We were looking for a place to dine while on vacation, my daughter and I happened to find Sapore both at the same time on our iPhones and we felt it was the place to go. I called to make a reservation from sitting on the beach and was pleasantly greeted and the reservation was made. We arrived and were seated and the experience was like being transported to Italy in a split second. I have never eaten such well prepared Italian food out until now. We highly recommend the seafood risotto w red sauce and Capellini Positano as well. Everything was amazing as well as the attentive waitstaff. Definately EATHERE! Buon Appetito and BYOB oh and during the warmer my months ask to sit on the porch it’s beautiful!

Absolutely delicious! Servicing size was a little small for my husband but perfect for me. I normally always take home food. I was able to finish my meal here. I would recommend getting an appetizer to be completely full. This restaurant is described as a casual place but it is pretty intimate. Table is candle lit with a white table cloth. I would recommend bringing children who are well behaved, it is pretty quiet in the restaurant.

My experience at Sapora started off horrible. To begin the bread we were served before our meal was like burnt toast. It wasn’t even Italian bread! it took a very long time to get our water refilled and we had to ask, witch wasn’t a big deal, but I feel it was worth noting. Our service was not top notch. In the end though none of that really mattered. We were offered complimentary wine, and anti-pasta(witch was good). This is something you rarely see in restaurants today especially ones as affordable as Sapora. Our bill came to just under $ 25 a person. They also gladly welcome BYOB, witch is very notable considering how much money you can spend on wine at a restaurant. I would have given a rating of 3 stars based on my experience if it wasn’t for these factors. I really like what Sapora is trying to do, and I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. Now for my entre I ordered Spaghetti Caprice. I have never ordered this exact dish before, but it is very similar to spaghetti with marinara sauce. The only exception is fresh basil and mozzarella. It was very good, being an italian I eat marinara sauce quite often so I say this with some insight.

We’ve been going to Cape May for several years and decided to try this restaurant because we saw the ratings on Unilocal. It’s a cute place, décor was a little old but it’s in a Victorian house so it’s appropriate for where it’s located. When we got there the hostess wasn’t very friendly at all. The service was good, his name was Alex. We don’t have any complaints about him at all. They gave a complimentary cold antipasto which was delicious. The bread they put on the table is horrible, it looks and tastes like old toast. That is probably the only complaint I have about the food though. We got a special for an appetizer which was stuffed mushrooms with crab meat in white sauce. The Cesar salads were good but they put grated cheese instead of shaved cheese. I got the linguini in white clam sauce which was delicious and my husband got chicken Parmesan. He said it was one of the best he’s had, the chicken was very tender.

We saved Saturday night in town for our«nice» dinner out. After hearing all the hype about this place and seeing pictures of fresh tomato caprese on their ads, I was dying to go. They were booked solid, so we took a reservation for 5:15& sat on their lovely patio. We were given a prix fixe menu for restaurant week. I asked if this was the only menu available and was told yes by our server. Choices were very limited and I was bummed. But I figured it would be delicious and ordered. Appetizer was Caesar salad, 2nd course was a plate of different pastas, which were delicious and I had chicken Parmesan for my entrée, because nothing else on the prix fixe appealed to me. It was all fine. But everyone around us got the regular menu upon request. We’re seeing calamari, fettuccine Alfredo, risotto, antipasto platters. Everything we really came for and were told we couldn’t have. I have worked in restaurants, including fine-dining in big cities, almost my entire adult life. I never EVER complain. I almost asked for a manager to complain about our experience, something my husband has never seen me do in the 6 years we have been together. I am the most forgiving, understanding, grateful person to wait on. This restaurant has Big Fish in a Little Pond syndrome. It’s good, but it’s not that good. Pissed. A) would have been nice to know I would have a choice of only 5 entrees when I made a reservation. B) stop trying to take my plate while I’m still eating. C) not one person said goodnight or asked how our meal was on the way out. D) classless, uppity locals sitting beside us and critiqued the appearance of every single person(mostly women) that walked by. Not the restaurants fault but these Big Fish Small Pond people got their asses kissed by every employee in there. Not a pleasant dining experience.

When we went last year, the food and service was great. This year, we made a reservation a few days ago, arrived at restaurant, had to wait 30 mins past our reservation time. Finally sat at the table only to be told it’s restaurant week menu. They never told us this when we made the reservation. Restaurant Week menu was overpriced. Waiter was nice. Offered us some items off the regular menu but it was very limited so we left.

So glad we found this place. We’re very happy with the food and service. The Restaurant Week menu is good. The place is in an old Victorian that looks great. Try the mussels in red sauce and the home made gnocchi. Both are outrageously good. The entrees were expertly done. The tilapia franchese was cooked just right.

We found Sapore by accident. We decided to give it a try. It was fantastic. Our servers name was Dominick, who was very knowledgeable and made some suggestions. The atmosphere was great as well as the food was outstanding. Sapore will definitely be on our list when we come back in the fall.

Best Italian meal in Cape May! Specials are exactly that– I had the veal with crab, spinach, caper, etc– homemade tiramisu for dessert– and a free antipasto appetizer to start– service is outstanding and I’m in the business– so I know good service. This place is off the beach– but you will find the locals in this hidden gem– a must go!

Found Sapore searching for an Italian restaurant in Cape May. What a find!!! Beautiful restaurant with excellent staff. Our waitress Jennifer was fantastic and the rest of the staff were very attentive as well. Two of us had the veal saltibuca, which was excellent. The bread, served with a gratis antipasto, were both excellent I highly recommend Sapore. BYOB is a plus.

Not very accommodating to our needs. We are both handicap and asked to sit in front of the house. Instead we got a table on the very cold back of the house. The hostess was not at all accommodating. Even though we passed two two tops on our way back. Our first course was great. My second course Lamb was a hot mess. It was smothered in what was suppose to be a rich denied glaze was horrible brown GRAVY. Like out of a can. It covered everything. Beautiful grilled asparagus mushroom and peppers it covered everything. I couldn’t eat it. I sent it back and settled for pasta puttanesca

Spent the week in Cape May and after trying out a lot of overrated and overpriced restaurants — we had our last dinner at Sapore. We all wish we would have gone here first! 5 star all the way. Our waiter Alex was excellent. Very nice and personable. The booze? BYOB. Always a major plus for me when I’m able to buy a bottle of wine for $ 25 that restaurants would charge $ 75-$ 100 for. My only minor knock was in the appetizers. One of the appetizers we ordered was the bruschetta and the bread was very soft. I prefer a harder bread so that everything on top doesnt just soak into the bread. Again it’s my only knock and the bruschetta was still very good. We had a big table and we ordered the soup, the house salad, and the eggplant rolantini. All of it was splendid. We also got a complimentary cold anti-past. Not sure what we did or if they gave it to everybody but it was excellent! For the main course I had the Penne Alla Scampi. It was awesome. My wife had the Linguini Fried Diabla which she said was awesome. I don’t remember what the rest had but everybody was extremely satisfied. Mind you, I was with a table full of Italians from North Jersey where great Italian food is the standard. Everybody loved their meals. We even stuck around for desert. I got this Gelato and Lemoncello dish which was excellent. My brother in law got the Tiramisu which he devoured. The espresso and cappuccinos were great as well. This is the only place in town that we tried that we would suggest people try out. VERY affordable as well. We also sat outside on the front porch and dined. Great setting. MAKERESERVATIONS!

This is by far the cheapest and BEST Italian food you’ll find in Cape May. I’ve been to every Italian restaurant over the years, paid $ 20+ for pasta that I could’ve made myself, but not anymore. The menu here is huge and has all of the Italian staples for a decent price. There’s really nothing more to say, just go here if you want to eat Italian and not break the bank!
