I guess West Chester isn’t the busiest place but I was still surprised that there were not more reviews for Sarcone’s before my visit in May. Sarcone’s is not very big inside, clearly this is a take-out only establishment. Staff was friendly and helpful, answering the many questions my friend and I had about the different meats and sandwiches. We both ended up getting the Old Fashioned Italian. The sandwiches were tasty and large, just what I wanted. We made the mistake of trying to eat outside at one of the tables provided but it was too windy(though we still sat there and ate half our hoagies before deciding to find shelter). Unfortunately we were just passing through the area and not headed home which meant eating in the car. Not the easiest thing to do with all the meat and condiments overflowing from the delicious bread… but somehow we succeeded. If you’re a local or just passing through, Sarcone’s is a great deal for a great meal. I’m not sure where they would be able to put it, but a small dining area would be a nice addition.

two words: junkyard special. it’s a sandwich of contrasts. first, you have a nice sweet turkey, followed by a smoky prosciutto. you also have some extra sharp provolone countered aith some fresh mozz. add some spinach and roasted red peppers, then put it all in their signature roll, and you have my all-time favorite sandwich. i love this place and am a customer for life.

So lets cut to the chase. Everyone knows the deal with name Sarcones. Excellent rolls. So here we have a franchise that gets the authentic rolls and trys their hand at making hoagies in Chester County. The verdict? I’m going to say average at best. Here we have a deli that uses excellent ingredients but doesn’t know who to put them together. It sounds kind of funny but its actually true. Even the review prior to mine the guy says«The roll is good but the fillings just didn’t come together». That statement sums up Sarcones Deli. They spend so much money of buying these rolls from South Philly that they forgot the most important part which is actually that meat. They don’t know how to properly slice meat for their hoagies. Unfortunately Primo’s closed up in town which was far superior. If Primo’s couldn’t survive I have a feeling Sarcones will be gone as well once the initial buzz about the place wears off.

I realize I have already posted one review, but Sarcones is so impressive I had to write another one. My family and I were in West Chester for the Bike Race in West Chester 2 weekends ago. Had 3 tremendous sandwiches(even my 7-year old loved it). We were able to sit outside with other folks and just enjoy the day(and food). Then we were lucky enough to have the owner(Justin) sit down at another table and talk to us, ask how things were, ask us what they could do to improve our experience(NOTHING), and just chat about the race and West Chester. Justin was very complimentary to other hoagie places without speaking badly of them(very impressed by that level of integrity). We even commented on the cleanliness of the store and he spoke about being very particular about that(and it is quite evident). Simply stated, just go and enjoy, because it is enjoyable. I have had a decade plus allegiance to Primo Hoagies and am very loyal to establishments when I find them. I will not speak badly of Primo Hoagies, but in a few trips to Sarcones, I have a new allegiance. I have 2 Primo Hoagies within 2 – 3 miles of our house, but will go into West Chester any time I want a «hoagie» and not just a sandwich. Hoagie is the bread, the cheese, the meat, the toppings, and the experience. Sarcones has all of these. Primo Hoagies is a «sandwich shop» with very good hoagies… Sarcones is a «hoagie joint.» Justin, keep up the excellent work. Kudos to you and all your employees who have been nothing but exceptional. And please don’t let other reviews frustrate you… my feeling is that anyone can have a bad experience, but that does not make a place bad. For those nay-saying opinions, all I can suggest is go again, trust me.

Very friendly counter service and great hoagies on the bread we all love. It would be nice if the waiting area was a little larger; hopefully they’ll be able to expand at some point.

Walked in thinking I could buy loaves, or rolls or rings like in the Italian Market… NOT. They said they barely had enough bread to make hoagies. So, call ahead, because people in front of me were being turned away. They were just taking people that had put in orders. Can’t say how the food was since they were low on bread. Not sure why they have a bakery and yet their own deli runs out of bread by noon?
