Actually my French cruller was superb and the coffee was also very good. But my friend got a sandwich with hash browns and they only gave him SIX lousy has browns! SIX! Cheap bastards.

My co-workers decided to have a pumpkin treat day at work today, and of course I forgot to buy something the night before…#fail :) So I decided to stop by the Dunkin Donuts on 8th street in West Des Moines. There is a drive thru lane but I thought it may be faster if I went inside, since there were several cars backed up. I ordered the Pumpkin flavored Munchkins(aka donut holes). I got 25 of them for $ 4.99. 50 Munchkins would have been $ 7.99. I also ordered a large coffee for $ 1.99. Both items were brought out to me quickly so going inside was the correct decision. The Munchkins didn’t look very appealing since it didn’t have the frosting covered all around. I’m not sure if this is how they’re supposed to be or not. They kind of looked a bit dull too. Looks aside, they are kind of tasty… a lot of pumpkin flavor and they were not dry, which surprised me. They’re the perfect size to pop in your mouth, but you can bite into them if you want to slow down your eating :) I just got a regular black coffee with cream, since I’m not a fan of fancy coffee drinks in the morning. It was between a light and dark roast, so it had enough coffee flavor. I did appreciate that the lid came with one of those tabs that prevents the coffee from being spilled. Sometimes at Starbucks I’ll forget the green stick thingys that covers the opening, which leads me to driving like an old man. I noticed that the reviews were very low, but I didn’t have any issues. The place was clean, donuts were all within eye sight, and the older lady was very polite to me when I ordered my items. I didn’t try their breakfast/lunch items, but i’m not going to expect 5 star dining if I do order a sandwich… that’s the same expectation when I go get something to eat at McDonald’s. Something fast that will satisfy my fast food craving… boom…done deal. I’ll stick to Starbucks when I get my morning coffee, but if I need to pick up some treats for work, Dunkin Donuts will be one of my considerations.

Why would you order anything but coffee from Dunkin? It’s seriously the best coffee Des Moines has to offer. If you want a milkshake, go get a frappuccino from Starbucks, this place actually serves coffee without the other BS. I honestly can’t believe there are issues with Dunkin Donuts. If you go at a prime time, it’s going to be busy. That’s a coffee shop. Even if it’s somewhat slow, this coffee is still the best. Also, I’ve noticed they sometimes hire people at this shop who initially have a difficult time speaking English and they seem to get better after only a few weeks. That is really awesome.

Coolata? Not too cool… Price: Well, it’s just donuts and coffee so you can look to spend about $ 2 for a cup of coffee. The M coolata was about $ 3 – 4. Parking: Lot. Easy Peasy. Service: The lady behind the counter was no where in sight. I stood there for a minute, then was saying helloooooo hellooooo for another 2 minutes. It took one of her friends(?) who was watching me to go in and ask her to come out. ALTHOUGH, I did had a problem with my drink and she did try to fix it. The drink still sucked though. Food & Drinks: I can only speak for the Coolata. It was gross. It was way too sweet. I asked the lady to pour out some and add some coffee(+1) which she did, I think. It was still GROSSLY sweet though. Notes: I’ve had black coffee at dunkin’ before and it wasn’t THAT bad… Overall: I def am not coming back.

The Judge does not approve of DD… First…This is a donut shop, right Citizen? A donut shop should have donuts available for customers to purchase, right Citizen? The Judge has been to this store on several occasions and they have NOT had the donuts the Judge wanted from their menu. The Judge was one time told… «You should come earlier in the day if I wanted those kind.» This was 2 hours before close time… I see lots of items on the menu that are not donuts at all. Stick to what you know Dunkin’ When the Judge finally did get to try what he wanted to buy from DD. He was very disappointed… they have a funny texture with the oil they use. They are not tender and soft on the inside like they should be… odd…This Cop loves his donuts! But not if they are from Dunkin’ Update: The Judge has gave DD several tries. No impovements… JUDGEMENT: Judge Dredd does not approve of Dunkin’… Go to Donut Hut or Krispy Kreme. But if you wish be the Judge yourself. Go try DD… But do not say you were not warned…

Awful. First problem is the store design. It’s called Dunkin Donuts. And yet when I came in, you can’t even see the Donuts. Why wouldn’t you out a large glass display that makes it easy to see the delicious choices? I had to pick my dozen from a half empty shelf behind the surly staff. When the woman, who seemed like she was the manager, wiped her gloved hand on her nose, I should’ve walked out. They were out of almost everything. I tried to order a frozen coffee, the manager told me the machine was broken. She added that it had been broken for over a week. Thanks? To top if off, the donuts sucked. Thanks for nothing!

So I heard this week was free coffee week. I went yesterday, walked inside and the line was about 5 deep. One person working the counter and busy people behind the counter. One moody breakfast sandwich guy on the side. They were plenty staffed but possibly should have had more people. However today I walked in and it was 6 deep, less people behind the counter and no one stepped up to help. Two registers and only one open both days with free coffee going out the door, probably could have had better planning. The wait was about 15min & the line doubled while I stood there. The moody sandwich guy was there again and stepped up, did one customer and disappeared again. Not the only DD that needs to re-think their staffing.

Is this place even open? I stopped by yesterday and sat at the drive-thru for 2 minutes. Was never greeted. I drove down the street to get my coffee from a different coffee place.

First upon visiting I feel in love. One of my favorite place to get a quick breakfast! Their flat bread veggie breakfast sandwich and their donuts are excellent, and their coffee is one of the best!

This Dunkin Donuts is new, clean and typically has ok service, but every time I have gone here except one time, they don’t have half their menu. They are consistently out of almost every donut they sell. Today I went at 1pm and they only had a few kinds left. It’s almost comical. I understand 1 star may be harsh, but if you don’t even sell what’s advertised what’s the point?

For a franchise that theoretically has controls and standards, this location has major issues. They do not know how to make Coolatas and frozen coffees(their mixes are routinely way off), their coffees are not calibrated well, and if you get there first thing in the morning, you’re likely to get a stale donut from yesterday. Worst of all, they are so slow that it’s too risky to go there in the morning because even with a short line, you can easily end up waiting ten minutes. I’ve waited to post this, as they were new and I hoped they’d get their act together, but it’s been over six months with no improvement, which is inexcusable.

I LOVE toasted coconut doughnuts, and the ones at Dunkin’ Donuts did not disappoint. Also tried the chocolate mint hot chocolate. I don’t do donuts or pastries very often, but when the mood hits for a coconut donut, I’ll definitely go back for one of these perfect circles of cakey coconut yumminess.

Finally a Dunkin Donuts has made it to the Des Moines IA area! I’ve visited a lot of Dunkin Donuts and this one compared to the others is okay. I ordered an iced caramel ice coffee. I did not taste any of the caramel. It tasted like a regular iced coffee to me. I should have guessed that it would taste like that when she called my drink«a caramel swirl iced coffee» before handing it to me. I also noticed that their chocolate long johns looked really messy and unappetizing. Most Dunkin Donuts have them where the chocolate topping is a nice organized thick layer of chocolate glaze on top. The chocolate long johns here looked like the topping was squeezed out of a tube and spread on messily. The topping was inconsistent throughout the donut and it looked bad. The service was fast and nice. I was surprised at how many employees were working here. Most Dunkin Donuts in Chicago downtown area have 2 – 4 employees. This store had about 6 – 8 employees. This shop is new and I’m hoping they will fix their mistakes soon. I’ll have to visit them again to do another review.
