The botana beef is what we mainly go for. Huge portions for a great price. Lunch deals are great to. The seafood soups are okay but the cerviche is good. Service is always great here.

Came here with my family. It’s a super low-key place that seems to be crazy popular in this area. We had a botana, and from the looks of it, this seemed to be one of their most popular dishes. There were a ton of people picking them up for carry out. Ours was delicious and crazy huge. Five of us tackled the 4 person one, and we finished about half of it. Their lemonade tasted freshly squeezed and was equally delicious. It’s nothing fancy, but the food is solid.

The best service in the valley even though it’s rare to find an English speaking waiter. I had the shrimp tacos, several months ago in fact, and I still remember how good they were. It’s the sort of place where you find yourself surrounded by locals.

I like this place! It’s a good place. I like their Mexican plate. Every Mexican plate starts off with a soup as a appetizer. Didn’t like the soup. We had fun. With the sauce. The hottest pepper. I put it on my nacho and someone dared me to eat it. I ate it it was VERY hot! But back to the story, the Mexican plate was good! In the restaurant. But later I had a stomachache. Growling up a storm. like BUUUURRRRR… I think I can translate that. «I don’t think I feel good.» That’s all… Because SOMEONEHADTOMAKETHEFOODREALLYGOODTHATTHEYHADTOMAKEITGREASY! «Augh, I need to call mommy before the belly gets BUURRR… Aww.(Throws up).»

A must when we come to the valley is a botana. For many years we had been going to this nearby restaurant for our mandatory botana when in the valley. Today I felt like trying something different, new and found this restaurant on Unilocal. It’s nothing fancy in fact they have white Costco chairs but the staff is very attentive and the food was delicious. The beef was quite tender and the rice according to my wife, who does not like Mexican rice per se, said it was one of the best she’s had in a long time. We ordered the botana for one at $ 18.95 and it could have on honestly fed four moderate eating people. We stuffed ourselves and barely finished half of it. The great thing about coming to the valley is that you can find all kinds of restaurants. There are Mexican restaurants or Mexican restaurants or if you want something else you can always have Mexican restaurants. So if you’re looking for one of those unique Mexican restaurants in the valley I do recommend this place.

Definitely adding a photo on my next visit. Seafood soup as a starter was worth the trip by itself. My waiter suggested the flounder with garlic sauce. Portion was generous and the taste was amazing. Entrée was a lightly pan fried flounder filet drenched in a decadent garlic butter sauce. The sauce was loaded with minced garlic, however it didn’t have an overwhelming garlic punch. 10⁄10

My wife gets the fajita plate… I get the shrimp plate… and we share. why not just get the marytierra, because their fish taste just ok… but their shrimp are awesome and the fajitas are very flavorful

Closest thing to authentic Mexican(not Tex Mex) food I’ve had in a long time; and servers were attentive. Coming from a California girl living in Dallas visiting Weslaco, the tampiquena plate, fish tacos and shrimp were most excellent. I’d definitely eat here again soon especially for the awesome service!

This is my favorite place for happy occasions. The waiters always remember me, and they dress like butlers, and always give excellent service. Free chips and good salsa. Some meals come with free marisco… delicious fish soup. Botanas for two serves about six, it’s like a gigantic nachos. Our group usually orders the catfish, and pieces are as big as the plate, with excellent French fries or rice, Texas toast, and a nice crisp salad. I like the chicken tacos, and eat one as a taco, and open the others to make a BIG chicken salad with the rice and beans all mixed in, along with a tub or two of their taco salsa. We are always the only gringos in the place. Service is fast, considering how many people are there. Parking is a bit tricky out front, but one can park on the side street at the curb, or at Salazar’s across the street, which is a converted drive-in, where the honkies/gringos tend to eat. It’s not as fancy, tho. I am a gringa, by the way. I tend to show up before or after the rush crowds, and always get timely service. The restaurant is BIG. They have take-out parking and service. Salud! PS My other favorite restaurant is Monterrey, on Texas. ********* 5-20-2015 Ate their today, and everyone loved their meals! Chicken fried steak, two orders of their chicken tacos, and the catfish, which is GIGANTIC! Watch out, though, for their drink prices. A lemonade was over $ 3. All the waitstaff help one another, and aren’t put off by helping another waiter’s table. As always, excellent service, stupendously delicious food, and horrible parking!

Popular with the locals and winter Texans and packed on Friday night! I don’t care much for the gloomy atmosphere(cinder block walls, greasy, folding tables and chairs, lots of people coming and going) but the service is attentive, the food is alright and the portions are MASSIVE. The prices are higher than one would expect given the facility, but then the portions are twice as big too. On this trip we split the botana for one which consisted of fried corn tortilla halves topped with refried beans and cheese topped with a huge pile of beef fajita meat and crowned with a cheese-filled corn tortilla. It came with a small plate of rice(LOVED the rice) and a small plate of chopped tomatoes, onions and guacamole. The beef fajita meat was tender and tasted good, but the rice was even better. There was enough food left over for us both to have another meal. We each had the limonada(a little too sweet, but okay) and the portions on those were huge as well. A lot of places charge for refills on homemade limonada but they didn’t. The waiter even brought us to-go cups for our drinks which was appreciated. It looks like they do quite a takeout business too because all throughout our visit people were picking up very large orders that appeared to be for events. The parking lot is small and gets packed, but there is extra parking across the street at Salazar’s Burgers.

Usually I would give high marks to this place, tonight was a total fail on them and a legimate business. I had a friend come down from Dallas and I kept telling her she needed to try their botana. I call at 9pm to place a to go and they told me that their«TO Go» is closed? Hence the restaurant closes at 10:30. Very very disappointed, I will be taking my business elsewhere like back to Ciro’ s.

Order a fish platter for two with a cost of 37 dollars. Plate consisted of a bed of rice and fries covered with dry fishy flavored fish, toast and a few shrimp. Worst platter I ever had and far too expensive. I felt ripped off and I will never return.

Had the Sopa de mariscos. Good but not wow Place is small but clean and nice looking. Chips and salsas are homemade and tasty. Menu is very extensive. One strike is they don’t offer tap water. If you want water, you have to pay for it. To me, this is a tacky way to try to increase revenue.

The food here is great, I’ve never had any problems with them. The most popular choices with my family have always been botanas, both fajita/chicken and seafood. Portions are VERY generous and a botana for one easily feeds two. A botana for three can go for a crowd of five to six people with leftovers. The seafood botanas aren’t as generous, but the food is always delicious. You can ask for rice & beans or small cups of caldo to go with the botana. I prefer the caldo, but the rice here is ridiculous, so either choice is a good call. Keep an eye out for the daily lunch specials too, they have some big meals at low prices. The manager is also very polite and professional and checks up on customers to make sure everything is up to standard. Go here for good Tex-Mex food!

I recently tried to stop eating meat. Not a good idea when you come to a place like this. Ive been coming here for years(or at least whenever I visit my parents) and Ive never been disappointed. Although lately we have just been ordering the botana’s. You really get the most bang for your buck. I dont think there is any place in the valley that has better fajitas.

Try the Faquita Botana’s or the Cheese Enchiladas here, they are delish! Any type of marisco is great here as well. This place is a family favorite and the owner is always attentive and happily greets customers throughout the restaurant. Great ambience & fantastic waiters!
