Laytons liquors is the best little place to stop. Whether your on hwy 99 or on i5. They have great deals and friendly service.

This is a well organized dusty shop, selling a variety of commonplace booze and cast off oddities like green jello colored tequila shots in plastic with foil lids. I found a respectable offering of California wines and local beers from base camp brewing company.
Most of the clientele were locals, and there was the friendly banter of people who know and like each other and are pleasantly accustomed to tourists like me. The place had a nice vibe, and suited all my immediate needs.
