Delicious wild salmon eaten outside on the patio with friends. Can’t be beat. And the strawberry/rhubarb crisp with ice cream disappeared before I knew it. Highly recommend this place.

We were at a local event and wanted to eat someplace close. I found Rendezvous on Unilocal and was like«Lets try it.» The minute we walked in the door the service was phenomenal! It was one of those places you step into and go OHYEAH, this is a great place. We decided to sit at the bar to eat. Lora was awesome, took great care of us and just enhanced the whole evening. They were very accommodating on the dishes too since my hubby is a vegetarian. I had the new york and it was cooked to perfection. We never eat dessert but had to sample what they had. I had an awesome bread pudding. This is definitely a must go back and for special occasions as well!

We’ve had some pretty good meals here over the years. That said, our last experience was a little under whelming. Two of us had razor clams. They were good and cooked just right, but maybe a bit under seasoned. However, they only came with a couple spoonfuls of rice and a small amount of sliced grilled sweet peppers. For $ 25 the sides should be a little more hardy. I left hungry. Maybe a salad or an extra starch would be nice. My wife’s butternut squash dinner, while good, was more of an appetizer ~$ 18 than an entrée. She left hungry also and she eats like a bird. If you’re hungry, might not be the place to go.

Adorable, delicious restaurant! Stopped here for lunch on a beautiful sunny Friday so we sat out on the patio. Food was delicious! Holy salmon! Service was quick and our waiter was excellent. Very friendly and relaxed environment. Would definitely recommend eating here!

My experience here was great. The food was cooked perfectly and the service was also efficient and very respectful. The prices seemed reasonable for this particular area. I feel like some people might be able to find better prices on some of the menu items but not for this area. People might need to travel to Portland or elsewhere to find any better prices. This is a good place to visit when going from Portland to any of the ski resorts on Mt. Hood.

Superb service and food. Loved the house merlot and the appetizers were excellent. We had calamari, grilled artichoke and Dungeness crab gnocchi. Wicked good! Our salads were nice and fresh. Great food. Great staff.

We stayed overnight at the resort at the mountain in welches and was looking for a good dinner. This fit the bill. We had the duck over Kim chee fried rice. Very good combination. Thought the portion could be little larger. It was $ 22. Also duck could have used little more seasoning but great dish nonetheless. Also had the wine-coffee braised lamb shank over Yukon gold mashed potatoes. Also a good combination. This too could have been seasoned a little more — just a little more salt. Good portion for $ 30. Service was friendly but waitress got our appetizer wrong and forgot to get my beer. No biggie but she could have written it down. In fact I didn’t notice any of wait help writing orders down. This is definitely worth a try if you are on way to-from mountain but a little on pricey side.

We have been going to The Rendezvous for 11 years. We have a wonderful second chef, as first one retired. She picked well. The duck is amazing. We order the escargot every time, amazing and dip our bread in juices. Highly recommend when travelling on Route 26. You won’t be disappointed

Had one of the best salmon dinners ever there! Husband had mushroom raviolis and thought they were very good! As always delicious food great service and delicious desserts! I’m a little upset because I went back the other night to have my poached apple cider salmon and they had taken it off the menu and I order it every other week when I go there. I’m hoping they bring it back because it’s the best! I wish they would do dishes with Halibut and shrimp! Too much beef and pork! Not everyone is a beef and pork eater!

Our family had an excellent meal here over the MLK Holiday weekend. The atmosphere was very nice and a good place for families. I had the salmon chowder, which was just ok, but topped that off with a burger that was really, really good. To indulge my sweet tooth, I had the key lime pie — it was solid as well. The rest of the fam enjoyed their dishes as well — especially the king salmon. We’ll be back next year!

If you’re driving through Welches and hell-bent on getting back to Portland without stopping — wait, you may be missing something worth the stop over. The Rendezvous Grill is a gem of a place in a nondescript town(no offense intended to the hamlet of Welches). We’ve been a few times of the years and every time we visit — the place surpasses my expectations. Yes, the décor is underwhelming and the general tenor of the place is no where near a high-end foodie sort of joint, but precisely because of these things — it rocks! The food, from the understated starters(think German mountain dishes with a bit of Pacific Northwest flare) to the great proteins(they make a mean pan seared steak) is all delicious. And, they have a very nice cellar of local(Washington and Oregon) wines. The chef is doing something right and I bet this is no easy feat in a place like Welches where he is constantly competing for people’s attention as they drive along on Highway 26. Heck, the litmus for the success of The Rendezvous Grill is their packed dining room; and they were packed on the night we last dined. It is well worth a visit for sure.

Visited dinner December 296pm and lunch December 302pm Both visits the dining area was packed, however the service was friendly and prompt! Food was amazing both times as well as desert after dinner. For dinner both my wife and I had the New York Steak, cooked to perfection, and marvelous flavors! Our daughter had the kids pasta with Alfredo sauce, which disappeared before we could finish our dinners. Dinner drinks were house specialties and we’re fantastic For lunch my wife had home made black bean burger, I had grass fed local burger with Tillamook cheddar; both were absolutely great! And our daughter had the pasta again(this is partly why we returned, our daughters choice). Over, all both visits were fun and both meals were very memorable!

I’ve been driving past the Rendezvous Grill for years without ever stopping. It took a visit from my uncle, who was renting a cabin in Rhododendron, to bring this place to my attention. He is a self-professed foodie, so when he told me how good the place was, I was game to try it. My uncle’s a smart guy. The décor is nice but not overly assuming; think white linen tablecloths and strands of twinkly lights, plus an outdoor patio area. I felt slightly underdressed in shorts and a t-shirt, but this is hardly a jacket-and-tie establishment, and nobody in there raised an eyebrow over my attire. Good, because this was one of those 90-degree Portland days(which meant low 80s up by the mountain). We were seated at a corner table, and service throughout the evening was friendly and efficient. Appetizers were ordered and shared amongst our group of 5; because they focus on local, natural, and seasonal foods, these included an earthy plate of chanterelle mushrooms drizzled with olive oil and served over toast, and heirloom tomatoes with balsamic vinegar. Both were fresh and tasty. We also enjoyed cups of smoked salmon chowder. For our entrees, three of us chose salmon. I opted for the char-grilled wild sockeye salmon, served atop a hash of yukon gold potatoes, caramelized shallots, and artichokes. The salmon was tender and flaky and seasoned expertly. I liked the textural and flavor contrast provided by the hash, but thought the portion was a little skimpy. The salmon was fine — I just wanted more of that great hash to accompany it! Not that anybody left hungry, with all the food we enjoyed. My wife is a little less enthusiastic about fish, and ordered a roasted pork loin sandwich. It came on a ciabbata roll and was served with cheddar cheese and a tomato chutney. She raved over this, and after trying a bite, I had to agree with her assessment. The pork was tender and smoky, and that chutney was bright, acidic, and packed with flavor. Great combination! My teenage daughter ordered a burger and fries. She was not super thrilled with the burger, but I suspect this is because it was made with natural, grass-fed beef. She’s not used to real, unprocessed food like that! All in all, we had a great dining experience here. Prices were reasonable, and there is a good wine list. Service is great. One thing’s for sure: I won’t pass by here without stopping in the future!

Nice patio atmosphere, promptly served. Nice laid back staff. Good for a day after a big hike. We both ordered salads. Caesar and a house green. Very good. Fresh and creative ingredients such as fried capers on the Caesar. Next came rigatoni with spinach, mushrooms and smoked chicken in a cream sauce. This needed a little more flavor but still good. My husband had the hanger steak. Very enjoyable. Great place we will be back

My grandparents own a small cabin up in this part of Oregon and we’ve been coming to Zig Zag /Welches /Government Camp ever since I was a young lad. Since the Rendezvous opened years back, this has been my family’s place for fine dining in the immediate area. In recent years, I would’ve given this place a two star rating(mostly for lackluster food that is a little overpriced); however, for old-times sake and the good memories, I would’ve given it a four. Hence, the compromise of three stars. I truly think it depends what night you come in, who your server is and how crowded the restaurant may be at the time. My grandmother swears by the fried razor clams, so that’s a must-try for seafoodies. My wife and I typically get the cheese plate, which, to us, is exceptional as far as cheese plates go(good selection of nuts, fruit, cheese that doesn’t overwhelm, usually some delicately thin-sliced pears… heavenly). I’ve had a variety of sandwiches and burgers, none of which are overly impressive or disappointing. Just solid, upscale pub food. They have a decent beer and wine list, which is always nice, and if nothing else, the ambience is fairly mellow. Like most restaurants in the area, whether it’s fine dining or not, casual attire is just fine. Their servers are typically very friendly and attentive.
