The«owner» or whatever he is, is obviously very knowledgeable about shoes and running. He started off by helping my husband pick a shoe that fit his foot and his walking/running style. Very appreciative of that and any advice he gave us. We told him we weren’t looking to spend $ 100-$ 150 on shoes at this time, not in the budget but wanted to see what he had for clearance. Of course, that’s not always easy to find in a size 13. However, he has a way of throwing out insults without sounding like he is actually insulting you. He talks too much and doesn’t really care what you have to say. The past 2 times I have been there, he has completely disregarded anything we said to him and if you weren’t interested in getting the expensive shoes, «you could just walk over to Walmart and buy a $ 40 pair of shoes.» Common sense says, more expensive shoes will last last longer. DUH, I don’t need this guy telling me that. Won’t be doing business with him again.

I had a great experience at the Running Room. They asked me lots of questions to first understand what it was that I was needing. I tried on multiple pairs of shoes that ranged from around $ 90-$ 140. They were not at all pressuring to have me purchase the $ 140 pair. They really listened to my needs and got me the perfect pair. I couldn’t be happier with the pair I purchased. They also had a good selection of sale items too. Only downfall is that only one person was working and there were a few people in the store so the worker ended up bouncing in between the customers.

For a great selection of running shoes, apparel, and gear in Des Moines this is definitely not the place. Poor selection of everything including sizes. I went to use a groupon and won’t be back.
