Bella’s

My husband took me to Bella’s the night before Valentines day and it was awesome! From great service to very tasty fresh made food and the long stem rose they presented me with. I felt like we were dining in St. Louis at a great fine dining restaurant! I told my husband to bring me back for my birthday for extra points! I have told all my friends to check them out!

We came for lunch on a Friday late in September. Not many people in the ample dining room — six total occupied four-​tops, but only one harried waitress and a barman/​manager for the dining room. There were three of us — me, my wife, and my mother-​in-​law. We ordered two pasta dishes (carbonara and manicotti) which came with salad, and a Tuscan sandwich which didn’t.
The salad was awesome, and the bread as well, but we waited a long time for our entrees — 20+ minutes from the end of salad. That said, most of the food was outstanding — the carbonara and manicotti we’re excellent, fresh and full of flavor, not to heavy on anything.
The Tuscan sandwich, on the other hand, was completely inedible — the prosciutto was cut so thick, my wife could not bite through it, and the piece I tried was tough and grisly. We told the waitress, who returned it to the kitchen, and the manager came to table to ask about it as well. He was very nice about it — he explained that they were having some quality problems with the supplier, and said he would discard the faulty product. At one point, my wife indicated that perhaps the fault was hers — the manager quashed that quickly, explaining that it is never a problem with the customer but with the product. He offered free desserts to make up for the issue.
So minus two stars (one for the wait, one for the sandwich), but plus one for the professional way the problem was handled. If you don’t mind a long wait, it’s worth it for the pasta.

My steak was really good! A little tough, but very flavorful! The potatoes were great and my husbands pasta was fantastic! The bread was super salty, so we weren’t fans, but overall a good dining experience. But on the pricey end so we will probably only go on special occasions.

Good solid eating establishment. We’ve been there 3 – 4 times and had a very nice experience each time. The food was well executed and extremely tasty. The service has always been excellent even when they were extremely busy. Wine list is expanding and the servers are getting better educated on the offerings available.

This place was recommended to us, but I can not recommend it to others. They have a nice menu, but the execution of the food was poor. The food was basically a salt bomb and sloppy. For some reason, the cannelloni resembled a burrito. The calamari was oily and a little burnt. My skate fish just tasted like salt. As for the service, they were trying their best. We may have caught it on an off night, but the price of the food is too high to take a chance.
