This place was a lovely surprise. Very clean, huge menu, great quality. The only reasons we didn’t give five stars were because the prices were a shade high, and my son’s breakfast scramble was just OK. Everything else was fantastic. Nicely cooked eggs, crisp and flavorful bacon, and tasty fruit. Excellent grits. Would highly suggest this place.

Just finished an amazing breakfast here! My first time to dine at the Egg and I and I am 100% satisfied. They have classical music playing and an old French café style ambience that sets a backdrop for the AMAZING food they serve. Our server, Mary, was friendly and took great care of us. The fresh squeezed orange juice, perfect! The coffee is fantastic and you can even smell it when you first walk in! I had the crossiant with ham, cheese, eggs and farm potatoes. My mother had the French toast, which was so good I got in trouble for taking so many bites from her plate! My croissant was light, flaky and just the right amount of butter taste. My eggs stole the show though. They were scrambled to perfection. If you haven’t been, you should definitely dine at the Egg and I, you won’t be disappointed.

HORRIBLESERVICE! 5 tables were seated after us, received and ate their meal and we still hadn’t gotten ours. Supposedly it never got put in the computer. Manager FINALLY brought it out 45 minutes later and the order was wrong. We just walked out. Will NEVER return and highly recommend you not to as well.

We are charter customers of this place. We dropped in during construction to ask when they would open. They said«Next Sunday/Monday/??day» and gave us an invitation for a free meal on opening day. Since we’d been looking forward to a new breakfast place we went. In a way we got a free meal — in a way we didn’t. Though they assured us they would not keep the money they twisted our arm into contributing the price of the meal to their favorite charity. At the time it seemed like they were an ordinary breakfast place with extra ordinary prices. A place called Jimmies Egg opened at almost the same time so we mostly went to them until they closed and now we go to Bön Appetit or Seabrook Classic or Kellys or Skippers or Denny’s or Taco Cabana and Mamacita’s for Mexican breakfast on most Sundays. Today was our first day back here since opening day. We went because we’d read they had Eggs Benedict. We make it a practice of trying every place in the Clear Lake area that does them. As I have explained in other breakfast reviews the hollandaise sauce is what makes good Eggs Benedict. Their hollandaise was not exceptional but was good. There used to be four places in the area that made good Eggs Benedict, now there are only two. Here and Seabrook Classic. The server didn’t ask how we wanted our eggs cooked and they came out runny. I HATE runny whites, but it was Easter and they were jammed so it took longer than I would normally expect to get our order and I wasn’t willing to do that wait again. Thus, we didn’t send them back. We also had a side order of bacon. As I thought the first time, it’s an ordinary breakfast place and it’s hard to screw up eggs, though they managed. It was thronged. It’s been added to my life’s mysteries why so many people eat here(unless they come to get Eggs Benedict). I didn’t check the menu for prices this time and they don’t show prices on their website, but if it was like the first time the prices were out of line for an ordinary breakfast place, which is what it is. Oh yes, I’m checking the box that says they have TV and they do but neither was turned on when we were there. We like it better that way. ___ We’ve Eaten Out Every Meal for more than 25 years

This place had been on my mind for a while but the 3 star reviews made me a little hesitant to try it. The host was a young teenager who didn’t welcome or acknowledge us(which I think he should because he is the face the restaurant) he wrote our name and we waited about 10 minutes. We were seated and immediately greeted by our friendly server, she took our drinks and a few minutes later she took our order. I had the Mediterranean frittata with a muffin and fruit and my mother had the Athens plate(I can’t remember the exact name.) Wait was okay, service was excellent, and food was delicious!

This place was great! My husband and I went here one morning and were very pleased. Our server dealt with us and played along with our sarcastic banter. Extra points for her! Food was good, and not overpriced. We shared a meal and ended up walking out stuffed. Check this place out!

I checked in to the Hilton Garden Inn across the street. They usually have good food at HGI but not this one. Thank goodness The egg and I was close by… Great breakfast. The benedicts the best I ever had! I can’t wait to try their lunch menu.

I love this place! I’ve tried many of the menu options and they’re all delicious, I’ve now stuck to my favorite, the make your own omelette option because I can keep it as healthy as I want. I recommend the egg benidic breakfast and the raspberry granola pancake. Oh and both cashiers and waiters are all great too !

The waitress was fantastic. The food, not so much. I ordered the corned beef hash because there is a place at home in Hayward that makes the best corned beef hash I’ve ever tasted. I suppose I had high expectations, but the meal delivered to the table was just not good. The food gets a two. The waitress and the nice atmosphere brings it up to a three. There have to be better restaurants for breakfast.

First timer. Arrived around 10, and that’s high time for brunch so we were given a 20min wait for a table of 2. We were seated under that 20min wait. Our server was a sweet lady that promptly greeted us, got our drink orders, and delivered them. I got the veggie benedict sans hollandaise and my sister, the santa fe rancheros. She gave both sauces(green chile and salsa) ots. My veggie benedict was satisfying. Not stingy on the amount of veggies(artichokes, asparagus, etc) and the eggs were poached well. Just really small english muffins, though. My sister liked her rancheros. Good size, and filling. I also had the pumpkin spice coffee and they leave you a whole pitcher for it. Overall a good experience. Just gets very crowded.

One of my favorite breakfast spots! Healthy, unique options like the Mediterranean Frittata or Greek omelette! The service is good. The only negative is limited parking. Get there early!

The one star is for my experience at this location — not applicable to other Egg and I locations since they have always been great. Mirtha was who waited our table and her attitude went against the great customer service I have experienced at other locations. I ordered the green chili chicken hash but asked for it without chicken and pork. She preceded to tell me that the sauce has pork in it and I said I wasn’t sure what they did but I have ordered this a couple times and they always bring it without any pork or chicken. We argued. Yes argued. about this for several minutes with me repeating I don’t know how they do it but it doesn’t come with pork. It came out and looked different from what I usually get because it was covered in a sauce which is not the usual case. I asked the other waitress who brought the food if I could ask for another plate without sauce. Mirtha came by our table 30 seconds later and says, «I told you! I told you it has pork!!»… At this point I am just flabbergasted that she came over purely to argue that she was right! seriously? How many times did I state that I didn’t know what they did but it never had pork or chicken! I have never had it with pork or chicken so don’t know what its supposed to look like! I merely said, «ok but I had asked for it without chicken and pork…» Because in my mind wouldn’t it occur to her to put the sauce on the side in case? Or bring it sauceless as it has come the other times I have ordered this dish? And let me be clear I have ordered this so many times at other locations and its a non-issue! She leaves and I get a replacement dish… And there’s a hair in my egg… At this point I ask to speak with a manager and the manager isn’t in but Mirtha is the assistant manager! Seriously!!! Despite the hair in my egg, the fact that we have endured terrible customer service which included being told that we were wrong Mirtha still gives our check to pay and at no time apologizes! I asked for the manager’s name and her number and leave much hungrier and definitely angrier than I came in! I called the manager just now and she was very nice and apologized. Mirtha had apparently already told her about me but the manager was still nice. Doubt Mirtha has a clue about how inappropriate she was but the manager said she would discuss it with her. Regardless I don’t think I will ever willingly visit this location again.

Food is great. But when you pay $ 35 for two omelettes and a kiddie meal you expect that. What you dont expect… is cold coffee… every time it’s served. This restaurant actually prides itself on serving lukewarm java. Says it tastes better. Huh? If you ask them to please heat it… they will not. The best you can get is a warm mug. Why not just serve it at the correct temperature? The wait staff will tell you they get complaints all the time… but the manager will always tell you…“you are the only one who ever mentions it”. I dont need to be scorched… but I shouldnt be able to stir it with my finger either.

Always on the lookout for new breakfast places so tried this one today after church. Arrived around 11am and waited 15 – 20 minutes for a table. Got an iced coffee, it was pretty tasty. For breakfast I got the Raspberry Granola Pancake. One huge whole wheat pancake with raspberries and granola baked in. Came with a raspberry yogurt that I actually ate with the pancake. Two decent sized sausage patties and eggs. I substituted roasted potatoes because eggs are, well, gross. Everything was fantastic. I would have liked a bit more granola in the pancake. Looks like they are a chain and have other Houston locations. I will for sure be back to one of them.

I had the cinnamon roll french toast special today. It was so good and tasty! The batter was moist and I highly recommend it. The eggs were good and soft with fresh bacon. I will be back again for the special real soon! Our server was very friendly as well.

The foods worth the hype! My wife had the strawberry field waffle plate and loved it. I had the spinach, mushroom, bacon omlet and it was perfect. Don’t get their iced mocha — it’s just folgers on ice. The service could be better. Didn’t even get her name and could hardly hear her the entire time she took our orders.

When I came here, I ordered the two egg breakfast. I got my eggs poached and got wheat toast and ranch potatoes on the side. I really enjoyed the ranch potatoes. I would’ve preferred them to be a bit crispier, but the flavor was perfect. Other than that, I feel like my meal was pretty basic which is why I’m only rating it three stars. Granted, what I ordered wasn’t necessarily complicated or unique in the first place, however, I’ve been to other breakfast places who have smaller menus but still manage to impress me more than this establishment did.

Pretty decent place for breakfast. I always get the green chile chicken hash and it never disappoints. They bring a carafe to your table depending on what you order. I really enjoy that as I tend to drink water more than most people. This really helps me not having to wait around for a refill. The menu is very diverse with a little bit of something for everyone. Definitely a place you can take the family for breakfast. Food is always fresh and they are very accomodating to substitutions or dietary restrictions. Also the last time I went I found out they have wifi. All you have to do is ask your waiter for the password. Pretty cool. Possible business meeting spot? Me thinks so! :)

Probably the best breakfast I have ever had in the area. I had the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict and it was simply awesome. Take it from a world traveler and someone who eats out a lot… this place is very good! The wait staff was nice and friendly and didn’t bother you with stupid questions while you are eating. Refills were done automatically and promptly Oh yeah and they were busy! Highly Recommend!

I took my toddler with me to this location. She wasn’t particularly happy with her food and ate very little. My food was good, as far as taste goes. I liked the decorum and amount of light that washed in through the large windows. The juice we had tasted fresh. My food was visually appealing while my daughter’s pancake was cute, decorated to look like Mickey Mouse. I wasn’t particularly thrilled with the service. I was reading the special, then hurried along before I could finish. After we got our food, I never saw my waitress again. This meant I could not communicate with her that I desired extra napkins, refills, and even my check. I waited at the, presumably, Hostess or Manager table where I am supposed to pay my bill. We all waited together until I was delivered my bill. In short, the food, itself, was pretty good. It’s the service that leaves you with a slightly bad taste.

Yummy. That is my first thought when I hear someone mention The Egg & I. It is always busy when we go, which is a good sign of their popularity. Still, we’ve never had to wait too long(maybe 15 minutes). The wait staff is always pleasant and the food comes out hot & fresh. My favorite thing to order is their Parisian Benedict. It makes my mouth water just thinking about it! It is a croissant, shaved ham, cheese and eggs with delectable hollandaise sauce. Their hollandaise is wonderful and lemony. The Benedict comes with their ranch potatoes. Super flavorful and always cooked just right: a bit crunchy on the outside, light and fluffy inside. They have decent coffee and several juice options. Although, I find the juice prices to be a bit high. Go early or bring someone to talk to whole you wait. It is definitely worth it!

Is it just me or does everyone at The Egg & I seem down on their luck? And not just at this location. The first Egg and I I ever went to was in Colorado and it was a charming experience. I was excited when they came to Houston, but I feel like the atmosphere is one rung above Denny’s. But the prices are affordable and I really love the food. My favorites are the Raisin French Toast and the Veggie Benedict. Great place for brunch or lunch.

Good food, sweet staff, good prices! I’m visiting from California and am so glad my family recommended this place! The menu has such good items, I couldn’t figure out what to order! That being said, I’d love to go back and order other items just to try out what else they have to offer!
