Chuck and I tucked into two wonderful Oregon Raspberry Margaritas and ordered some of their delicious food. They were a bit busy and our order had gotten lost, so we ate a big portion(actually, two portions) of their wonderful home-made chips & salsa. As time went on, I had the craving for a cigarette. I decided to head to the car and sate my craving. On the way out, I shouted to our server(the manager, I believe) that, «I’m just heading out for a smoke, sweetie», «No problem, thanks,» she replied. «Thank you, honey,» I said. Then, out of nowhere, the Northwestern-most table, two very obviously privileged ‘ladies’ in their twenties said, «What a fuckin’ faerie!» and proceeded to LAUGH their heads off at me. I had my three puffs whilst considering my options. I decided that, because it was such a beautiful day and we were having such a wonderful time, I would just ask for our order to-go, as I was about to give those bitches both barrels. When I asked for it to be boxed, the server(again, management, I think,) asked why. When I told her what had happened, she began to full on cry. She said she has a son and step-son who are both trans-gendered. She said that sort of intolerance doesn’t fly in her restaurant. She pleaded that we return, at which we responded ‘OFCOURSE!’ They have wonderful food and service. She told us that she’d box up our meal and let us on our way. I said that there was no way I wasn’t paying for our lunch. She said we had no choice. And that she’d ‘take care’ of the classless ladies at that table. When she returned, she had added a huge portion of chips and salsa to take home and demanded we give her a big hug. I once again insisted on paying for the meal, but she refused. I gave her a hidden $ 20 tip and we were on our way. On the way out I threw some SERIOUS #SHADEONYOU at the nasty ‘ladies’. My point? In this month of Pride, or really any other time, don’t put up with that shit. Those C U Next Tuesdays had NO business in MY business. In standing up for me and my husband, I ended up standing up for the Manager and her two Trans sons. If you get the chance, I URGE you to patronize El Burro Loco here in Welches, OR. They have great service, great food, and they’re an ally to our community. Well done, Crazy Donkey. You’re phenomenal.

We had a group of 13 last weekend that stopped by for lunch after a fun weekend camping. They seated us right away! The staff was very friendly and attentive. I was told by someone in our party not to get anything with Chicken, their chicken isn’t that great. They suggested the Smoked Pork Enchilada’s — which were AMAZING!!! The only part of our meal that I did not care for were the chips l, they were stale. We will definitely be back for those enchiladas!

We eat here every time we go to the Mountain. Just order whatever the special is that day and you will be happy. Great food, good prices, awesome drinks — friendly service. Noting bad to say about this place. You must try it!

Very average Mexican food. Not the best, not the worst. My sister got chicken tacos and was really confused why her chicken was slightly crunchy. My burrito was ok. Terrible smell of sulfur near the end of the meal. Not sure if it was a customer or the facility. I hear the margaritas are awesome… Bummed I didn’t get to try one.

We were told about this place and that the owners were from Michigan. The food blew us away. Huge portions and the meat was cooked perfect. The reviews that say it’s salty are worded wrong. The correct way is tasty and vibrant. Great service and not that expensive. Oh and great margaritas

End of an era? I’ve been going to El Burro Loco since 2005, drawn back by the super friendly, laid back service, and the really tasty food. I often order the chicken fajita salad(w/o shell), because I love the tangy chipotle ranch-style dressing. Today, everything was different. The bartender/wait person, Jody, seemed to want to pick a fight with me as soon as I walked in the door.(I think she was annoyed that I was waiting in a mostly empty room mid-afternoon, at the«Wait to be Seated» sign.) And my chicken fajita salad came dressed in what tasted pretty much like thinned mayo. When I mentioned this, Jody almost bit my head off. I did get a side of the«dressing» and all I can say is that it is not the same. I hope that this was just an off day at my favorite restaurant on the mountain. Usually, this would be an easy 5-star rating.

I think it is a very solid Mexican restaurant. It is not be best but better than many others in oregon. I would recommend pork dishes. Their wild boar is great.

The best fresh Mexican food we’ve had in a very long time. We had lunch and dinner there with no regrets. My kids are picky eaters and they ate almost everything on their plate. The pork is amazing.

No Joke! This might be the BEST Mexican food I’ve had in Oregon to date. My wife ordered the carnitas and I ordered carne asada. Both were excellent and seasoned to perfection, not too much, not too little. The chips and salsa tasted awesome. We’re from Cali so we know good from bad Mexican food. This place would easily be a 4 – 5 star even in Cali. If you like carne asada, do yourself a favor and order it. Very friendly staff made the whole experience that much better.

Five stars but deserves six. These folks take pride in what they do. Swing by after an awesome day on Mt Hood and make it a perfect day.

OMG! This place is terrible. After a long day of snowboarding a margarita sounded pretty damn good. My blood orange margarita was sickly sweet, mixed with a mixer and tasted terrible. Chips were stale and although I was reluctant to order anything substantial(I was starving but scared to eat here) I had a single pork tamale, which was awful as well. Skip it!

Great food. The chile verde was delicious, muddled Cara-cara orange margarita was very good(all fresh ingredients) l, guacamole and salsa were perfect. The Alamo bowl on the app menu is highly recommended. How there can be great Mexican food on the Mountain is beyond me. The service was great, but a little slow, that is what happens with a small business though. We were okay with it since we are on a vacation and weren’t starving when we showed up. I still would recommend it though. Also, there was so much food I’ll even have enough for a 2nd meal, which I will eat because it seems like it will keep well.

I have been here several times over the years and the food is always good, some of the best Mexican food in Oregon and definitely the best on Mt. Hood. A great place to stop on the way home from skiing, camping, or whatever. Try the Wild boar tacos or carne asada.

Meh! Ordered cheese quesadilla — wasn’t fond of the sauce! Ordered guacamole — wasn’t the best in my opinion or my husbands! The refried beans were pretty good — kind of smoky flavored and the rice was good. Chips and salsa — nothing to brag about! I think the chips were a bit stale! Very very busy on a Wednesday night! Running short staffed which slowed everything down but they got our food out in a very timely matter all considering and courteously.

THEFLIES! Couldn’t keep them off our food. They were everywhere. I haven’t ever seen so many flies during a dinner. Sub par food. Stale chips, ok salsa, quesadilla was alright.

The food is awesome and the people are great. Always friendly. However, when eating inside there are always tons of flies. Huge turnoff. Take care of the fly problem and this would be five stars.

Absolutely loved our vegan dinner. It was very fresh and delicious. We stopped on our drive from Mt Hood to Portland as a last minute thought. The guacamole with the chips was fresh and awesome. We ordered veggies flutas and tamales.

First time visit, although we’re fairly local. Hubby had the three item combo(chili relleno, tamale, enchilada) for $ 11.50. I had the pork enchiladas on the servers recommendation for $ 10.50. Chips were unimpressive, salsa was a little bland until we added their«fire water.» We were delivered a full pitcher of water right from the get go, which was nice, but hubby never got a refill on his soda, and we had to ask for silverware. Service was mediocre. I can get cheaper Mexican without going up the mountain and better service, so that’s an issue for us. My pork enchiladas were very meaty, so that’s a plus. Chili relleno is a tad spicy, so keep that in mind(even with the mild topping sauce). We ate outside; nice seating, but it’s all benches, no backs; middle aged folks like us need to know that. :)

This is a review by a vegetarian 3.5 stars All the omnivores hikers I accompany love this place. Service is pretty quick if they’re not super-slammed(which can happen on weekend afternoons). Guacamole is good. Chips and salsa are brought when you sit; they have good salt and acid to them. Portions are generally large. Bathroom is outside the back and to the right. I don’t love it but I don’t protest when others suggest it since I haven’t found anything clearly superior in the area.
