If you’re in a pinch and need dinner or snacks and don’t feel like driving to Colfax or Auburn, Weimar Country Store is your place to go. They have your absolute basics in microwavable food, frozen food, drinks, and snacks. Plus, they have bathrooms if you’re traveling to and from the Sierras.

One of the dozens of spots just off I-80 on the road to/from Tahoe. This one was the first to show up after a bathroom break was requested. I was thankful gas prices were not outrageous and filled up the car. Their supplies were a little thin and dated; This barely qualifies as a convenience store(let alone the old-timey, general store I was expecting). Bathroom was clean. Unfortunately, the women’s room was out of order, and so we all had to use the men’s. This meant I had to tactfully explain the condom machine on the wall to my 7 and 9 year old daughters. So, thanks for that.

Holiday traffic was annoying enough to induce Extra-Adventuring and exploring lots of otherwise anonymous Rt. 80 Eastbound exits. We were duly rewarded for such outrageous behavior: once inside this little gem of a convenience store, we discovered great Hawaiian shirts, super friendly employees and extra clean bathrooms. Yeah, sure, the supplies department is a little bit asleep at the wheel– there are a few dusty bottles of shampoo and some odd lot packaged goods, but it’s kind of refreshing to be in a place that is a bit more relaxed about that sort of thing.
