terms of décor, they break every rule in the book. Textures, patterns, styles… every thing clashes. Yet the extreme eclecticism seems to work, and even feels warm and inviting. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are great. I’ve never had a disappointing experience from the service to the food.

Everyone at my table ordered something different and everyone agreed that whatever they had was the best ever. That’s good stuff. The shrimp and grits were off the charts creamy, rich and awesome. The fish taco special is one that everyone tasted and raved about. And, it was huge! And finally, their classic chicken and waffles– big, warm, delicious and perfect in every way. Go here and then go back again and again. Trust me.
