Bald Furniture

I was very excited about going to Bald Furniture. I was looking for wood furniture made in the USA. When I went today I wasn’t very impressed. I asked if they could stain the furniture and she gave me a funny look and said she is booked up for three months. Based on the reviews and website I thought the furniture could be stained by Bald Furniture. The pictures on Unilocal are a bit misleading, the store is filled with unfinished furniture with little room to move around and «browse». I guess if you already have an idea or a picture of what you want AND you’d be willing to stain it on your own this might be a good option. I just wasn’t impressed.

Great customer service! I no longer feel I have to order from an out-​of-​state manufacturer.
I spoke to the lady who does a lot of the finishing and she was very helpful. I have a list of items I need and can’t wait to start placing my orders.

I honestly couldn’t get home to write this review fast enough.
I just spent about an hour and a half with the owner talking me through a project. Had I just dropped a ton of money on furniture? Nope. Was I ordering custom pieces from them? No sir. I was there to buy a single can of stain (General Finishes), and I asked his opinion on how best to handle the project.
He then spent no small amount of time teaching me all about finishing wood working projects, types of woods, stains, etc. He gave me better advice than any online forum I’ve found and gave me better instruction than most YouTube tutorials. He even looked over a picture of my project, advised me about the wood and told me the best way to handle it. He and his manager, Diane, both spent a lot of time with me and gave me great advice. The stain was reasonably priced, and the selection of colors was great. The owner even DOWNSOLD me, informing me I didn’t need the big jar of stain for a project my size and advised me on a smaller can. I couldn’t believe both the courtesy and honesty here. At the end of our transaction he gave me his card and told me to call or swing by if I hit any hitches in my project and he would be able to advise me.
I cannot speak to the quality of furniture (from my brief experience it was solid wood and looked very sturdy) but I can say that I have not had a customer service experience like this at a store in a very long time. I will, without doubt, be making the trek to Bald Furniture again.
Also, it is a very difficult building to find. Really watch your GPS or you’ll go straight by and miss your turn.

As the previous Unilocaler alludes to, this store is incredibly difficult to find off Highway 3, (this location was formerly the store’s warehouse), but once you do, you’ll be pleasantly surprised by the selection and most importantly the level of genuine interest the husband and wife owners take in ensuring you find exactly what you are looking for in furniture.
Generally speaking the selection leans a bit towards the functional side aesthetically, but given that everything can be customized, just about anything can be built or styled to your specifications. Prices are also what I would consider more than reasonable considering the stout workmanship of the products.
What I found especially helpful is that the owners took the time to suggest solutions to my existing furniture concerns, even going as far as to suggest a far better type of bracket for my existing shelves and provided me with a sample kit. This not only proved to be far superior to what I was using, it was in fact better than I could find my local hardware store. This sort of service was definitely above the call of duty and much appreciated.

Great place for custom oak furniture. We’ve bought bookcases, a 3-​pc entertainment center, a couple dressers, a big dining room table with 10 chairs here and some small stuff. We’re pleased with it all; we keep going back.
They have a lot of furniture in stock and without a finish (thus ‘bald’ furniture.) They’ll also custom build. You can either finish it yourself or you can pay them to finish it to your spec. (Mostly we let them do the finishing.)
They’re hidden in plain sight in a little industrial complex on Hwy 3; they’re all the way at the back. Prices are very reasonable.
