Enjoyed a nice evening here. Very quaint ambiance where you feel like you are stepping back in time. Veal dijonaise was probably the only negative as i didnt think it had much flavor. The vermonter was the highlight and it is something I would come back for. Also we ordered some fish(forget which fish) special and it was perfectly cooked. The place is a little pricey but overall a great experience.

Two Tannery is perfect for an excellent meal, super friendly service and pretty setting. Also a bit of history… the bar is part of the original Waldorf-Astoria. Worth it!

Had a great meal @ 2 Tannery last night. Service was great. Food better and Will makes great Martini’s. Get the duck, best I ever had. Sat right next to the fire place. Go there and have fun.

We always make a special night of eating at Two Tannery. Definitely one of the best restaurants in West Dover. Located in a historic house with original structures including windows and wide plank floors. Sit near the fire place for a perfect dinner. The Nutty Vermonter is one of my favorites.

Excellent meal and service. Save room for coffee toffee pie, mud pie or peanut butter ice cream. Nice wine list.

Went here for the first time a few nights ago — we’ve been vacationing in the area for the last 3 years. The food was very good and everyone — except the host — was very friendly. The host: here’s what I have to say about him, «Dear Owners of Two Tannery Road, do not put a surly, poor-attitude person at the front — EVER.» It didn’t ruin our meal but it definitely made an impression. Why would you even work as a host if you don’t like it? This guy could not have conveyed a more negative vibe. I will definitely be back — there were several things on the menu that looked interesting and I liked the architecture and history of the space.

I had the Nutty Vermonter. Always a favorite. Great food in a quiet environment. Terrific desserts. I make sure to come in for dinner when I am in the area.

Disappointing. Food was average, certainly not meriting the menu prices. We had PEI muscles, tilapia special, and veal. Fish had almost no flavor. We were there on a slowish Wednesday night and it was so quiet in the dining room that you could hear each conversation at the other tables. Background music would help. Other reviews mention the fireplace… and we love a dinner by the fireplace and requested it in the reservation. Although it was a cold evening, in ski season, neither fireplace was used.

A 20+ year customer of Two Tannery Road here… Well actually, ex-customer. I have been eating at two tannery all my life. I remember Karen, the previous owner, who truly cared about carrying on the legacy of great food, friendly service, and a great atmosphere. The duck, the apple cake with caramel sauce, everything was heavenly. Unfortunately, a number of years ago, a new owner bought the business, and slowly, the quality of the food, and the service or «atmosphere» in the restaurant has gone downhill. My experience this past weekend however, sealed the deal. Neither I, nor my «family» or friends will EVER give them another dollar. Let me explain: Given the busy holiday weekend, we were only able to get a reservation for 9:30 pm, on Saturday night which was fine with us. Prior to leaving for the restaurant, we had some trouble getting our child to go to sleep. As a result, we arrived 10 minutes late for our reservation. My wife and sister went in ahead of us and the owner of the restaurant was INCREDIBLY rude to them, even though they explained why we were a bit late. He told them we were 15 minutes late, not 10, in fact, he even whipped out his phone and shoved it in their faces, and told them he «told the chef to wrap up!»(despite the fact that the restaurant was packed) Now why would an owner of a restaurant take a 9:30 pm reservation and tell the chef he could leave? Every restaurant I have ever been to will hold a reservation for 15 minutes without a single problem. While the waitress tried to calm everyone down, unfortunately, we didn’t want a pissed off chef cooking our food(call me crazy), nor did we want to give our money to someone who was so outrageously rude to two ladies and good customers, so we decided to leave. Now while most owners would come over, apologize, and try to calm the situation, this guy did no such thing. He simply could care less if we stayed(and had a resulting $ 200+ bill), or not. Pathological if you ask me. I have never met a restaurant owner who would turn away business, especially a long time customer! On our way out, we stopped to talk to the owner. This restaurant is dear to our family and we were so incredibly hurt by the entire experience. Unfortunately, he could not have given a damn, in fact he told us to leave! He was so rude and obnoxious to us(after being rude for years mind you, which we overlooked, until that night), and seemed happy to lose our business. I promise anyone thinking of going there for dinner, there are other amazing fine dining restaurants in the area, like the Hermitage Inn(where we went instead, and were treated like kings), or The Anchor, or frankly, anywhere else in the valley where you will get better service and food. We are saddened by our experience and gross mistreatment of the entire situation.

I went here this past weekend and it was decent. I think its a good option for more upscale dining in this area. It’s probably best to make a reservation, we went on a Friday night and it was fairly busy so we were happy to have a reservation. The service was very good. We ordered the mussels which were a special for the appetizer. They came in a clear garlic broth and they were delicious. I ordered the Nutty Vermonter for my entrée, it was good for a comfort food type dish. Well cooked tasted great, and it was good size portion. The sides were not very good though, all dishes come with the same sides. That night it was carrots and long grain rice. I think the carrots might have been frozen, not fresh and the sides lacked flavor. The ambiance in here is great, very old building, the fire places were lit, so it was a nice atmosphere. Two of the people I was with ordered fish, and I’ve heard the fish is regularly very good here. They were both pleased with their dinners. The desserts were very good as well. I give this a 3 instead of a 4 because the sides were not good and I think its overpriced for what you get. Most things should be priced a couple dollars lower. I would go back though, next time I will try one of the fish dishes.

I visited Two Tannery Road for a New Year’s Eve celebration with a friend. While they didn’t have their normal full featured menu, they did have a Prix Fixe NYE menu featuring some pretty good courses. Of course they still served their fresh baked bread with the evening’s meal. We ordered the PEI mussels, and the ravioli to start with, had a mixed baby green salad, and for our entrees, had the beef tenderloin and the stuffed shrimp and finished it off with their delicious chocolate oblivian torte. The atmosphere was great! We had our reservation for 6:00 and were fortunate enough to be seated next to the fireplace. Service was impeccable. We arrived a bit early and had a few drinks at the bar and everyone that we met from the host, to the bar tender to our waitress, was great to talk with.

This is by far the best restaurant in the West Dover area, plain and simple. We have a home in the area, and have been able to try many other restaurants here. Two Tannery always exceeds out expectations, and doesn’t fail to impress. The décor is lovely– upscale country, in a structure from the 1700s with ties to Teddy Roosevelt(you’ll find memorabilia scattered throughout the restaurant.) The tables are widely spaced, and the noise level is muted. The service was great– very attentive without being obtrusive. But of course the real star is the food. We went most recently for New Years’ Eve with some friends and all seven of us had a great meal. I had mussels in a white wine sauce which was so good I needed more bread to dunk in the sauce, and the mussels were perfectly fresh. Others had lobster and corn bisque which was very tasty. Entrees at our table included perfectly medium rare lamb chops, panko encrusted red snapper and stuffed shrimp. A salad course of mixed greens with goat cheese and cranberries was perfectly dressed. Dessert was«chocolate oblivion” — fantastic! Honestly I just had to post this review because I was that pleased with our meal. Can’t recommend Two Tannery highly enough!

A group of five of us went to this restaurant without a reservation, and we were accommodated, but very brusquely. The maître d’ was surly, and when we tried to make conversation by saying that the weekend was busy with«tough mudders,» he said that«wasn’t their clientele.» However, two people in the restaurant were wearing t-shirts that said«tough mudder.» Also, the maître d’ didn’t respond when we referred to a local person whom we knew he knew. We felt that there was an unpleasant arrogance about the place, even though the food was good. There are many other restaurants in the area that are much friendlier. We happen to have a vacation home that we’ve lived in for 40 years. We go out to dinner a good deal but won’t go back to Two Tannery Road

Enjoyable place in a comfortable setting. Great if you want a more upscale option when you’re in the area. The interior here is well spaced, service was by a team of sweet of middle aged or older women, and the bar is historic… just located in a separate room from the dining area, so best for pre or post dinner drinks. Had bruschetta to start. A hunk of break with big artichokes, SLICES of tomato, peppers etc. on top. I’m used to it chopped, but maybe that’s the style here. It was OK. Came into here telling myself to lay off the Vermont cheese(since I’d eaten so much early in the day. So I ordered the Nutty Vermonter. LOADED with cheese, bit ol’ hunk of chicken and ham inside. A cordon bleu with nuts on top. Crazy big and filling. Seemed like all area places were a bit over-the-top like this. But solid, nothing spectacular. Found the wine list to be really nice actually. Reasonably prices. The Château Pipeau was a great pairing and most bottles seemed in the $ 35 – 50 range.

Country style dining in a beautiful old country house in Vermont. Two Tannery is rustic and romantic and serves decent comfort food with a few old-fashioned«fancy» dishes. We started off sharing the grilled cheddar, apple and ham appetiser. This was delicious and way less rich than you might think — the apple keeps it light. The menu has a some really good seafood choices and we tried the crabmeat-stuffed shrimp and the grilled rainbow trout. All pronounced delicious. I would say that the service was initially spotty — we arrived, no-one greeted us, and we struggled to get the attention of the hostess and the barman. If you are used to NY style effusiveness and enthusiasm in service levels, the directness of the Vermonters can feel a little brusque. Once we got seated though, the service was great. I’d say 4 stars for this resto in its location(given its competition) — if I transported it to NYC, it would be a 3 stars spot.

Fantastic hidden romantic dining find. Delicious dishes from nutty vermonter(nut crusted chicken stuffed with vt cheddar and ham) to Long Island duck. It’s in a rustic cabin that is literally a TR hunting lodge.

Amazing setting. Wood floors, fireplace. Service = impeccable. Duck confit salad was over the top, lamb cooked perfectly and seasoned nearly perfectly(needed more salt.) Price point was great and to be expected. Wine selection decent, could be improved — you’re paying 50 bucks for a bottle, it better be something more than the 15.99 bottle you passed up at Bottle King on your journey up to VT. Only downside is parking and location — it’s a bit off the beaten path, if it wasn’t for some friends directing us, we would have driven right by it. Love to return when we go back to Mt. Snow in a few weeks.

The best dining option in West Dover and the surrounding area. The charming 18th century wood building, lit with lanterns and fire places and adorned with Teddy Roosevelt paraphernalia provide a relaxed, warm, classic, New England atmosphere. The menu is small and uninspired, but dishes are generally done well, and they know what they do well. The duck and their steaks are always delicious. They have very few appetizers, but mains come with a salad to start. Dessert is Two Tannery’s best course, with great home-made preparations of seasonal favorites like bread pudding and apple crisp.
