Great take out sushi! Some of their rolls are really unique and my husband and I will occasionally drive 20 minutes to come get it! Definetly prefer taking it home since their eat in is small but they’re always pleasant, no matter how busy they are.

It was a pleasant surprise to find a Japanese/Korean place in Webster. We were visiting for a college swimming championship and have been working our way through the towns’ restaurants. Very unique in that you walk into a tiny oriental market with most of the essentials a displaced Asian might need. You order at a counter to the right. The woman who took our order was very pleasant and efficient. There is a small, but pleasant dining room with a clean and well maintained bathroom adjacent to the Oriental store, where you can sit and they bring your order out to you. The Miso was very good and hot. The salads was mostly some pale looking but crispy iceberg lettuce with a few shreds of carrot and a mild ginger sesame dressing. I had tempura udon noodle soup which was well prepared, tasty, and hot. The noodles tasted fresh and had excellent texture. My wife had a Bento with an unusual egg battered marinated chicken nuggets along with salad, rice, California rolls, gyoza and seaweed salad. The California rolls were freshly prepared and the portions in the Bento were filling for lunch, but the gyoza was cold. We also asked for hot tea, which arrived in take-out 16oz hot drink cups, which we thought was odd. This place didn’t seem to really be a proper sit down restaurant, but wanted to be more than a fast food outlet. Prices were more in line with fast food, so that’s a good thing. The food quality was good, service was quick and there was a party of 8 Japanese men having lunch while we were there. So if you have a hankering for decent Japanese or Korean food, but aren’t looking for a regular sit down service restaurant, or happen to need to pick up some fresh ginger and fish balls to cook at home, then you’ve found the place.

At this point, I consider this some of the best sushi I’ve had in rochester. I know what you’re thinking: that’s really not saying much. But it compares to stuff I’ve had all over the country, including San Fran and NYC. I highly recommend their spicy tuna. The owners are very friendly and hard working. Definitely worth the trip out to webster. I also recommend either doing lunch here or getting it for take out dinner. They have a little shop attached and a small dining area as well.

This place is a small hidden gem. From the outside I was very skeptical but decided to trust my friends opinion. I am very particular about Japanese food having been raised in a Japanese house hold. Eating the best sushi from California to Florida. The sushi is very reasonably priced and fresh. If I lived here this would be my daily spot.

An incredible variety of Asian groceries that aren’t easily available anywhere else. The owners are incredibly knowledgeable, and are more than happy to assist in any adventurous cooking endeavors! Sushi platters will always be the most popular hors-d’oeuvre at any social gathering – elegant, yet broad enough to cater to the tastes of all guests.

Good sushi. Decent prices. Grocery store atmosphere, definitely not what anyone would consider to be a restaurant.

I used to be a regular at Fuji-ya. But when they closed in favor of Bento-Ya, I didn’t stop visiting. Well, I regret that, the food is still very much like Fuji-ya, and they have some great groceries for sale. Although the eating area is more limited, I feel the place is perfect for a lunch, or for a stop before going grocery shopping. Their seafood salad was outstanding, will definitely visit again.

Bento-Ya is an Asian grocery store and café hybrid. The selection of groceries is small, down to the necessities/staples, however their menu is as plentiful as any other Japanese restaurant minus the hibachi. You have an array of sushi, kitchen dishes, and bento boxes to choose from. I’ve had the spicy pork ginger bento box and it’s packed with flavor and not spicy to me. The bento boxes are good portions and includes the main entrée, miso soup, ginger salad, seaweed salad, pork dumplings, rice, and half of a cali or spicy tuna roll. Place and pay for your meal order at the counter. There’s a small seating area in the back room past the two grocery aisles. It’s not ideal for large groups, more so a quick dine in spot. Don’t expect alcohol and wait service where you can spend hours there shooting the sake. It’s not that type of venue. There’s a small parking lot, but if that’s ever full, there’s residential street parking available. The owners are friendly, the location is on a main road, the food is good, and you can do some shopping too.

I have had sushi all over the place, from here to San Diego and back. This place has no comparison! Best sushi out there! And, not to mention, the workers and owners are extremely friendly and helpful! They know what they’re doing!!!

Went in. Bought a deep plastic ramen noodle bowl. I also bought what looked like ramen noodles but with asian letters i could not read. The sweet lady helped me pick these out. Told her i liked spicy chicken flavor and no seafood flavor. Got home and the powder base was oyster base. Threw all away in garbage. Cant blame her, language barrier besides my chopsticks and ramen bowl are great!

I stopped by Bento-Ya on the way back from a failed trip to El Rincon out in Sodus needing some quick food to make me not pass out during the drive. We grabbed a couple refrigerated dumplings which had good flavour but we didn’t have the time to re-cook them properly. All of their items are pre-packaged so don’t go there intending on getting things made on the spot. Their parent restaurant Fujiya is nearby so if you’re looking for items made to order you should probably go there instead. They also seemed to have a good selection of Japanese grocery ingredients including frozen fish and a selection of sushi items for sale. Not much else to say since we only tried 2 small items but it is a good thing to see something different up in the Webster area.
