I’ve been here 3 times and each experience was terrible for different reasons. I kept going back because I hoped that my previous experience was a fluke, but I don’t think so. Experience 1: I ordered their egg and toast breakfast. I assumed that since I’m ordering a food at a restaurant that it would have some distinct taste that I couldn’t achieve at home, but it was literally scrambled eggs and toast– which nothing on either. No salt, no pepper, no flavor. And they didn’t offer jam or honey or anything for the toast. Experience 2: Chai tea latte. At first the drink was basically milk. There was almost no chai flavoring. The man working was kind enough to(by the time I was essentially done) taste some of the leftovers he had made and realized his mistake. He made me a new and stronger one– for which I was very appreciative. Unfortunately, this chai tea tasted like fruit loops mixed with raisin bran. What kind of chai is that?! Experience 3: I ordered an almond steamer and a pastry. The almond steamer barely had any flavoring in it– so I had paid over $ 3 for a cup of hot milk. And I found a small black wiry hair in my pastry, which really destroyed my appetite. These are all little things though. The worst thing to really note is that a friend of mine with a severe nut allergy stopped there to pick up a breakfast muffin one morning. She asked them if the muffin she was ordering had any nuts in it and they told her no. Immediately upon biting into it though she sensed something crunchy and spit out what she was chewing. Her entire mouth was itchy and swollen. If she had swallowed any of that muffin she could have been at the hospital. Very unprofessional of this establishment in my opinion. I will never go back.

This place is what all coffee houses in St. Louis should be! Had a caramel latte and it was great & they were willing to serve breakfast food in the middle of the afternoon! Prices were very reasonable. The atmosphere is great — there is even a quiet reading room perfect for Webster University students like myself! Also forgot to mention the coloring book for inpatient people to color in while waiting for coffee!

Ever since I had cubano coffee many years ago, i’ve only been able to find a good one in Florida, until I stumbled into Adobe today. I was absolutely floored! I was in a hurry and ordered a latte also in case the cubano was awful. The latte was just as amazing. I didn’t get a chance to try the food, but it all looked like the girl working had just pulled it out of the oven. I’ll be going back tomorrow.

I feel like all I give is the full-star rating, but I suppose I just pick all the great places! I love, love, love Abode! I started coming here a while ago when it was still titled Café Nura. I used to come and get smoothies with friends after working out at the Webster YMCA. Now I’m in a few times a week on my way to work. Remy, the owner, as well as the other employees I’ve dealt with, are all very friendly and accommodating. The inside space is very cute and cozy, and although sometimes big groups take up most of the main area, there is a little side area that has a couple tables and a comfy couch. I typically get iced drinks, and I’m happy to report that they don’t overdo the chocolate in my iced mochas. I still want to be able to taste my espresso! I mostly want to rave about the food. Abode makes their own granola, which I have had on multiple occasions in their yogurt. So. TASTY. I also recently had a slice of their quiche, which blew my mind. I’m really picky about my quiche. Often quiche is too spongy, too dense, too ick. Abode’s was perfect. If I remember correctly, it had tomatoes, onions, cheese, and perhaps spinach? One of the best breakfasts I’ve had lately. I’m currently sipping one of their strawberry-banana smoothies, which I saw was made with cranberry juice. Also good. The muffins I’ve had this week have both been thick and moist and delicious(blueberry and lemon). I’m a regular and will continue to be. I hope more people will give Abode the attention and love it deserves. Thanks, Remy!
