Great staff, friendly, clean, great hours. Wouldnt tan anywhere else. Never had any problems and the staff is very helpful and gives advice in the customer’s best interest

Snagged a Groupon and have been a loyal client for about a year now. Steve is great(he also reviewed) and gives great tips on color. I only use the spray tans. That said, there are many problems with it, including water dripping from the top of the machine while the spray is being applied, the fans not working, blending lotion being out of stock, no soap in the room to wash your hands, etc. when I have brought these things to their attention, I received two free tans but the original tan was ruined so it’s not that helpful for me. Earlier this summer, management ran a hashtag contest. I entered and have more than 4000 followers on Instagram. I audited the contest and discovered that I in fact won, but when I brought it to this locations attention, three staffers just shrug their shoulders. You’re welcome for the exposure! Clearly, I’m going elsewhere.

There seems to be a new manager and the place has made strides of improvements with their customer service and ambiance. It’s nice to even notice that season and holiday décor are on display even though you just run in, tan, and leave Bc it shows they care about their business! Beds are always clean. As soon as you leave there is someone walking back to bed to immediately clean UNLIKE other places I’ve tanned at(big deal). If you’re in the area this is the place to tan! Also– I’ve done the fit-wrap here and results are real and it does work! I was skeptical doing this Bc I was grossed out with the image of everyone sweating in this wrap but employees are very on top of keeping this clean and they have a plastic suit you go into. If you’re looking to get airbrushed you absolutely have to have Steve spray you, must.

I had bought a groupon for 2 spray tans. While I was there I noticed I could get offers if I texted a number they had listed. I got an extra free tan from that! Fantastic! My first two experiences were great! Stephen was AWESOME! if you want a spray tan he does a great job and I never looked like an «umpalumpa». He’s very nice, professional and helpful. Needless to say the last time I went I didn’t request Stephen, big mistake. First off the girl tried to tell me my groupon expired may 3, but it specifically said June 3. She did«fix it» in the computer, but I just felt annoyed I had to justify the right to my tan. Anyway, she then proceeded to ask me what color I wanted her to use, I HAVENOCLUE??? I feel they should be able to ask you how you tan and tell by the color what shade they tan you. She sprayed me like she was painting a wall. The. Asked me if I wanted her to darken any of the places. Again, I HAVENOCLUE. I just found this experience to be quite stressful. Bottom line, Stephen is great and I will only request him if I return for another spray!

I just had the most amazing experience here that I had to Unilocal.My regular salon(future ex salon) was closed, so I quickly Googled a nearby tanning salon that was open and I came across beach bum. I’ve had bad experiences at the east Hanover location so I was hesitant but booooyyy was I wrong. I walked in and there was Janeli like a tanning angel. She was soooo friendly and inviting which is so important to me(I’m a waiter so I know good customer service) She told me about all the beds and showed me the packages. Most importantly, She helped me pick out the PERFECT lotion. I didn’t want to buy a package today(and was so grateful that she wasn’t pushy and told me that she would be there tomorrow) but I used a diamond bed and was so pleased. I will soon be back to buy a package and that is all because of the amazing customer service that I received from Janeli.

The worst experience I’ve had at a tanning salon. I got a spray tan off of groupon and made an appointment a week in advance. I do not live close to this salon but work around the corner. The woman on the phone informed me that the only time they had available was at 9:30pm the following Wednesday. Although I would have to stick around West Caldwell for 4 ½ hours after work waiting, I was willing to do it. I arrived at 9:15pm and waited 10 minutes to be greeted. The very nice front desk person finally asked for my information and what service I wanted. Upon telling her I had a groupon for an airbrush she informed me that I had to make an appointment. I conveyed to her that I made an appointment a week in advance for 9:30pm today. She showed no record of it. After leaving the salon I called back an hour later trying to make an appointment for the following day. She took down my information and was going to have her manager call me first thing in the morning. By 12pm the next day when I had not heard from them I made a call. The woman that answered the phone informed me that her manager was in the office and she would call me back. After 20 minutes the woman I spoke with earlier called me back saying her manager could not spray me that day. Was it really THAT hard for the manager to show some class and pick up the phone and call me herself? Completely appalled by this interaction with Beach Bum altogether. I have received a refund from Groupon and will NOT be returning to this location or for that matter a Beach Bum ever again. On the plus side EuroTans in Clifton, NJ is EXCELLENT at spray tanning. I recommend trying them :)

I went today around 4, Michelle was so busy on the phone telling someone about her mother and sisters incident with the snow and the road conditions I just stood in front of her for three minutes or more visibly irritated. I ultimately left, even as I approached the door she nvr acknowledge me. It was apparent that she didn’t want to work, she was negotiating how early she should close by the time I left.

I went for my first ever tan during their $ 1 tan special because I figured it was a good time to see if I’d like it before I went and spent a ton of money on a membership somewhere. The girl handed me a packet of lotion and walked me to my room. She didn’t show me how to use the machine(trust me, that thing was complex) despite me telling her i have never used a tanning bed in my life. So I slathered myself in the lotion and stepped inside, spent 5min pushing buttons until the lights came on and it started working. When it turned off and I stepped out I felt like a grease ball because of the lotion, and it also stunk like fake tan really bad. When I got dressed and went back up front to pay, I was surprised because my total was almost $ 20. I thought it was a mistake so I reminded the girl that I was doing the $ 1 tanning and she says«oh yeah i know, this is including the lotion.» what??? here i am thinking this tiny sample pouch of lotion is free, and i come to find out it’s $ 19?! had i known, i obviously wouldn’t have used it. maybe you should tell someone how much something costs before you force it on them and surprise them with the fee when it’s too late. needless to say, i’m not coming back.
