Although it’s not a good day for golf, it’s warm and cozy at the bar, food is great, and the friends are the BEST!

I so wanted to like this place after Johnson’s and LaGrange closed down. 5 of us dined at this restaurant on Saturday, 11⁄7. This my be the worst dining experience I have ever had. It was clear the restaurant was very busy and the kitchen was overwhelmed. I’m sure it would be better with fewer patrons. We sat in the bar and the server was quick to get us menus. She offered us water but the restaurant ran out of glasses. Our server brought us 3 glasses(not 5) that were still wet from the dishwasher I presume. The water had a heavy taste of chlorine so no one drank it. We brought our own bottle of wine and they were also out of wine glasses which we had to wait for and she again returned with 3 glasses(not 5). We got the wine open and poured and she returned with the other glasses a few minutes later. Our server took our appetizer order. I ordered chicken wings and she informed us they were out. We ordered some other apps and she sent the order to the kitchen. She returned for our dinner order and 2 in our party ordered ribs. She sent our dinner order to the kitchen and approximately 10 minutes later came back and said they were out of ribs. The 2 people ordering ribs reordered. One ordered the ribeye the other the duck. 10 minutes later our server returned with one order of duck and the ribeye and served it. No appetizers yet. She returned a few minutes later and we let her know that we did not yet receive the appetizers. She said she would check. 10 minutes later she came by and asked if we had our appetizers. Sheesh. She went back to the kitchen and 10 minutes later returned with the appetizers. At that point we just said take them back, we no longer wanted them. 10 more minutes go by and she brings 2 more entrees including my jalapeño burger which was supposed to have onion rings but came with fries. I have to say my burger was pretty good and the fries were sensational. That was the highlight of the evening. The last person in our party has yet to be served and the rest of us have finished. He finally received his duck dinner 10 minutes after most of us were done. The food quality and preparation were mostly sub par. The ribeye was sinewy and undercooked. One duck portion was twice as large as the other. The mashed potatoes were good but you only got one small ice cream scoop of them. The green beans were dry and and shriveled. The one person in our party ordered mashed potatoes with his duck and got a baked potato instead. The salads that came with a few of the entrees were decent. In about the middle of all this we politely complained to the manager. She understood our frustration and completely comped the entire meal and for that I will give them another try on a future steelhead trip. This place has a lot of work to do to handle larger parties when they are busy. A couple of tips for the staff: 1. Know what you are out of before you take orders and explain that in advance. 2. Have adequate diningware on hand(glasses, utensils, etc.) 3. Train your wait staff on how to open and pour wine — we will gladly pay corkage. 4. Never serve an entrée before the appetizers unless the guest requests it. 5. Make sure the orders are correct before bringing them to the table. 6. Examine the food before you serve it and make sure you would eat it before bringing it to the table. GOODLUCK! I really do hope the Trinity Alps Bar & Restaurant succeeds. We really like having a decent quality restaurant back in Weaverville.

Everyone in Weaverville mourned when Johnson’s restaurant closed(the former restaurant in this location). We almost cried at the thought of losing one of the best restaurants in this small town. I have great memories of the coconut shrimp tacos and the amazing, gargantuan burgers… So, I was elated to find out that a new restaurant would be opening this summer in its place! I went on opening night and twice more in the weeks that followed. I’ll cut to the chase. The food is really good here. Especially for such a small town like Weaverville. Although I was baffled on my first couple of visits because I had to ask for a knife(only a spoon and fork were rolled in a napkin), I have thoroughly enjoyed the food and service. A special props to Rachel, the manager, who is super friendly and tries to remember your name. Gives a great small-town feel to this restaurant. Okay, the food: Bacon blue burger– ahhh so good. Made with a homemade brioche bun, caramelized onions, delicious blue cheese, and thick bacon. I had dreams about this burger after our first meeting. And I have eaten many a burger in my lifetime. And don’t even get me started on the onion rings. They the real deal. Duck breast– nice. Although needed to be rendered down a bit more: gave the feedback to the waitress and she was happy to hear it. Ribs: Left a lot to be desired. Bbq sauce was mediocre and the ribs did not fall off the bone like they are supposed to. In the end: this place is still new and finding its footing. I will keep coming back to see what they change and what they keep. Overall, I am so happy that Weaverville had a nice restaurant, especially after La Grange closed down.

Great lunch food, service and prices! Stopped here after a backpacking trip in the trinity alps wilderness and enjoyed the ambiance, beers, and awesome food. We got the fish and chips, burger sliders, fish tacos and the chicken bacon ranch sandwich. All were freshly made with locally sourced ingredients and delicious. Beers were extra cold too. Highly recommend this place!

Wow! Ate lunch there yesterday. It was awesome! Had a Chicken Bacon Ranch sandwich and it was phenomenal. The bread used was sooo good! Also had the Calamari and it was great! It is very nice inside. Definitely exceeded my expectations. I would really suggest giving this place a shot!
