This place is really nice. They are super accommodating and helpful. I typically go when we’re having a nicer dinner party/special occasion and I want to splurge on a bottle of wine or two. The only problem I have is that they recently sold me 2 bottles of wine that I found the next day for 1⁄3 of the price! I love supporting local businesses, and I know the rent in webster isn’t cheap, but that’s quite a mark up!

The bottles full of wine were patiently waiting for my arrival when I walked through the doors of this charming little wine shop in the Old Orchard district of Webster Groves. I stopped in late Saturday afternoon by appointment for a wine tasting. My husband had called ahead to set up a tasting of French wines as that is where I am exploring a bit these days. We walked in and were immediately greeted by the friendly staffer, Stephanie. I love the openness of their shop. It is just a large, high ceiling, expansive room where wine shelves lined the walls but the center of the room has a simple décor that really worked nice in this space. The wine is categorized by region and there are nice big maps of Italy & France showing the wine regions of each hanging high on the wall for easy reference when tasting or shopping. Stephanie got our tasting going for us and I have to say she was a hoot. Aside from being a total jokester she was very knowledgeable about wine. She took us through a tasting of 7 wines from various regions in France with impressive expertise. I enjoyed almost all of the wines we tasted as Stephanie assisted us with noting things about each while we swirled, sniffed, slurped & swallowed. Noteworthy tastes were a Red blend from Luberon, Domaine de Marie which had a unique peppery spice and a super delicious 2010 Sauternes from Château Brunery LeCuste both of which we bought and took home. I am excited to try out one of their wine classes on a Tuesday night taught by Stephanie which is sure to be both fun and educational. I will write a check in when I do.

I hopped in today to grab a bottle of wine on my way home. It was around 8:00PM but they normally close at 7:00PM. They were doing a wine tasting so I got lucky! The space is really inviting and kind of homey. You feel like you’re walking into a show room for a house or something like that. I tip-toed around the wine tasting but they seemed to have a good selection overall. The prices seemed to be a mainly $ 20 – 30 or more per bottle. This is a little more than I like to spend on just a bottle of wine for me, myself, and I. But to heck with it… I indulged! The selection size is less than a lot of other wine shops but good none the less. If you’re looking for a nice bottle of wine this is a great place to go.

Great service. Ask them anything! A wonderful neighborhood shop where they’ll spend as much time with you as you need to pick out something perfect in your budget. Great variety of wines from all over the world and some local craft beers.

I’m a new wine-o. I attended a French wine tasting class there last week and it was deLIGHTful! I went with three of my girlfriends. The staff was SUPER knowledgeable and eager to pass on anything and everything they could tell us about Bordeaux, Burgandy’s and everything in between. Con: 1. The material was way over my head. I could have used a basic, basic Wine tasting 101 class. This is not necessarily a fault on the store, however. They were GREAT about answering basic questions. Je l’aime Garland Wines!

Love, Love, LOVE this shop! The staff are all extremely friendly and impressively intelligent about wine! The wines that you will find here are definitely not your garden-variety brands and types that you can find at Dierberg’s. At Garland Wines you find the obscure, small, small production wines that really identify the regions they come from. Because of their relationship to the brands they carry, they have frequent«meet the vintner» events. How often can you find that???

Isn’t it a pleasure to shop at a business where the owners & employees welcome you & so obviously enjoy what they do? Each time I stop in at Garland Wines I leave appreciating their panache & courtesy. On a number of occasions I wanted a special wine for a particular reason & asked for help choosing: a gift for a dear friend, a seduction wine for a romantic evening at home or a luscious wine to pair with an elaborate home cooked dinner. Visits can be educational & a lot of fun. The wine consultants are friendly, knowledgeable & genuinely interested in assisting me to pick a wine I will love. They offer samples, consult with each other regarding current inventory, discuss types of tastes that complement or clash with what I plan & offer to search for or order particular vintages. Their pearls of wine wisdom are served with affable attitudes & good will. There is never a condescending word uttered by anyone here. My experiences have been much less satisfying with Grapevine Wines in Kirkwood, where the owner would rather focus on those who fancy themselves wine aficionados than on less wine-erudite folks like me. Garland Wine’s interior is warm & uncluttered. Windows are delightfully strung with colorful empty bottles hanging from ribbons attached to their corks. Periodic wine classes & tastings are offered in-house & they will gladly arrange private tasting parties in the shop after closing or even in your home.

I randomly came accross this place while walking around. Art was so helpful, made some amazing suggestions and offered some deliciously yummy samples. Walked out with some amazing wines, a port and some great info! A must see!
