By far this was one of the best meals I’ve had in a long time. Thank you Unilocal for advertising the customer appreciation menu which sparked my interest In this place. I had no idea that Prime 29 even existed and turns out it is located right next to Plum Market which I also enjoy. I made a reservation through open table and it was a seamless experience. Upon walking though the doors you are greeted by a gorgeous wine cellar and a smiling hostess. We were seated at a very cool half moon booth which was perched up a bit, you can really have some good people watching from there. We came for customer appreciation week and chose to order from their special menu rather than the regular menu(which looked amazing). The customer appreciation menu included a 3 course meal(appetizer, entrée and desert) plus champagne for $ 35. Our server Michael was unaware of the inclusion of champagne but when I showed him the ad he quickly made sure we had our glasses of champagne with zero hesitation. For our appetizers we started with the shrimp haystack, which is sautéed shrimp over a bed of sautéed spinach and topped with potato straws, it was phenomenal. We also had the smoked chicken truffles which were outstanding and reminded me of a mini crab cake consistency wise but had that amazing smoky flavor. We both ordered the surf and turf for dinner because why not eat lobster and filet every opportunity that you can! The lobster was cooked perfectly and the butter was hot and delicious. Steaks were exactly medium and melted in your mouth! Soooo good, I think I made inappropriate sounds while eating this amazing meal.(Whoops). We got one of each of the dessert options, the crème brûlée which was topped with raspberries and whipped cream and the flourless chocolate torte with strawberries and vanilla gelato. Both were very good. We were so full but couldn’t resist eating our desserts. Every thing about this dining experience was top notch. Our server was great, attentive but not annoying. He seemed to know when to check on us and when to let us enjoy our meal and conversation. I don’t have a single improvement I’d make. I will 100% be back… and soon!

To start off the meal the restaurant could not provide us with a drink menu or a list of their whiskeys/scotches. Our waitress(who happened to be tending the bar as well) was however very helpful in making suggestions for scotch and creating drinks for the table. Our service was slow mainly because our waitress was also taking care of the entire bar. The steak was cooked to the correct temperature but the crust on the steak was charred almost to the point that it was inedible. The quality of meat was mediocre and even the filet was chewy. Our table ordered two filets and one prime rib cap. The prime rib cap was the most disappointing. For $ 29 you would expect a good size piece of prime rib. The prime rib came out in little slices and couldn’t have been more than 6 oz. The quality of food is not up to par with the prices and all three of us have decided to never try this steak house again.

Went to Prime 29 for Happy Hour and while the drink specials wer pretty good, the happy hour food was not impressive. I want to come back for dinner, as we walk by and it always smells so good!

We had a wonderful time while dining here. Our food and waiter were excellent. The bread served with dinner had an amazing parmesan type crust. We had reisling wine with dinner and it was divine. Our steaks were cooked perfect and the side of parmesan corn was excellent. The sides are large enough to share. Everything is ale cart and that can get pricey but it was a delicious meal. We shared the fried oreos for dessert paired with a cab franc wine that was so good! The oreos came with fresh berries, vanilla bean ice cream and chocolate sauce. Definitely will visit again!

I had a very enjoyable filet and Caesar salad to go on New Year’s Eve. I would like to go back when I’m in town and enjoy the ambiance of the restaurant and try more items because it was amazing.

Steak was phenomenal. Lobster bisque to die for and crab cakes are the best in the area(better than Joe Muer). Calamari is highly recommended and you won’t find a better burger anywhere(you can tell I’ve come here a few times). I tried fish once and it was ok — but not as amazing as steak. If you want fish go to Joe Muer — if you want steak, go to Prime 29! And don’t forget their fried carrot cake… Amazing!

We had a great dinner! We went when they first opened, it was good — wasn’t great where we needed to rush back, but wasn’t bad. We had a great experience. The menu is fantastic with a huge variety, flavor and large portions. The calamari was delicious with a yummy sauce. The ahi tuna crisp was almost like a pizza. The cesar salad was in a croûton — the presentation was impressive. The salmon was large enough to share. The bread pudding, which I normally don’t like, was outstanding. While it is pricey, you get what you pay for! We will be back soon!

Wanted to try this restaurant for a while and I am glad I did. Went for dinner in a group of 4. Everything tasted great from start to finish. Everyone seemed to like their meals. I had the bass special with rock shrimp risotto and it was phenomenal. Both the kale and Caesar Salads were delicious. Filet Sliders is definitely something to check out. Their filet and Chilean Sea Bass were very good and the molten chocolate dessert is a must. Only knock on the dining experience was that the waiter didn’t write down our order and asked us twice to confirm the order. Nice guy but perhaps writing it down would alleviate that issue. He was very knowledgeable on the wine and food menu which is always nice to hear.

Had an enjoyable Christmas Eve dinner here. Started off with ahi tuna, pork belly and lamb sausage. Tuna and sausage were delicious. He tuna had a citrusy, cilantro flavored to it, sausage well flavored as well. Pork belly wasn’t anything special and just tasted like pork dipped in bbq sauce. For entrée I had the halibut special– very tasty and large portion. The halibut piece itself was very moist and a large and meaty piece. Served in somewhat of a broth with shrimp pieces and sautéed spinach. Overall all pretty good. Our server was awesome, enthusiastic and funny. Will be coming back here again.

Nothing was bad per say, but considering the prices I was expecting a little more. Service was average, bordering on poor considering the lack of people there that particular evening. The steak was good, but again, I was wanting a little more. They definitely have a more hip and intimate environment, I wouldn’t recommend for a business meal.

Outstanding experience at Prime29 Steakhouse. We had noticed it Friday night driving through so I check Unilocal and opentable a reservation. We started off with 12 oysters in the half shell, and they were amazing. I had a stoli martini up with a twist, and the bartender is cealrly a pro. Being a spoiled San Francisco resident I must say the oysters were superb. We ordered the striped bass entrée that came with a rock shrimp risotto, and the 8oz filet mignon medium. We mentioned in passing to our server that we were going to split the entrees so I was expecting they’d bring two side plates. Instead, they split the entrees directly into our plates! We were delighted. We also shared the grilled asparagus side. The meal was PHENOMENAL! The meat perfect. The risotto creamy but not with cream. The rock shrimp and sea bass were fresh, cooked to perfection. We washed it down with an $ 80 bottle of 2012 Amarone. Now that’s what I also like about Midwest five star restaurants: the same bottle in San Francisco would have been $ 120. The ambiance was cool and modern with soft lighting perfect with a date with your boo. Device was simply impeccable, and there was a trio with music that you can still talk to your boo across the table. I am definitely going back next time I’m in Detroit and I highly recommend it to the locals.

I have been here twice. The first time was a few years ago and I remember it as «ok». My wife and I decided to try it again for our anniversary last night. It was outstanding, great drinks, food was incredible and the service was good. I had the lamb porterhouse and she had the filet. When I booked it I let them know it was our anniversary. They surprised us with a carrot cake fried desert that was just amazing. A must have, trust me you will not regret it. We will be back again for sure.

Thoroughly enjoyed the ahi tuna sashimi appetizer and my Atlantic salmon entrée! Everyone else in the group loved their entrées too — assortment of rib eye, filet mignon, lamb chops. Couple the great food with good wine and attentive service, some fantastic conversation and you have a memorable evening!

This place looks nice but thats where my compliments end. Let’s start with $ 40.00 for two very small lamb chops. I ordered them medium they came very well done. They brought me somore they were completely raw on the inside. The best part was the owners explanation. He says that it was probably due to the dum lighting in the restaurant. And then I had to ask, well hows the lighting in the kitchen. He says oh its bright in there, then I said exactly! Wth!

When I think date night, I think prime 29. This place is awesome!!! The ambiance is great and so is the food. They have the best oysters in the area. I love the oysters! The calamari is great and drinks are always strong. Great to find a place not cheap on their alcohol. The deep fried Oreos, I couldn’t brag about enough. I had my daughters baptism here and they hosted the party perfectly in a private room. This place is worth every single penny for parties. All my guest were so pleased which pleased me!

Prime 29 has taken up permanent residence on the list of restaurants I have no desire to ever step foot in again. Congratulations? A friend and I go(went) here regularly for happy hour. We love(d) it — the house wine is great, the bar menu is small but has tasty eats, the building itself is beautiful. This past Friday we decided to make another triumphant return to happy-up our Friday, which had been pretty dismal and really needed some happying-up. We arrived to a bar area that wasn’t packed even a little bit(around 5p) — the bar itself was about half full and 2 of the 4 high tops had people at them. One of the hightops already had a table full of food and drinks, and the other had just ordered when we were sitting down. I thought to myself«Excellent! We will have no problem getting wine into our hands with this place half empty and everyone else having already ordered!» WRONG. We took one of the high tops, ready to order at least wine without looking at the menu. 10 minutes later, the waiter comes over and asks if we want happy hour or regular menu. We say happy hour. He drops a menu on the table, turns on his heels, and peels out of there. Ok, we will share a menu, but why the running away? He comes back a few minutes later, drops a second menu, says nothing, heel turn, peels away. I am trying to get his attention to 1. order drinks and 2. ask a question about something new on the menu. He keeps on truckin’ away. We wait another 5 – 10 minutes and decide to go sit at the bar so we can order our wine. The bartender asks why we moved, so I said that I couldn’t get our waiter’s attention and we were already 20 minutes in, as one of three of his tables, without having been able to order anything or ask a question. I think that we will now be able to order our drinks and eats. WRONG. The bartender offers his apology, says he’s sure the waiter was coming back soon, then goes off to the side of the bar and starts cutting up lemons, and still no one wants to take our order? Another five minutes later, I raised my hand and ask who we order from(at this point we are two of four people total sitting at the bar). The bartender(who I will say is very friendly, just seems a little frazzled) came back around, we ordered our wine, and then had to flag him down again to order the food. Finally — a half hour into being there and we have our food/drinks ordered! I’m thinking maybe we can get this happying-up train back on track. WRONG. The waiter who we originally had that kept dropping stuff at the table and running away comes around to where the bartender is cutting up the lemons. This is 5 – 6 feet away from my friend and I. He starts bitching about us, very loudly, while pointing at us and saying things like«absolutely ridiculous» and«I had JUST set down the menus.» Unfortunately, the waiter forgot to wear his cloak of invisibility while doing this, so we could see and hear him from our chairs nearly an arm’s reach away(and a cloak of invisibility wouldn’t have made his voice inaudible so it’s utility really is questionable, but I digress). The bartender tells him to shut it down, let it go, and get back to work. Excellent advice, good sir, and I think the awkwardness of this situation has come to an end. WRONG. Does the smarmy waiter take this advice? Oh, hell no! He continues loudly berating us to the bartender while pointing at us and flailing his arms about. I flag a bus boy down and ask him if he could relay a message to the waiter/bartender that they might want to move it down the hallway if there’s going to be a patron bash-fest in the mostly empty and thus relatively quiet bar area. The bartender tries to drag the waiter down the hallway away from us, but the waiter(who the bus boy guy told me is named Elvis), is having none of it. Alas — if he moves farther down the hallway, we might not be in earshot, and this would thwart his plans to let us know how outraged he is at us for moving from a table in his section after getting zero service for 20 minutes in a not even a little bit busy bar. When it becomes clear that the waiter will not end his tirade until we leave, my friend and I decide to call it quits on this debacle of a happy hour and head up the road to Crispelli’s. The bartender yelled from partially down the hallway, still trying to get the waiter to stop his temper-tantrum, that the wine is on him. Thanks, but we aren’t going to sit there and finish the $ 5 wine while getting passively-aggressively yelled at/about. I called the restaurant from the parking lot to talk to a manager, but after being on hold for 5 minutes, my desire to continue our happying-up plan at Crispelli’s won out and I hung up. p. s. The staff at Crispelli’s is super friendly and helpful and their delish pizza/gelato/wine helped us with our happying-up! Also, no one yelled at/about us there!

Husband brought me here for my birthday yesterday. I got the filet and a side of mac n cheese, he got a burger w truffle fries. We also got the crab cakes as an app. Everything was delicious, but the star of the show was definitely the burger. Best burger I’ve ever had, hands down. Prime 29 offers halal meats for an upcharge, which I appreciated. Service was excellent. The food isn’t cheap but it is definitely quality. This is a great place to come for a special occasion/more upscale date night. At the the end of our meal, which we didn’t finish bc the portions are very fair, our waiter brought us out a complimentary birthday dessert which was delicious and we were able to take a few bites out of even though we were stuffed. I believe it was fried carrot cake bites with a cream cheese coconut icing. Overall, great food, great service, and great atmosphere.

Discovered this place earlier this year. Been here twice now. Took the wife here for her birthday yesterday. If I tried to find something wrong here I could not. I want to complain about how expensive it is to dine here but everything was just too perfect. Exceptional service. Food was cooked to perfection. Everything from the appetizers to the main courses were just awesome. We had the Ahi Tuna Crisp as an app and Salmon and what they call«Organic chicken» for main dishes. Again I can’t find anything negative here. High end place. Dim lighting. Great for special occasions.

This was our first visit. We wanted good steaks, good wine and a patio. Prime 29 is nearby, but we have never visited because the patio fronts Maple Road and we were worried about road noise. Road noise is not a problem. They play an easy listening selection at a volume low enough to allow conversation without straining, and just loud enough that the road noise is not particularly noticeable/objectionable. We arrived without a reservation at 6PM and were seated promptly. Our waiter was excellent; prompt, knowledgeable and attentive. He did not write down our order; which always makes me worry … more on this later. We shared the calamari appetizer — a generous portion and expertly prepared. Among the best I have ever eaten. We also shared a Village salad — Croutons, tomato, croutons, cucumber, croutons, red onion, croutons, ricotta & croutons. Croutons dominate this salad. I would not order again. We both ordered 8 oz filets, medium rare and split an order of green beans. One steak arrived medium, the other was was medium well. The waiter offered(insisted) on re-doing both steaks. We had other plans for the evening and simply did not have time to accommodate a redux. The filets themselves were excellent pieces of meat and nicely seasoned. The green beans were fresh and thankfully, not overcooked … but the portion size(for one) was a bit stingy for $ 9. Who screwed-up both steaks? Dunno. Not writing down an order always bugs me. Perhaps the waiter entered our order incorrectly. Perhaps the kitchen screwed-up. No paper trail. Our schedule could not accommodate them fixing the problem. Without me asking or fussing, Prime 29 did comp our two glasses of wine. Thank you. Before tip and without the two glasses of wine: $ 116. Their WiFi network: Do NOT use. It is NOT safe for customers, inspite of being«encrypted.» CCW friendly(if you are not drinking). The website … autoplays music. Arrrrgh. I am marking Prime 29 down(only) 1-star due the two steak problems, the unanticipated nature of the croûton salad and the somewhat stingy portion of green beans Had they not offered to comp the wine, I would’ve marked them down 2-stars. Will I return? Yes. I want to give them another chance at a defect-free dining experience.

This is my second time at Prime and I’m just blown away. From service, to appetizers, dinner, desert I have yet to be disappointed. Based off what I have ate so for I recommend the following: Appetizers: Fried jalapeño Calamari– Comes with this amazing sauce Crab Cakes — two large pieces Spinach Dip Meals Burger and fries — HIGHLY a recommended Cajon Chicken Pasta– I replaced the chicken with shrimp and it was amazing! Scallops over risotto and mushroom(this was a special that was made three weeks prior however the chef was kind enough to remake it for me and I have NEVER a ate a seafood dish that tasty) Last but not least DESERT! Fried carrot cake over cheesecake cream– I’m not a desert kind of gal but I promise u this was worth every single bite!!! I highly recommend this place for obviously more reasons then one!
