This place looks outdated and a little weird. But it’s a great spot if you want some bone sticking good food. Their breakfast specials are awesome and the staff is great too.

Forever a Jersey classic. If you’re in a rush this is the place for you, food always comes out as if it’s trying to win a prize on a game show. Been consistently good for as long as I can remember never left this place wishing I had gone somewhere else. The big freestanding diners have nothing on this place, make sure you go out of your way to stop at this classic store front diner, you won’t regret it. The staff is as awesome as the food, they never leave you hanging. If you want to get away from the family, go there by yourself go in the back and grab one of many new York and New Jersey papers, sit at the counter and forget what’s going on outside the huge windows. Love this place and always will.

Stopped in a few years back. Only 2 customers and no atmosphere. Appearance hasn’t changed since. Food was ok at best. Maybe it’s improved.

This is your classic nj diner. Iv been coming to this haunt for years upon years. A caldwell native spot with great food and really good coffee. The staff is very attentive. I usually go with the California burger with hash browns and a coffee. My friend Al always gets the Hungry man and loves it. Iv had their omelets as well, and they are realllllyyyyy good! Great portions and flavor.

The workers are very friendly and efficient. The food is outstanding and reasonably priced. The beef Gyro is the best I have had in New Jersey. Definitely recommend a visit if you are looking for great food and great service.

I’ve been going to the Train Diner for many years. This is the neighborhood diner, that every neighborhood used to have. The employees haven’t changed thru the years, and either has their food. All portions are great sized, and the food is always perfect!
The employees may not remember your name? But they will remember your face and are always friendly. Don’t pass the Train Diner without giving it a try. The last of good old Americana!

A friend recommended I go here and try the Train Burger. It was decent, came out quick and was exactly what I’d expect of a diner. Good onion rings, too.

I do not understand the positive reviews for this place. I would hardly call it a diner. It’s more like a luncheonette with diner prices. The servings are smaller than diner servings. If I’m going to pay diner prices I’ll go to the diner and at least have leftovers.

Solid diner. Breakfast is always good, fast and cheap. Normally you only get 2 of those 3. Other diners are closer but it’s worth the extra couple minute drive.

From the outside you would not know that this place is a gem. My family and I discovered this place a little over a year now as we were new to caldwell and did not like the caldwell diner or the pancake house or it the others on 46. The staff is always friendly food has not yet disappoint. Great menu Very very friendly staff.

As a Greek, I can attest that this is a fantastic diner. The service is fast and friendly and the food comes out hot and delicious. I personally love the grilled portabello wraps, the steak, chicken parmesan, mykonos salad, and the matzos ball soup. Oh, also the eggs florentine are phenomenal.

For a diner, it fits what’s expected! Nothing out of the ordinary, but nothing bad to report either.

Nice menu, good food, friendly and fast service. It’s a solid go to place when you want a quick home cooked meal.

Its a diner and it is OK… this was a lack of choice at the time. a bad lack of choice. I had a turkey club… processed. not so good… my bad…

Diners to me are supposed to be quick service and good all around food for a good price, The train Diner delivers on both, This place has become my go to Diner on Saturday morning, there is never a wait, and the food is quick but still good. On top of all this I am always happy when the bill comes, never over priced.

This place’s reputation is that it’s an old folks’ hangout. This is actually quite true, but don’t let that scare you off. The food is homemade and very, very good. They make a great steak sandwich, and their seafood offerings are fresh and well-​executed. As diners go, this place gives you a good bang for your buck.
