A bit pricey for what I’m getting, but at the same time it is kinda worth it. I ordered a Shasta bagel melt, mocha, americana, and a specialty cookie. Came out to about 20 dollars with a rounded tip(dollar tip). What is the saving grace they possess to make it worth it you might wonder. The customer service. The staff are extremely friendly and very attentive. And the food and coffee taste great. Not only that, but the café ambience is very nice. Nice furniture and tables, and very clean. And above all, decent free Wi-Fi. Being one of the very few places to get a donut, this place is a little diamond in the rough. I didn’t check but I’m pretty sure the donuts are appropriately priced, being that they are made fresh daily. Bravo bravo.

The food and environment are great; the employees suck. I have come in here a few times but won’t return until the manager/owner gets rid of some of the self absorbed and rude young women who work here. Courtesy and manners are part of the job of working in the food service industry. Management needs to understand this and take responsibility for holding the employees accountable.

Nicely lighted, good food, great musicians that worked the crowd well. Jenny, Bruce, and Doug were great, worth coming out even in the cold weather, if you like Oldies, but Goodies, Popular, Country and Light Rock. Everybody had a fun time. From 7 — 9:30. I know they have music on Sat. too, but haven’t been to that. Go be a part of a fun scene for locals and visitors. I liked the service, good, but non-obtrusive.

Attracted by the town’s name, some friends and I stopped in after two nights in the woods. This café is spacious and comfortable, complete with post cards and chess sets. The coffee is quite nice. There is a full menu that we did not dive into which includes sandwiches, soups, wraps, and breakfast food. Of course, there are pastries galore. My larger-sized friend ate to his delight a fruit-and-nut bar recommended by the barista. It was actually more like pecan pie with added fruit and nuts, enough protein to get an average person through a day or two. It made up for our earlier experience in another town, where we ate over-priced nachos, as this $ 2.75 fruit-and-nut bar likely exceeded what we were charged in ingredients alone. In summary, this is a great place to come with family or friends, and a great place to meet local college students(from the College of Siskiyou) if you are alone.

We are staying across the street at the Hi-Lo Motel for a few days and it is nice to have Ellie’s close by for another good meal, snack, and drink option. I’ve had something from Ellie’s every day since we’ve been in town: coffee, latte, croissant breakfast sandwich, peanut butter cookie, and today I got a bonus iced chai when they had a little extra on hand after making a drink for another customer. Everything has been delicious. Other things on the menu include different kinds of sweet croissants, sweet and savory scones, deli sandwiches, and soup. When I first saw the menu I thought it seemed a little pricey, but I think the prices are comparable to other coffee shops, plus I overheard one of the workers talking about the rising cost of eggs, so I suspect the prices aren’t bad, all things considered. Ellie’s is a good place to grab something to go and it’s a nice place to sit and watch people or do a bit of work.

Fell in love with this place. Service was very attentive and you can tell that food was prepared with lots of attention. We were in no hurry so we spent a chunk of our morning time here. I got the Veggie Melt on Jalapeño burger and it was delicious. Even my Mexican Mocha was good. Forgot to mention how cute and comfortable this place is. Their ambiance is very welcoming.

The women behind the counter are very rude and unpleasant. Yesterday was the last time I give this roadside«espresso and café» gas station quality wreck of a restaurant my business. So much for being a cute small town café — id rather go to the drive thru coffee down the street!

We stopped here for lunch on our way through Weed on a road trip. I am very relieved that we survived the fast food gauntlet and waited until we spotted Ellie’s café. The soup, salad, and sandwich options here were much more fresh and appealing. I ordered the Very Veggie sandwich and it was tasty with soft and fresh wheat bread. Next time I’d ask for peppers or onions to add more flavor. My friend ordered the roast beef sandwich with a side salad and was pleased with both. Both came with somewhat stale tortilla chips which we didn’t eat and didn’t seem to go with the meal… maybe potato chips would. The ambiance is nice and there are plenty of places to sit. There was a bit of a wait for the food but it was nice to be out of the car for a while.

Stopped here on my way to Portland. Spent the night in a motel nearby. Got a «Whole» Roast Beef Sandwich. I’ve never had a sandwich this good. The tomato was crisp. The lettuce was nice and lean(I’m not quoting Billy Crystal in The Princess Bride, I swear). It was also the size of a small child’s head. I had a breakfast sandwich the next day which was also fantastic and then got a half Roast Beef to go for the road. Definitely going to stop here on my way to and from The Pacific Northwest in the future! Try their strawberry banana smoothies! They’re p. great! :D

26 minutes to get one mocha. Wtf. Quality of coffee was equivalent to one of those road side stands that over sweetens everything. I never thought I’d say, «We should have gone to Starbucks.»

I agree with others that this beats fast food/mini mart food by a lot. Great coffee(latte was excellent), but toasted bagels took forever, and one of the three wasn’t toasted. Unclear why we waited 20 minutes for a sliced bagel with cream cheese when there was no crowd. What should’ve been maybe a 15-minute stop was a 40 minute stop(for coffee and bagels). I liked it; it was good; but it is not for those without a lot of time to kill. If you are in a rush, get regular coffee + pastries from the case.

Only stop here for coffee. We made the mistake of ordering lunch. For what you get and the price of it, it is not worth it. I ordered a half sandwich/salad. I asked for raspberry vinaigrette dressing and they gave me what looked like olive oil. It was not salad dressing and it was slimy and gross. My fiancé did not like the soup at all. I also have an issue with businesses want tips for merely ringing up your order. No way! No service, no tip.

We were in Ellie’s for a great avocado sandwich and delicious cream of broccoli soup, when in walks the Richy Ramone band… RICHYRAMONE, the original drummer with the legendary Ramones ! They were on their way to a gig in Portland… Weed ROCKS !

Stop by if you have a craving for a vanilla latte or just need to stay awake. We stopped here heading home from Oregon and that latte was amazing. I don’t know if they put a slight pump of raspberry or if they just have a unique flavoring, but it was good!

Since my past review I have been to Ellie’s several times for coffee and breakfast pastries and, while this is the best Weed has to offer, it hasn’t been very good. The coffee is fine, but the couple of turnovers I’ve tried were full of the same sort of industrial type, nonfruit fruit filling that came in 10 gallon buckets when I worked I’m the Safeway bakery. The icing on the chocolate croissants is sugar overkill. I haven’t tried the breakfast sandwich options… perhaps that is a better bet but they are pricey.

I love chocolate croissants. I have had them all over California. The best are here in weed. I have one every morning when I am here visiting family. This is one of the best little coffee shops in northern California.

We love stopping at Ellie’s on our way to Eugene, Oregon. The coffee is fresh and the breakfast cookie is moist and baked with apricots! And it’s big enough to share. We also ordered the BLT wrap. It was delicious too. The chips that came with it were a bit stale though. Our server Lauren was not happy either with us or her job. She never smiled and when we asked her questions about the sandwiches, she just pointed to the menu. Better customer service would be a good New Years resolution

Since moving to weed I can say I have only been to Ellie’s a handful of times but all of that might change after the drink I just had. It was Amazing! I asked for a blended caramel mocha with chocolate syrup and extra caramel(yes sugar and more sugar) and it was my favorite blended drink by far. Thank you to Jennifer(I think that was her name) and Tommy who are both super friendly and accommodating. I’ll be back soon!
