Tumbleweed Quilts & Fabrics

This is the largest and most impressive quilting store that I have ever visited! There is a huge selection of fabrics and sewing notions, and the prices are really reasonable. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, and really knows their inventory. They offer all levels of classes (from beginning to expert) and the teachers are terrific! The store is huge, and definitely worth whatever distance you need to travel. Enjoy!

I have been a patron since they moved to the «new» location and before the «new addition» and have to say that whomever thought this shop is pricey is way off the beaten path… the prices here are the most economical for the grade and quality of their fabrics. You can find it cheaper at a Walmart or Joanne’s, but you are not getting the same quality… you’re getting grade 2 or 3 greige goods. So if quality is your game… this is the place… hospitality, friendliness… not so much… thus the 4. Actually Tumbleweed is the only textile reason to go over the bridge…

I had read some of the reviews and was a little worried about going, but the fabric junkie me couldn’t resist.
The ladies at the shoppe were amazing !!! Super friendly the second I walked in the door. I have to say they were by far the friendliest in the area and and shop in recent memory. The selection was awesome! The little swimming pool of scraps is so cute. I will make my way back here for sure!

Fabric selection is terrific but in no way does that make up for the attitude of the staff. A more unpleasant group of women I have never met. Grumpy, unhelpful, unsmiling,
unpleasant. Stopped many times but will not subject myself to their mean
spirited attitudes anymore just not worth putting myself through all of that. What happened, quilters are supposed to be the friendliest, nicest people.

Only reason I gave more than one star is that they have good selection of fabric. It would be a great store except for the employees. They are seriously unpleasant. I feel like it takes effort to be that unpleasant, unhelpful, and rude. I’ve stopped here a few times over the years and it is always the same. I just came here with my mother because I said it is good to support small sewing businesses, but I’m so off this place now, I don’t think I’ll ever go back, good selection or not. I hope people think twice before visiting this store. Such a shame, there are so few good fabric stores out there.

I agree with so many others — what a shame the sales folk are so grumpy and self absorbed! I have been in several times now thinking maybe I just hit them on a bad day, but no. Add to that, lots of fabric but a old and dated except for a small amount up front. Although I live in Barnstable in the summer, I will shop on line.

Well, the store is wonderful and a quilter’s dream. The reason for my poor review is that no matter when I go there the salesladies are so unfriendly! They don’t welcome any of the customers into the store and they are not helpful at all. If you ask for opinion about a certain fabric they won’t give it to you. They are just grumpy, grumpy ladies and seem to not like their job. I have asked fellow quilters about their grumpiness and they all agree-​great store, great fabrics, but really awful salesladies and awful customer service. The managers really need to hire better help or send these ladies to a «how to be friendly» school. I don’t live on the Cape, but we own a home there and I now tend to go there only when I can’t find what I need off the Cape and think they might have it. If the salesladies were friendlier then I’d definitely make Tumbleweeds a place to go every time I go to the Cape. Sorry ladies-​you really need to put a smile on your face and learn how to be nice to customers!

Love this store, even if I always get lost driving to it. They have so many cute fabrics for quilting that I could honestly spend too much money there. There is a section of cute prints, black and whites, and then the color wheel of your dreams :) They also do classes, but if you want to park there you should go when there isn’t one. The parking lot can be kinda tight otherwise

My wife asked a question regarding a product and the salesperson was SO rude and condescending! Hard to believe that they can stay in business treating customers that way.

Oh, Tumbleweed’s! You’re so charming, spacious and packed to the roof with treasures.
Reason’s I’ve been known to make the hour long drive to this lovely little place:
* Great sale section (we’re talking multiple rooms!)
* Vast assortment of both traditional and contemporary styled quilt fabrics
* Practically a library’s worth of how-​to and instructional books to buy.
* The Fat Quarter kiddie pool! (50 cents a pop; I could spend hours just digging through there for the perfect fat quarter to finish up a project.)
Seriously, people, Tumbleweed’s is worth the drive if you’re not on Cape. You won’t be disappointed but you’ll be a little poorer after you’ve spent your whole paycheck on so many lovely fabrics!

Vacationing for a week from Cambridge and needed some thread to finish a project. Trying to avoid Joann’s, I had no idea what I was walking into — the biggest/​best quilting store I’ve been to EVER. Walked out with yards of half-​off fabric from the sale section. Literally thousands of fabrics to choose from for all styles, and shelves and shelves of well displayed books and pattern kits. I would highly recommend this place, and who knows — should I come up with a big project in the next few months I may drive all the way down the Cape to shop for it. Great place to spend a rainy afternoon. Also love it that I live in a city where I’ve visited all the local quilt stores and it takes leaving the city to find a place like this!
