This place is pretty dirty. The tables and walls were dirty, floors dirty… idk how this place passes a health inspection. My bacon was so greasy that it took 5 napkins to blot enough of the grease off for me to eat it. I can’t get over the lack of hygiene enough to go back.

I discovered this place over 10 years ago. First time I’ve been here since I got the app. Not much changed. Feels like you time machined to the 50’s, which is great ambience. Now, to the food. It’s cooked right in front of you, so you know what you are getting. Blue plate special was meatloaf. They were out. Hubby ordered a burger with avacado. They were out of avacado. Other than that, the burger was delicious, according to hubby. Excellent onion rings. I tried one. I had the chef salad. It was huge! Full of ham, turkey and all the promised veggies. They provided a small bowl of dressing and 3 packets of crackers on the side. I was impressed, as it looked like the plates they made in my childhood. I’ve never been disappointed there. We had a coupon for buy one, get one free. We tipped both the cooks for a job well done. We will be back!

50’s diner with typical diner fare: burgers, sandwiches and breakfast. Great place to stop on the way through Kansas.

A little on the expensive side for what you get. Food was average but the staff was nice

I became a fan of Penny’s Diner in Alpine, TX. Home cooked fresh. Nothing fancy but you leave full. Retro styled diner where their breakfasts stand out the most. Great American comfort food. Their staff is great.

Average breakfast with good staff, but pricey for a small town diner. Two eggs bacon toast hash browns was over 7 bucks. The coffee is weak but that’s probably a given at any diner. The bacon wasn’t crispy and neither were the hash browns, but the pancake we had was big and tasty. Don’t want be too critical of a small town location, so it was pretty standard for any diner. Nothing to knock your socks off, but you can get a hot meal that’s pretty good.

Been here a couple times. It was alright. Good milkshakes though! Fun atmosphere. I’d try it again some time when I’m in the mood to cheat my diet.

Underwhelmed. Asked for hamburger, got cheeseburger. Meatloaf special was supposed to have green beans. Got corn.(Noticed server eating green beans…) meatloaf just OK. Mashed potatoes obviously from a mix. Given the indifferent service and the mediocre food, we will look for another option.

Amazing burgers, very large. Amazing customer service. We ordered 2 custom burgers, ice tea, orange juice, and a grill cheese for the kids. The servers and cooks were so friendly and attentive. You can choose between fries and Tater tots(both were great). Hint: ask for Fiesta Sauce for your tots and burger, it’s amazing!

Penny’s Diner is a charming blast from the past. We stopped there based on Unilocal reviews and were not disappointed. Burgers were juicy, fries were crispy and the iced tea icy. Service was efficient and friendly. No complaints and would stop there again.

Happened on this slice of Americana by accident but glad I did. It is a small diner with the classic diner look inside and out. It is a clean, cozy, and friendly atmosphere. I had a hamburger that was served with home made chips. The hamburger was hand made and grilled before our eyes. It was sizeable and juicy. The chips were made to order and were very good as well. My wife had a BLT which she raved about. We capped it off with a yummy chocolate milkshake. Menu is limited to sandwiches, soups, salads, and breakfast items. The experience reminded me of trips to the local drive-in as a boy growing up in a small town in PA.

Many memories are revived by this little diner. The food is what beings of my age grew up with … Crunchy hash browns made from real potatoes, not frozen and dumped on the grill. This was the place to be back in the 60’s! The chef and waiters are fantastic… The food is delicious !

If you need a TV every place you go your at the wrong place. This is a blast from the past. When I was in High School this would have been the place the kids hung out. Man this place takes me back. If your my age or remember your parents talking about High School come here and enjoy what we did as kids.

Stopped on the way to Dallas. Breakfast was great. The atmosphere is 50’s like they advertise. The building is pretty cool. Although the location is convenient, not sure if that is were I would have built the place. I will reserve teh 4th star until I have stopped again and had lunch or diner.

In the tradition of greasy spoon diners — Penny’s has cornered the market in Wellington, Kansas. If you are out late, coming home from a bar, and need a place to get something greasy to settle your stomach, this is the place. Their Big Scramble is probably the best thing on the menu. The wait staff is horrible, ever changing, and the cooks and the cooking area doesn’t inspire the greatest confidence. 1950’s diner décor and music.
