Review for the Weslaco, TX restaurant: Stay away if you’re looking for a job. I worked here and it’s honestly THE worst place I’ve ever worked in. I recently talked to another ex-employee and she says the same. The manager, Dolores Olalde is a cruel despot with the employees. Always in a bad temper, yells and humiliates staff in public. I understand we’re workers, but get off your high horse. You being«above» us as manager gives you no right to treat us like chattel. You really feel like a slave in that place. I was the cashier and would work on average 14 hr shifts. Because of the high volume of people, we rarely had time to eat, or go to the bathroom. Poor us that have a bladder because we would get yelled at for having to pee. A lot of us, myself included, put up with your bullshit and mercurial behavior out of necessity. We sacrifice our dignity and grovel because we need to, but that doesn’t give you the right to treat us like absolute shit. When I first got there, at the end of the night, whatever food was going to be thrown away was taken home by some people… stale dinner rolls, …you know, crap. Well one day as I went in for the morning shift(opening) we see a handwritten note taped to the doors in the back where we clock in. Basically it said she(manager) was carefully watching us through the cameras and the next time she catches anyone STEALING that food(destined for the trash remember) is subject to immediate termination. I thought it was pretty ridiculous. The man who took food the most was a server who took it to his 6 kids. Honestly, I don’t know how this woman has lasted as long as she has in this position. She wants to talk about«stealing» leftovers? Her or the assistant manager’s husband(at the time, now I hear the assistant is no longer there) would come in frequently(several times a week) to eat lunch or dinner for free of course. Sometimes all 4 of them would eat together in some corner. Which is the real stealing here? Taking stale, cold leftovers home for your kids, or management having their family members come in to eat for free all the time? Which is fair? Talk about double standards. Another thing I noticed both from experience, what other employees witnessed and reading reviews on here, she just doesn’t have an attitude with employees but with customers as well. Sarcastic and just plain rude. The food is also not worth the ridiculous price paid. The place does smell and it is dirty. If you always saw dirty bathrooms or floors, it’s because of what I said, we just did not have time to go around cleaning. The woman was unreasonable. I would start sweeping, cleaning the bathroom or wiping down surfaces when I would get yelled at for leaving my post… yet I also got yelled at for NOT doing the above mentioned when I was supposed to. Well?! Make up your goddamn mind, woman! Either you want me to clean or you don’t? Don’t always blame the staff, people.

This is your typical Golden Corral — only slightly grimier. The food tastes like the usual Golden Corral fare, but things don’t seem quite as well-tended as at other locations. The greens at the salad bar always have too many slimy, marred pieces. The tables are always a little greasy, bathrooms are dirty(even at breakfast) and I shudder to think about what treasures are hidden in that chocolate fountain. However, the servers are very pleasant.
