Maybe it was the night we went but it was so loud we couldn’t hear ourselves talk. I understand it’s a tavern but everyone was competing to be the loudest and it was only 5pm. The food took quite a long time to come. Like over an hour. We got our salads after about 45 minutes. My wife got a chewy $ 20 Delmonico steak that was sent back. Our server wasn’t tot too attentive. I had the fish and chips which were average. Wish it would have been better. It has such great potential.

Not much going on for this place. All the food we tried was bland(clam chowder, buffalo chicken pizza, bacon chicken wrap, etc.) which might be saved if it had some rustic charm like the Salem Cross Inn(that’s what I thought going in because it’s called Ye Old Tavern) but it’s been renovated to look like any other restaurant, white walls, granite countertops(charmless, basically). To top it off our waitress dropped off our food and we were hoping she’d come back so we could ask for some condiments to pep up our food but she never did. Bummer, was hoping this place was gonna be neat.

Our first time here even though we’ve lived locally for years, a fair amount of cash later and the steak«special» meal was fully returned, I asked for medium well and it was so overlooked and chewy it was horrid, I now wish we hadn’t stopped here. Our daughter ordered the grilled teriyaki, a grilled chicken with just a bit of sauce poured on top. I could have marinated it at home for much less. We brought company for dinner and I’ve never been so embarrassed. The waitress wasn’t very friendly and brought drinks 1. At. A. Time. 1 beer… 1 water.1 coffee.1 tea. We also waited 1 hr 15 just to be served. And let’s not get into how LOUD it is that our table could barely hold a conversation. Maybe some wall decorations or SOMETHING to quieten down the decibels

First time here and wasn’t all that impressed. Service was slow from the start. When I ordered my meal, the waitress asked me if it was a special because she didn’t know what I ordered… which was indeed a dinner special(surf & turf). As she walked away after taking my order, I had to stop her and ask her if she wanted to know what kind of seafood I wanted as there was a choice. She also had to come back three times to clarify my order. Her reasoning was that she was wasn’t supposed to work that night. That would be understandable if they just threw on her on the floor, but take a minute or two to look over the specials. They had a good selection of beers on-tap, which was a nice surprise. We also ordered the nachos which were pretty good. The surf and turf was $ 28 and was nowhere near that value in quality. For that price, I would have expected more flavor in, well… everything. My wife got the Shepherd’s Pie, which was pretty good. In fact, we ended up switching meals because we both disliked what we ordered. I also realize it’s a tavern, but it was a bit strange to have people playing pool 4 – 5 feet from where we were sitting. My guess is that if you’ve grown-up in the Brookfields where there is little to choose from, this is a good restaurant, but as someone who was fortunate enough to grow up in the Northampton area that is loaded with great restaurants, I wouldn’t return for anything other than drinks and appetizers.

Love this place — happy to see continued improvements to the rooms and the building. Solid food, great stop when you’re traveling through the Brookfields, and need a beer and a bite. My Dad always loved the Mac and Cheese!

My Nana stays at a facility just down the road. While visiting, we decided to abscond with her and get dinner. The staff put us at a larger table than our group required, because it was easily accessible for the wheelchair that my Nana was piloting. We didn’t even ask. And they were very attentive to our family. The facility was very clean. From the looks of it, it’s geared up right for sports. The fare on the menu is what you might expect from a small townie tavern, but what surprises you is the quality and taste. I ordered the steak, medium rare. Someone else ordered the pizza. Both were fantastic. And because it was someone’s birthday, there was something for dessert. Pricing is what you might expect for a casual dining spot. There’s not much in West Brookfield, but this place definitely gets my business when I come through.

We’ve been sitting here for a hour waiting for Two Burgers. Still don’t have our order. Nothing is worth this.

A hidden Gem. some creative thin crust Pizza’s and the Best Fish Sandwich for Miles and Miles … I took friends there, local area residents that have never been in all the years it’s been open, and they loved it. Only complaint, sometimes serves are REALLY bad and the bar maid(the one I had) can have a nasty, curt abrupt disposition like an animal with distemper. FOOD“S GREAT!

My boyfriend took me to the Tavern to get a burger. He said I have to try it. I got the blue cheese burger with all the toppings, lettuce, tom, red onion and pickles. No need for any condiments in my opinion. It’s so incredibly good that I would have to say it was the best burger I’ve had in New England. You can tell it was a perfect patty(no premade) and it was cooked to the exact description I gave the bartender. It’s so easy to put bad posts out there when you are really mad about one place or another but I really wanted to give credit where credit is due.

Excellent food and amazing service. We were interested in the history of the place so our waitress told the owner who in turn gave us a private tour and history lesson! Their buffalo tenders are the best we have had. The service has always been fast, polite and energetic, filling our water glasses and asking if we need anything. I would recommend to all!

West Brookfield is a sleepy, quiet town(at least to an outsider), and this place was kind of a surprise. Walked in thinking«townie bar», which it was, but folks are friendly and welcoming. We ordered the haddock sandwich, which came with fresh fried fish hand breaded(versus the frozen monsters you can so easily get elsewhere). The onion rings, which they offered versus fries, were fresh onions — hand breaded, fried and delivered hot, and deeeelish.

Stopped for dinner and had the best wood fired brick oven pizza of my life! People were friendly, drinks were strong and prices were perfect! Thanks for a great night =}

A friend brought me here saying it’s one of the best places in the area. Walking in the place was crowded, flat screens with football on and happy looking patrons. We sat in the dining area near the billiards table. The bartender was quick to get us our drinks and a menu. We ordered the buffalo tenders and a beef, onion, mushroom and garlic pizza. The tenders were perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The bartender brought out a pizza that was not«presentable». It looked great except a small part missing out of the center. She said they were making another for us and we could have both at no extra cost. I was amazed, I would have been happy with the first«imperfect» pizza. The pizza was great, cooked to my level of perfection and completely covered with toppings. I can’t say enough about the bartender. She was quick, attentive and friendly. I highly recommend this place if you’re ever in the area and looking for a quick beer and dinner.

This place is dirty and dark. The food is mediocre lacking creativity and the service was sub par. Pass on this one.

We order or go to the Pleasant Street Pub & Pizza at least once a week. Their newly installed brick oven generates some of the best pizza in the area. Also, they are masters of anything fried. I’ve also tried their pasta, which is adequate(not my fav) and their salads are good to. They have a full bar, a pool table, darts and great juke box and a friendly local clientele. If you haven’t tried the Tavern(now the pub) since they renovated, go in and check it out! You won’t be disappointed!
