West Bloomfield Township Westacres Branch Library

Quietly nestled off of Commerce road. Much, much smaller than the main branch. However, it is still very nice. Much less hustle and bustle. Multiple fireplaces to study by in bit comfy chairs… free computers… audio books, cds, dvds, fiction, non-​fiction. When you search a book on their online catalog it will let you know if the book is at the branch or main. If you cannot drive out to the main, they will get it sent over. No study rooms, but plenty of areas to study solo. I find it easier to get new releases here if you time it right. You have to give a shout out to Westacres as this was one of the first libraries to loan out VHS… and luckily for us other libraries followed suite. This little library has had many, many facelifts in 1984 and 2000. Many grants and milages have assisted with this. Make sure you register your card as a michicard– you can visit multiple libraries in the county. However, melcat will ship it to your library from anywhere in Michigan… I cannot praise melcat enough!

This library isn’t as good as the main library, but it’s still a great branch.
It’s much smaller, and doesn’t have the fancy study rooms or computer labs, but they aren’t lacking modern style. They have about 20 or so computers, with quite a few hooked up to scanners.
They have a decent film and cd collection, I don’t believe it’s as extensive as the main library, but still pretty good. And since it is a branch, they usually have more ‘hot’ items in stock, since fewer people go there.
They also have a good amount of free video games for the xbox 360 and the wii. I love it. It’s also walking distance from my new residence, so that’s a huge perk.
They have a nice little mini park with benches across from the entrance, and their grounds are nice.
Another perk is that there are usually more museum passes available at this branch.
The only reason I guess why I’m giving this one star less is because it’s not as big and there aren’t any spiffy quiet rooms.
