I’m sorry to say the food wasn’t that great. We ordered the authentic tacos. They sounded good and looked good in the photos. They are the little 5– or 6″ tacos that are $ 2 each. We each got three. I got steak and chicken and my husband got steak, chicken and chorizo. The steak was pretty good but dry. The chicken was also dry, but didn’t have much flavor because it wasn’t marinated or seasoned. My husband said that his taco meats were also dry and his chorizo didn’t have much flavor either. I didn’t know if the meat was overcooked or just old, but they could have been better. The only bright spot was the chips and salsa. I usually like my salsa finely blended like the way most Mexican restaurants serve it, but theirs was chunky and had good flavor. They also served beans with their salsa that was pretty good. That was pretty different and I’ve never seen that before. Our dining experience was further spoiled by a loud and belligerent Hispanic man in the booth next to us. He was yelling Spanish on the phone to someone the whole time we were in the restaurant. He was obviously drunk. We were surprised none of the management in the restaurant said anything to him about his loudness and rudeness. We just wanted to eat and get out of there. The atmosphere in the place wasn’t very cozy or welcoming and we won’t be back. We have a feeling this restaurant won’t be here very long. This location seems to be the kiss of death for every restaurant that has been here so far.

We visited tonight, for the first time. The service was friendly and excellent timing. The food was phenomenal. I had the combination plate with chili releno and chicken enchilada. My beau, had the burrito, which was also excellent. We will be back. Jill and Bob.

Delicious food here! The margaritas were a little too sweet, but they definitely know their Mexican food. I always try the tacos asada first when deciding whether or not I’m going to enjoy a Mexican restaurant — and the tacos I had tonight we’re just amazing. Can’t wait to come back and try something else!

I am from Texas so I know my Mexican. This place is not bad at all and the service is great. $ 1.99 margaritas on Thursday!

Absolutely terrible experience tonight. We were seated and promptly forgotten. There were only 5 other people in the place, who were also being forgotten. They might want to evaluate who their staff was on 16 October and reconsider their employment. They appear to not be able to keep up with 3 tables…

Just left Tacos Andreas. Customers expect a good experience at a restaurant. It’s normal. A bad experience leaves an impression because it’s out of the ordinary. My experience at Tacos Andreas in West Des Moines was not pleasant. First thing. They were out of steak tonight. On fajita night. Weird. I wonder who dropped the ball on that one? Instead, I ordered what Tacos Andreas calls«carnitas.» Roughly half of the meat that was served on my plate was fat. Inexcusable. My drink, which was supposed to be brewed ice tea was so diluted it was practically reduced to a weird tasting water. The carnitas I ordered were supposed to come with guacamole, I literally got half a teaspoon. My last issue. There were fruit flies buzzing all around the first table where we were originally seated, then fruit flies buzzed at the second table. I brought this to the attention of our server, who by the way, was only around to take our initial order. I had to flag our server down for anything else. I asked and received the guacamole I should have got in the beginning, and more pork to replace the fat. All in all, I won’t be back here at all. The fruit flies was the worst part. There has to be a lot of other restaurants in the Des Moines area with better health and sanitation standards. If there were fruit flies buzzing in the dining area on my visit, just imagine what’s in the back. Tacos Andreas in West Des Moines deserves one star, if that.

Good food, good service, large portions, and good prices. Had lunch there and will go back. It was a nice meal and the atmosphere allowed for discussion over lunch. Enjoyable!

I have been searching for good Mexican in Des Moines for months. Finally found this place, where you don’t automatically get everything with«taco meat»(yuck!) and cheese sauce(double yuck)! Try their tacos with steak(forget«taco meat»!!!), fish tacos or sopes. Great bean dip, too. And ask for the green salsa if you like spicy food. The only reason I can’t give it 5 stars is because I compare everything to Mexican food in California… #spoiled
