The name of this restaurant accurately describes the food here. asian american bbq. bbq with asian(«half chinese half thai half american) twist. I had the bbq pork tips and it was one of the most fulfilling bbq meals ive ever had. I typically dont write too many reviews but all i have to say is try this place out. Its deceptively good!

Delicious! Stopped here on our way back from Portland and I have to say we were a bit hesitant based on appearance, but don’t judge a book by its cover. Everything we ordered was delicious, and this is coming from people coming back from a foodie adventure in Portland! We ordered the phở, amazing! Cilantro, green onions, noodles, and a charred steak that was tender inside. Delicious! Larp which is chopped brisket w green onions and garlic and something crunchy… A bit of a spice kick. Yummy! Tri-tip sandwich… Delicious! And the ribs, sweet, outside was crunchy and inside was tender. The owners were nice and funny!

Ordered the beef brisket with rice. The brisket was 70% fat. The service was slow. The other members of our group liked their food. If I went back I would not order the brisket again.

I ordered the phở. It’s not at all like a traditional phở from a Vietnamese restaurant. It’s Tom’s personal take on the Asian noodle broth. It has strong elements of Thai tom yum soup but he has put a major twist into it. The broth is rich, flavorful and just plain delicious. It is very simple(like all his dishes, as I noticed) and comes just with noodles, green onions and some chopped white onion. My girlfriend ordered the tri-tip wrap. It too was delicious. It came wrapped in a tortilla. A decent size, but not giant like a Chipotle burrito. All in all this place is a diamond in the rough and if you like awesome food and you’re driving through Weed you need to stop here.

YUM. Funky, but YUM. Completely unprepossessing exterior and interior. But if smoke is pouring from the grills out front, go get their barbecue. Thai videos blaring on the screen. Formica, paper towels, uneven floor, serve-yourself cooler. And damn fine meat. Just the right kind of smokey, tender, juicy, charred a bit at the edges, perfect in the center tri-tip and pork ribs. Really excellent and served with an Asian sweet chili sauce. You get white rice, with more sauce if you want it. No veggies. Meat. Rice. A pop from the cooler if you want. Simple. Really, really good.

Best Asian BBQ in the area, maybe the only? and we were eating all the good spots in Washington and Oregon before coming down here haha. My friends and I were driving back down from Oregon when we started to get hungry and looked on good old Unilocal, found this place to be the most appealing and with good reviews. The place is a small but with a pretty big parking lot and its on the right side of the road if you are heading south. We went in Tom(the owner) was already manning the grill and I believe his wife was inside prepping its really small and dinky on the inside. Feels like a old home they changed into a restaurant its not the cleanest but hey sometimes the best food are found in hole in the walls right? Tom greeted us and said«Hey I got Ribs right now real good if you want» So we ordered 2 they come with 6 pieces and 2 bowls of rice for about 20 bucks. After we started eating that sauce is bomb! We were starving so that wasn’t enough we Ordered another Ribs, some Tri Tip and I also go a Tri Tip Sandwhich. We went all out haha They also had some Thai Tea, I got a small but my 2 friends go Larges(I should’ve gotten a large). The large was HUGE it came out in a beer mug the ones you find at the dollar tree haha. The Tri-Tip sandwhich I had was delicious! It was very simple too all it was from grilled french bread his tri tip lathered in that awesome sauce, chopped onions and some mozzarella cheese. We ended up cleaning all the plates haha. Tom and his wife were cool and said damn you guys were hungry huh? haha My friends we asking him to open one near us in Monterey and we will help him run it because it so simple but delicious. We decided if we ever come back up north in the area this was our go to spot every time haha and plus how can you hate when you have Mt. Shasta literally across the street its a wonderful view. Hey Tom if you’re reading this I told you I would right a review for you and keep it up! I don’t know if you’ll even remember us we were 3 Asians and a Black guy haha.

We arrived and found it empty, dirty, dingy, unfriendly and unappealing. We walked out and went across the street to a lovely meal at the Hi Low Café.

Does not look awesome at the 1st look, but… it is actually really good ! Has a little look«Asian», it is from Laos, you know, next to Thailand … This is definitively awesome BBQ, a good stop in you are driving through highway 5, we did the all meal in 55 minutes, I recommend you ask for«family style» if you are more than 2, and try few of the dishes I will come back again … Good food for Grand Turismo racers !

GOHERE! Lao(larb) Soklek on the special board… UNBELIEVABLE. Tom will customize the spice level. Kids and I had the pork ribs, each rib was striped CLEAN. They wanted to order more but we had to get back on the road. They’re trying to talk us into stopping again on the way home. Another great Unilocal find. Don’t be afraid of the inside, I can’t take away a star because the food was so good. Tom is the bbq master! His meat is worth the stop!!!

We were looking for a good place to eat on our way to Sacramento from Oregon and this place was reviewed well on Unilocal so we decided to try it out. This place did not disappoint. When we walked in it looked a little sketchy but we were promptly greeted by the man and wife who own and work the business. They were very nice and told us what would be good to order. They cook all the meat outside on these big smoker grills and some of the meat takes a while so ask them what they have coming out if you don’t want to wait. We had the pork ribs with rice meal for two and the ribs were very juicy and flavorful, It was a good portion size too. We couldn’t finish all of them between the two of us so we took the last few togo for another time. Great food, great service!

I am sooo grateful that we ran into this place on our way back to Sacramento. The restaurant itself markets as Asian American BBQ which makes you question how that could be, but they deliver, in an amazing way. The #9 pork tips was easily some of the best BBQ I’ve had the pleasure of eating. The combination of Asian spices and American BBQ is a fusion that leaves my mouth watering just thinking about it. I’m just sad this place is all the way out here in Weed. If this restaurant was a girl, it would be the hottest girl in Weed. You need to pack your stuff and move to a SF or NY.

Stopped by this place while coming back from an Oregon road trip. There is a fairly small indoor seating that was pretty filled when we arrived around 7pm, but space was made. A couple runs the place and they’re quite friendly. Service is a bit slow since it is just two of them taking care of everything, so if you don’t mind that, then you’ll be okay. I got the beef tri-tip sandwich. It was a *huge* serving for $ 8.50! It wasn’t bad per se but the flavor of the meat was overpowered by the sauce used, so I couldn’t enjoy it as much as I could. It was filling though. Food served had a very homey feel to it since they’re served on the classic Asian plates. So, this place is worth stopping by if you’re passing through Weed, CA. But I’d suggest either asking for sauce on the side or asking for less sauce if you want to enjoy the actual meat.

I was going to eat outside but it felt so friendly inside that I stayed indoors to eat. I got to talking to the owners and they’re awesome. It felt as if they were entertaining me at their home. The tri-tip was mouth-watering good! So is their secret sauce. Look forward to going back to try the larp(he said the chicken larp is the most popular one) and the whole chicken. This is my kind of place!

Having spent three years of my life mastering in Asian American Studies, I was pretty sure when I stopped by the city of Weed, California that I wasn’t going to find much of anything there to satiate my cravings for this particular knowledge/cuisine base(purely a non-empirical assumption I made about this random town near the California-Oregon border right off I-5 and a gorgeous view of Mount Shasta, now that I think about it). I am now eating my words… because I discovered and ate some DE-licious Asian American BBQ there. Was hooked by the sign and the smokey barbecue pit in the parking lot. Waltzed in and the owners(or the only two people running the joint) were immediately at our service. My partner and I got a plate of the beef ribs and the papaya salad. The combination of savory, spicy, and tangy flavors, all brought together with steaming bowls of white rice(my personal fave way to eat BBQ growing up!) hit the spot. Southeast Asian television playing all the while in the background. 100x better than where we ALMOST stopped for lunch instead… Subway. BORING. Gimme Asian American BBQ over other pitstop options anytime. *Bonuses: 10% off with your Unilocal check-in, and the owner promised to invite us to his party in the summer for liking him on FB :)*

Was eager to try this place when staying in weed. It was empty the time we went, I somehow didn’t like how the owner tried selling us certain items like the Thai beef salad which we got and I felt was overpriced. It was cool watching the grilling in action though, they have the old school grills right outside the restaurant. The menu was pretty interesting, with different kinds of cuisines from phở to burrito. The barbecues were okay I guess, the pork and beef were not so tender. Though BBQ is their thing here.
