I always order lomo saltado when I come here. The price is a bit pricey but the flavor is so good. I just wish they use better quality of beef because the beef always too hard and dry. Update: at another restaurant of them«Misky Misky», they use better meat and more expensive than this location.

This place is super yummy and a great price. After being introduced to this place by a worker we often pick up food from here for office functions. Everyone loves it and we never have any complaints. The chicken is super moist and flavorful even the chicken breast which can sometimes end up dry and plain. This place is always packed and the parking lot is tiny. I suggest ordering ahead and picking up your food. Make sure to get chimichurri and the spicy green sauce(not sure what it is called) even though the food doesn’t need the sauce it is a nice touch. Everyone that works there is really nice and helpful with the menu and always willing to give suggestions.

The place for rotisserie chicken. The leg and thy was moist and flavorful, the breast was a little more on the dry side. I like the pesto pasta with the carne asada. Definitely worth coming back. Place to come for no hassle fairly quick food.

I was in the area so I hit up my college buddy up for dinner and he suggested this hidden gem. The location was pretty easy to find but parking was quite the struggle. When we opened the door we were surrounded by the aroma of their rotisserie chicken. The seating was limited and the place was packed! Mr. Pollo is a casual Peruvian restaurant that specializes in chicken dishes. I would normally order pork or beef when I go out, but when at Mr. Pollo I knew chicken was the way to go. My friend and I shared a Chaufa De Pollo($ 9.49) which is like a Peruvian Chicken Fried Rice. The main ingredients were rice, eggs and chicken. Their chicken was moist and flavorful, I really enjoyed this dish. We also shared a large Chicha Morada($ 2.40) which is a special Peruvian beverage made by boiling purple corn with pineapple, cinnamon, cloves and sugar. This drink was so good! I didn’t want to share. Good thing my friend was smart and let me have most of it. Solid spot for casual Peruvian food. I actually enjoyed it a lot better than the fancy Peruvian spots I’ve been to. I will definitely come back to try out their Lomo Saltado. They can get a bit backed up in the kitchen, but they will have estimate wait times up when things get busy.

Peruvian food– a must go to when in Covina. It’s so good! It’s inexpensive for big portions– what more could you ask for? I never knew what Peruvian food tasted like until I had it. This place triggered my interest in more South American cuisine. You can tell this place is good because of the wait. Tip: Order for take out unless you want to wait at least 45 min. The wait is definitely worth it though. Try their Tallarin Verde. It’s seasoned beef skirt steak with green noodles. I’m not sure what kind of sauce that the spaghetti noodles are tossed in, but I know it is amazingly tasty. Tastes like garlic with chimichurri sauce, almost like pesto. [ extra chimichurri sauce available on the side counter] Fried plantains are also sweet little side. Drink: Passion fruit drink, made in house. SWEETANDFRUITY. Try it. It’s so good. Seating: Must wait & order first to be seated. It’s usually a long wait and they even tell you how long to anticipate waiting for via a sign inside. You can call in to ask how long the wait is. Parking: free parking lot in front Ambiance: casual and busy.

I have never tried Peruvian food until my BF brought me to this place. We were around the area and my BF has been raving about how delicious Peruvian food is, so we decided to come here. This is a super small restaurant more like a mom n pop shop. Honestly my first impression was not that positive because the restaurant looks really old and everyone seems to squeezed into this small area. During its busy hour, you will have to order from cashier and grab a number and wait to be seated. We ordered lomo saltado, Tallarin verde con bistek, and passion fruit fresca. It was my first time try lomo saltado and I gotta say damnnnn, what did I do for my past 28 years? How come I never try this delicious food like this before? This dish definitely gave me a jaw dropped moment. There is great portion of beef and they pan fried with red onion and fries. Everything was flavorful. You have to use their chimchurri sauce. I don’t know what was that made of but it has this great kick of garlic and parsley that goes so well with the dish. I had to keep going back to the sauce station to refill this sauce. Usually I hate saggy fries but I really enjoyed the fries here because it was mixing well with the sauce. The only downside is that beef is kinda overcooked so it was hard to swallow. I was also surprised how huge is Tallarin verde con bistek. It was basically huge steak with pesto pasta. The pasta was kind of bland but the steak was delicious. I had to put a lot of sauce for my pasta. This dish is so huge that you can even have enough leftover for next meal. I love their passion fruit fresca. It wasn’t too sour and does not taste artificial. Super refreshing drink. This experience definitely opened up my Peruvian food adventure. I would love to discover more Peruvian restaurants in the future!

Omg, soooo delicious. I love this place because of its portions, deliciousness, and great service! The dishes are about $ 10 and so filling. The steak is both tender and flavorful. If you choose to dine in, you will come out smelling like roasted chicken because there’s a huge rotisserie in the restaurant. My absolute favorite is their tallarin saltado which is a noodle dish with steak, onions, and tomato in an amazing savory sauce. If you’re not a spaghetti/noodle person and would prefer rice, their lomo saltado is great also. The lomo saltado has beef, onions, tomatoes, French fries and a side of savory rice. It’s amazing. They have their sauces out next by the register(make sure to grab some chimichurri) and if you’re not sure about what to drink, just ask for a sample! The must try drink is their passion fruit juice. Can’t say enough great things about Mr. Pollo and can’t wait to try their other items.

I work in West Covina and have been gone for a while due to me having my twins, well one of the main things I missed was MRPOLLO! The tallarin verde is so delicious and fulfilling! Great taste and definitely leave a mark on your taste buds that it makes you return time and time again to try What this small and wonderful place Has to offer! I missed you MRPOLLO! But I’m back!

What I’ve Tried — Lomo Saltado — Saltado de Pollo — Tallarin Verde Bisteck If I’m craving Peruvian food and I’m too lazy to drive, this will hit the spot. However, I would only order the Saltado de Pollo again. The beef for the Lomo Saltado was too chewy. The pasta for the Tallarin Verde Bisteck was unbearably cheesy. I love cheese so for me to feel disgusted, there has something wrong with the dish. Maybe I’m just not that big of a fan of parmesan. The Saltado de Pollo was really good! Of course I drowned it with the green sauce! ^_^ Super small hole in the wall so don’t expect anything fancy. This place does get crowded though so expect a little wait.

I came here for lunch around 11:45 am with a friend from work because she was craving Peruvian cuisine. They are located in the plaza(where Subway and Papa John’s is) on the northeast corner of N. Azusa Ave and Rowland Ave, across from the Norm’s. As soon as we entered, we saw that every single table was taken. A few people were sitting just to wait for their take out order. I ordered Combo #1 which is ¼ chicken with two sides. I chose a side salad and the sweet plantains. My total only came out to $ 5.49!(wow, can’t beat that!) With tax it came out to $ 5.99. My friend got the Saltado de Pollo(the dish with the fries). We found a table with two chairs, but seriously the tables are so cramped inside and we were sitting so close to the people next to us we might as well be sitting at the same table. We saw some people leave in the corner and took that table instead. I have to say… their water has a strong tap water taste so I wouldn’t bother asking for water again. The aji sauce was good and had a nice kick. My friend couldn’t finish her Saltado de Pollo and had to take the rest of it back to the office. Overall, we enjoyed our food, but the seating situation is a negative so I can see why people would recommend calling ahead or taking it to go. 38⁄100 Reviews for 2016

After having really good Peruvian at Señor Pollo, I still had a hankering for more Peruvian food, so I surfed Unilocal and immediately found this place on my drive home. I stopped by, thinking it would be a quick and easy food-to-go. That was a mistake. It took almost 25 minutes before I received my order. PROTIP: Call ahead. Also, POSSIBLY another mistake — do not travel 25 minutes before eating your to-go order. Another PROTIP: Dine-in. The Lomo Saltado fries though still warm, were already soggy. But I also found their meat chewy, and overall, the dish was salty. I wonder if the Pollo Saltado would be any better. I probably would not know, because I won’t be back anytime soon =(

Best place Peruvian rotisserie chicken. This place is always packed and last time, the wait was 40min for food… yea. cuz they’re just that busy. But the upside to the wait means fresh food. The chicken is always really. and i mean REALLY tender and flavorful. The dark green sauce on the counter is their chimichurri sauce, parsley, garlic, spices in oil… this sauce can make anything taste good! This goes so well with the chicken and rice. I always get the ¼ dark with half rice/half beans and plantains. So good! CLOSEDMONDAYS!

Heard about this Peruvian place twice this past weekend: First through JL and the other from Ch5’s Burrous’ Bites. Given that both have never steered me wrong, I figured I should try it at some point this week. Pretty, pretty, pretty good. The half chicken plate was very flavorful and came with two sides. Being that I placed my order to go, I probably shouldn’t have ordered the fries since they were soggy by the time I had a chance to chomp in. Live and learn. The salad would’ve been the better option. While the chicken was tasty, the standouts were the sauces. They had chimichurri, a zesty green, and a kicky red. My favorite was was the Tallarin Saltado de Pollo. It was a chicken noodle dish loaded with onions and tomatoes. Yum! I’d like to go back and try the steak and Tallarin Verde. Overall, tasty and worth a visit if you get a hankering for Peruvian in the SGV.

10.18.15: Peruvian food reallly??? I just have to try this and so we did. We had no idea what’s this place is all about, except that the reviews stated the food is super good. So I went with my family and when we got there we were like Oh shoot, it’s a hole in a wall with limited seating. Luckily there was only 4 of us but kind of 5 with the baby. It was super packed in there and we were afraid we would not get a seats so we decided to just order to go. While standing in line to order we noticed a sign that they will actually seat you after you order. Hmmm, what a great idea, because we don’t need to seated now since our food is not ready. Super efficient as most people here just eat and leave so no waiting for a table that has been done over an hour. Alright we changed our minds and decided to eat there. We ordered what they are known for which is their Lomo Saltado. It’s steak with fries, tomatoes and other stuff with sauce all over it, almost stewish. It was so different to me, it was delicious steak. However what I really liked more was their chicken. It was super juicy, tender, full of flavor that I couldn’t stop eating it. They have a sauce bar next to the register, definitely get the chimichurri(sp?) so so so good. I had a great time eating and people watching. Very interesting the types of people that eat here, there’s all kinds. A couple of people look like they were about to go clubbing after dinner, and some just look like they got out of bed with pj type clothes on. The service is straight forward, the lady at the cashier is okay, I wouldn’t say she’s super duper nice, straight to the point. So if you want her to explain something she maybe a bit impatient. Overall we all really enjoyed the food. Even my little cousin who is super duper picky. He loved the chicken too. Will return to check out their other dishes. YUMMY!

Pretty good for my first Peruvian food experience. We ordered a Whole Chicken, which came with two sides, and the famous Lomo Saltado! Everything we had was great. The chicken was salty in some areas, but was flavored so well and so juicy. I think the whole chicken meal was a good deal, although we could have tried other sides. We got plantains and fries, but I’m sure the other sides, like beans or rice, would have been better. The fries as a side and in the Lomo Saltado were not impressive. I like my fries thick and piping hot, and these fries reminds me of the soggy In n Out fries. The meat, onions and tomatoes in the Lomo Saltado were really yummy though! Overall, this was a good experience and a great deal($ 30 to feed 4 people!) but I will probably not come back again, as I know there are much better Peruvian places out there.

If you want cheap and affordable good tasting Peruvian food this is the place. Located in a small plaza next to subway. Parking is limited as it is shared with other restaurants in the same plaza. We came here 10 minutes after they opened at 11am on a Sunday. Closed on Mondays. Restaurant was empty and only one other couple was sat down. Menu is simple and has only few of their popular items. Order to dine in or take to go. But this place does get crowded and seats are limited because of the small place. Between the 4 of us we ordered the lomo saltado. Traditional Peruvian dish. Comes with side of rice. Beef cooked in tomatoes, red onions and fries. I personally don’t like this dish because of the fries. I like my fries dry and crush dipped in ketchup. But I’ll just eat all the meat in this dish. They actually don’t give you a lot of meat but this dish is very flavorful. We also ordered a whole chicken with 2 sides; fried plantains and fries. Fries were crispy and fresh. Not oily and salty at all. Plantains are fried perfect. I love their bananas and would not leave to order a side of fried plantains! The chicken is amazing! Very juicy and the skin is crispy! Dipped in the green sauce that’s self served is perfect! Even the chicken breast is not dry! Very good. Passion fruit juice is good and refreshing. Would come back to this place again if we are in the area again. I want to try the other items on the menu.

I pass this place everyday and finally decided to try it out. I looked up «most reviewed» restaurants and it came up. The parking is limited here and it’s a VERY small spot. Don’t let that scare you off though! We came on a Saturday night and it was constantly busy! Ok so the food was awesome! I got the lomo saldado. It had pieces of steak, tomatoes, and fries in this yummy sautéed goodness! We also got the something that looked like fried rice(just eh) and the grilled steak combo(again just eh). We were throughly impressed by the lomo! We also tried their two sides condiments. The light green one had a little kick to it. The dark green one has a good taste it. Give them Both a try! Ok so here’s what completely set me off. I needed to use the restroom and I had to walk through the kitchen! Ugh, I wish I hadn’t! It was such a nasty mess all over the floor! I couldn’t believe it! To make matters worse, when I went to the cashier to ask for a box for my leftovers, there was so much TRASH on the floor where the cook was at! I couldn’t believe it! It was all in plain sight! This made me take a star away. Please clean that up! I wouldn’t be surprised if an inspector came right then And given them a «C». Take care of that ASAP

My friend said I had to try this place… So we tried it and let me tell you what… It’s great! The rotisserie chicken is amazing. It’s juicy and flavorful. Sometimes rotisserie chicken can be dry, but this was deliciously moist the seasoning they use is wonderful and has a nice balance of saltiness and herbs to make your taste buds crave more. The rice, while it looks plain, is also seasoned and has a great flavor. Everyone in my party of 5 enjoyed their meals. The restaurant is a hole-in-the-wall, but don’t let that discourage you. Try the bright green salsa that looks like it should be served in a Mediterranean restaurant for even more added flavor(I didn’t care much for the red or avocado looking salsas-just not a lot there). We came around 11 am and by the time we were done there was a line out the door… It’s that good!

Thank you Mr. Pollo for your darn good chicken dishes! ‘Chaufa De Pollo’ and ‘Saltado de Pollo’ are my favorites from here. The chicken is juicy and cooked to perfection, and the portion sizes are very large and filling. I usually prefer the ‘Lomo Saltado’ at Peruvian restaurants but not so much here. I am not sure if I have just been unlucky and received dry, overcooked pieces of steak in my stir fry, or if the chicken dishes really are Mr. Pollo’s specialty. This teeny, tiny restaurant gets packed like sardines during its busiest hours. It is usually hot, stuffy and way too crowded for my liking. So, my recommendation is to call ahead your order and take the food to go. During peak dining hours, they say the order will be ready in about 25 – 30 minutes so there is no need to rush over. Warning* if you choose to dine in, do not come here hangry because the wait time is usually just as long! Don’t forget the green Aji sauce, usually located next to the cash register. This creamy sauce will add the perfect kick to complete your dish! I love me some good Peruvian food, I will definitely be back soon!
