I love the Tip Top Mart! If you’re looking for Indonesian ingredients, but don’t want to get too overwhelmed, this is the place to go. The first time I went I got some Ritz chocolate sprinkles(hagelslag), which my Dutch-Indonesian boyfriend told me about, but I’ve never tried. They are SO good! Get a piece of bread, spread some butter or peanut butter on it(I even tried it with Trader Joe’s cookie butter, which is a butter made out of dutch speculoos cookies. SOGOOD!) and top with the sprinkles! It’s super yummy and they melt in your mouth. None of that waxy crap you get from American ice cream sprinkles. They’re expensive, about $ 6 a can, but the can is quite large. The other time I went, I needed ingredients for bami goreng(fried egg noodles) so I easily found sambal oelek(a very spicy sauce/condiment) and trassi(dried shrimp paste). They oddly don’t carry noodles, but luckily it’s in the hong kong food district market, so just buy the Indonesian ingredients at the Tip Top Mart and buy the rest at the market. The staff is so friendly and very helpful! There were so many types of sambal and the woman working was so nice to help me find the best one. This is definitely my go-to place for Indonesian food items!

I go to Hongkong Plaza in West Covina whenever I crave for Indonesian food. There was«Indonesian Grocery» sign at the food court so I decided to check it out. I didn’t know this place was open months ago. They sell Indonesian grocery here. I noticed that it is cheaper than Sam’s Nutrition and Simpang Asia. The place is small but they carry the essentials. Stuff they sell: shrimp crackers, candy, instant noodle, coffee, butter, spices, medicines and baby stuff. They also have bandeng presto(frozen marinated fish similar to Filipino’s bangus), tempe(Indonesian soya bean cake), pete and jengkol. I even saw some Dutch items there. Credit cards are accepted.
