Ate at the Twisted Laurel in Weaverville yesterday. My son and I have been sick to our stomachs since. We shared some nachos and each had the Bison Burger. I had a couple of beers. My wife had cheese bites and a small salad. We walked out having paid $ 71, way over priced for the quality food and snobbed servers. Won’t be eating there again.

Great social option in Weaverville, same food as downtown, little different vibe but I still dig it, love the owners, and waitstaff is always super friendly. I like the Greek chicken salad, the tomato bisque is pretty good too, be sure to get it if it’s on special.

The restaurant was lovely, structurally. Comfy, casual and perfectly lit. The generic Walmart art on the walls was disappointing, with Asheville being known to have so many talented, local artists. The food… There are three things a Greek restaurant should do well– lamb, salad, and bread. The bread was pretty good at least… I ordered the chicken and lamb gyro platter… The chicken was good, but the lamb looked like some cruel joke from a school cafeteria. It must have been processed chopped and pressed. It was not edible. The salad was made of iceberg lettuce and a few good olives with a decent dressing. The portions were ample, but I would have preferred quality ingredients over the quantity of food. The prices were low, but again, I would happily have paid more for better food. The service was not much better. While our server was polite, we only saw him twice– to take the order and deliver the check. Others filled our glasses and delivered the food. After we had ordered, we heard a different server tell her table about the specials, which our server had never mentioned. I wonder if the pork belly was any better than my lamb-leather… had to be. Also, the 9pm «band»(older guys playing covers) started warming up before 8pm. We had intentionally come earlier to miss the noise of it.

Nice place, good food. What impresses me the most is how much they care about the community. They partner with the high school Often and I think it’s amazing to see businesses care about their community. Those cheese bites… yum!!!

If everyone in Weaverville is as friendly and helpful as Ashley, we will never go home! The salmon and Greek Salad was top notch and a great suggestion. We will definitely be back and request Ashley!

I had the chicken salad. The salad is what I would call a weed salad. Dressing was mediocre. Portions were ample. Others in our group had chicken parm, served with too many noodles, and a lamb chicken platter. The lamb looked like shoe leather. It was all edible, but none of us liked it to return. Atmosphere and décor was nice. For a small town it was ok, but don’t make a special trip. The soft pretzels and dipping sauces were fantastic.

We had heard great things about this place, but we’re somewhat disappointed. Weekday lunch menu looked yummy. Seated immediately… Service was excellent… Ambiance is casual and comfortable. Now I am a huge fan of Greek food so I was excited. I am on a lifelong search for the perfect spanakopita so when I saw Yia Yia’s Spanakopita on the menu it was my obvious choice. I wish Yia Yia had been in the kitchen! It was an ample serving for lunch. It came out hot and looked delicious. It was ok. I may give it another try.

Great food. Greek Meatballs were prepared very well. We went in and the back space was fairly empty(a few families along side the side tables) the server sat us in the two person table almost right in front of the stage. We didn’t mind bc it was empty and a band wasn’t playing. About 25 min into our dinner the band arrives and was setting up right in front of us and moving about, kinda sucked to have to watch and listen to that. If you know a band is gonna set up and other tables are available farther away the don’t seat ppl right in front of the stage

Great service, very friendly staff, excellent food, and a wonderful Bloody Mary!!! Friendly greeting as soon as we walked in. Let us choose our seat, which is very important to the 4 year old. Our waiter was excellent, always keep the drinks full and was very knowledgeable about the menu, ask for Dylan. Then the food, absolutely wonderful, no complaints. Fresh pasta was very good and the buffalo burger was perfect.

I’ve been to this location a couple of times already, but this visit has been my favorite! As an app, I ordered the hummus… The red pepper was the best. I ordered the ribeye and shrimp and it was yummy! The ribeye was cooked exactly how I ordered it, which is surprisingly difficult in many restaurants. My friend ordered the spaghetti and meat sauce and portion size was huge! The atmosphere was great and they had a nice selection of high gravity beers. I drank Mother Earth for the first time and really enjoyed it! You must definitely try it if you are in the area.

Place was packed for a Thursday night. impressive for a small town. A little loud but that’s to be expected. The meatballs were AMAZING as was the meat sauce that goes with them! Also had the twisted nachos super yummy cheese mix which is there secret ingredient to make you crave them!

I went to Twisted Laurel with a friend who had been there once before and thought I would enjoy it. The menu is varied with everything from pizza to steaks, subs and pasta. I ordered the chicken platter and my friend got the flounder platter. Both platters had generous amounts of food and arrived shortly after we had ordered. My chicken was absolutely delicious and my Greek salad was absolutely the best I have ever eaten. The dressing had the most incredible flavor! My friend said that the flounder was excellent as well. The prices are very reasonable for such excellent cuisine. Our server was exceptionally friendly and courteous and kept our glasses filled. The location is also a plus for the restaurant. The building is full of character — high ceilings, archways, sliding doors, brick walls… Parking was ample at the time we were there even though there was a good crowd inside. The manager was very visible and visited our table to chat and to offer a sample of the meat loaf for the next time we visit. It was absolutely wonderful. Even after I had cleaned my plate, I couldn’t stop eating the meatloaf and the potatoes. I look forward to my next visit to Twisted Laurel. It truly was one of the best meals I have enjoyed in quite a while!!! I highly recomme

Food was amazing. We started off with the beer battered cheese bits. We then got the Greek chicken and the lam gyro which was amazing! Come between 12 – 4 and you get the lunch menu

I really love this place. I don’t love everything about it 100%, but that doesn’t make my love any less sincere and genuine. Twisted Laurel is AWESOME! Hopefully this review will help you tailor your experience so you can really enjoy Twisted Laurel as much as I do. 1) Gorgeous location in a venerable old building on Main Street weaverville. Cheap real estate means that you can really stretch out and enjoy the high ceilings, wood beams, and broad windows at an affordable eatery, and they don’t have to be packed to the gills all the time, just to keep their doors open. 2) The staff consists of an adult woman manager, supported by what appears to be the entire senior class of the local high school. They are all as sweet and accommodating as can be. 3) The GREEK items on the menu are OMG fantastic. Let me get a bit philosophical about this for a minute. This is Greek food. You know who else was Greek? Plato. Plato was a philosopher, and he had this thing he called the«platonic ideal». To summarize, he basically said there was a disconnect between the way you imagined something should be, and how it actually was in the real world. Spanakopita is like that for me. Close my eyes and imagine spanakopita, and it’s the best thing in the whole world. But I had never actually HAD spanakopita that good. Until I stumbled across Twisted Laurel. Best spanakopita I’ve ever tasted. Exactly like what I imagine when I think of spanakopita. Flawless. And they give you a lot! You can eat warm Platonic ideal spanakopita for dinner, and have plenty left over for cold Platonic ideal spanakopita at the office tomorrow. Make all your busybody cubicle mates jealous. Rub it in their faces. Not literally. You need to EAT it. Don’t waste it literally rubbing it in anyone’s face. But figuratively… you get my point. Also, Amazing traditional greek salads, nice kalamata olives, giant meatballs, gyros, lovely stuff. 4) Nice desserts, many of which are made right there in house. 5) Great selection of local beers. 6) Open on bad weather days when most other Weaverville establishments are closed. Now a word of advice: Don’t bother ordering anything that ISN’T on the Greek menu. The non-Greek items are rather hit-or-miss. The pizzas, in particular, are nothing to write home about. Funny thing is, some years back I was vacationing on the Greek side of Cyprus, and the pizzas over there were bad in exactly the same way. I don’t think it’s a lack of cultural authenticity we’re dealing with – rather, Greek-style pizza is just a fundamentally inferior product – much cheesier and doughier than its Italian cousin. Don’t worry, though, because there’s plenty of DELICIOUS Greek stuff to order. You won’t go hungry! How can you go hungry with luscious gyros and shawarma and olives? Greek people and NC people love to grill meats, and we’re both damn good at it(we’ve been perfecting it for centuries). Take some people from Greece and put em in NC, and you’re asking for a perfect meat storm. It’s gonna taste GOOD! Don’t care for meat? No worries! Spanakopita is calling your name!!! About the music: I really do wish they’d reconsider their station selection. It’s a small thing, but every time I go there, someone remarks on how bad the station on the radio is. It’s always some obnoxious modern country stuff that is really tough for someone with urban tastes(like me) to enjoy. I know this is just a matter of personal preference and, hey, it’s Weaverville, but I believe somewhere on that dial is something that more people, on average, would enjoy listening to. Classic rock. Disco. Funk. Whatever. Just not that particularly dismal flavor of Country that evokes the tube-lit aisles of Walmart more than it does the open plains. In conclusion: This place is a must-visit for people in and around Weaverville. I absolutely adore them, and if you go there be sure to order the spanakopita. You won’t regret it. If they ever take the pizzas off the menu and find some more crowd-pleasing music, Twisted Laurel will earn an easy 5 Unilocal stars.

Twisted Laurel is a fairly new restaurant in Weaverville. It is a good looking place with high ceilings and lots of space. The service is friendly and it has a casual lively vibe. I unfortunately didn’t care for the food or drinks. We started with a sangria, that had to be sent back and exchanged for a beer. The sangria tasted like cheap wine mixed with some overly sweet sort of mix. It tasted like candy. really bad. The beer was fine. We got the pasticcio and a sandwich. The sandwich was ok but the pasticcio had that«just out of a can» taste. Their portions are big and the prices are low. I would probably go back for a beer or something but I don’t think I would eat there again.

We came with friends who had been here recently. My wife and one of our friends had the spanakopita, and they were both thrilled with it. The friend, who is a spanakopita aficionado, declared it to be the best he has ever had. Our other friend had the Greek salad with chicken, and I had the gyro platter, both of which were delicious. All four of us had the Greek salad, and its fresh ingredients, combined with the homemade Greek dressing, made it the best Greek salad I have ever tasted. I left nothing but olive pits in my wake. The dressing is also sold for $ 6 a bottle. What a delightful experience we had – the service was very good as well.
