Battiston’s of West Hartford

I just listened to my wife speak on the phone with the owner of this Battiston’s (Park and So. Quaker) about an apparent mis-​count situation. I could hear, she was trying to explain and he was interrupting her, not letting her fully explain. My wife is reasonably logical and not one to take advantage.
So the long and the short is that by not respecting her, they’ve lost us as a shirt-​a-​day-​plus customer, and I’m forced to give you a heads-​up that you won’t be respected or appreciated if you ever need to escalate an issue.

This place doesn’t even deserve one star, it should be shut down. I only came to this place because my aunt lives near here and she needed to wash big blankets. The store was old, dusty, and like previous reviewers noted (from 3 years ago) MULTIPLE washing machines were out of order. You’d think they would replace the machines by now… Nope.
When we put our blankets in the first washer, (50 lb, $ 6) the machine took $ 8 worth of quarters. It wouldn’t start after we put in $ 6 so I figured that we miscounted or something. I was pretty sure we did not miscount. I mentioned it to one of the women at the counter and she said we probably miscounted (and offered no additional help or advice) so we put in another $ 2.
Then after the fourth time the machine didn’t start, we called her over and she lifted the flap of the top of the machine, fidgeted with something inside and the machine started. I asked if we could get a refund, to which she replied condescendingly, «I didn’t tell you to put in another $ 2.» And then she proceeded to walk away back to the counter, where she started whispering to the other woman at the counter (and the second woman gave us a look as we walked out). What kind of business do they run? Certainly not a professional or successful one!
Completely unprofessional and rude. Hope people read these reviews and STAY AWAY! I’d rather go to The Wash Tub on Farmington Ave. They are more friendly than this abysmal store. Never coming back, they lost my respect and business. I will also be telling all my family, friends and colleagues in the area to avoid this place like the plague.
Come here only if this is the last laundromat on the planet, if you like being treated like dirt, and having limited selections of washers and dryers. You have been warned.

I get my dress shirts cleaned and pressed at Battistons. Service is much improved. The current staff are welcoming and helpful.
The West Hartford Park Rd location is open 7 days a week. Mon — Fri till 7:30 and Sat, Sun till 6 p.m. I don’t have to worry if I forget to pick up my shirts since I can get them the next morning.
My shirts are always ready on time. Anytime I’ve asked for a shorter pick up time it has been accommodated with no additional charge.
I’m happy with the quality and will continue to utilize them.

They charged me significantly more than they quoted and are very rude.
Avoid this place at all costs.
I dropped off my items, being quoted (on the receipt!) $ 60. When I came to pick them up, I was told the price was now $ 86 because they had selected the wrong type of comforter when giving me the quote. No apology, no offer to charge me the quoted price, just bad attitude.
Ultimately, you won’t know what you’ll end up paying, just that you’ll probably get attitude.

I agree with the reviewer that said this place doesn’t even deserve 1 star. Customer service is horrible. At drop-​off the woman taking our order was far from pleasant. I just figured she must be having an off day. Today when I picked up my dry cleaning, it was the same woman. No smile, flat countenance, no inflection in her voice. I had a coupon, which she rudely explained I couldn’t use because their policy is to present it at drop-​off. I was upset because it was over $ 50 order, but they do have a sign, which I didn’t notice. I even told her, «I understand it’s your policy, but you could be a little nicer while explaining it.» She said sarcastically, «have a nice day» as I walked away. Will never go back, even if it was free. AVOID!

2.) Aesthetics.
Disgusting. Yuck. *spits out, as if he caught something in his mouth from there* it’s dirty, it’s dusty, it’s just old in here. One television an it’s an analog tv. The change machine, which the staff describes as «temperamental» looks outdated, just like the washing machines.

The staff weren’t much help either.
4.) Price:
A 40 pound load is $ 6.00, and an 18 pound load is $ 2.00. Dryers are .25 cents for every 7 minutes.
5.) Impressions:
Expensive washing, dirty place, inefficient equipment. No wifi. This place sucked.

I occasionally drop Dry cleaning here «occasionally» because the experience is not always the greatest. When I need a rush job between the service that picks up and drops off at my home, I may drop a shirt or two here. The staff are cheerful and polite. The end product is good. Unfortunately, I do not think they actually do cleaning at this location so it all has to go somewhere to be cleaned and then brought back, so same day is out. Next day is the best you can do.

DO NOT GO HERE!!! They have crappy washers and dryers, half of which are out of order, and extremely RUDE employees. Go down the street to the one on New Park Ave… they free wifi, free dryers, helpful staff (she came right up to us and asked if we needed help! can you believe that?), TVs to watch… and it is even open 24 hours! This is where we went to finish drying our damp laundry (our stuff had been drying for over 45 minutes and was still damp!). Battistons wouldn’t even refund me a quarter their dryer ate, the attendant told me she was closing 10 minutes prior to closing time, and turned off the lights 5 minutes before closing time, before my stuff was dry and while it was still in the machine!!! I couldn’t even see what I was pulling out of the dryer and putting into my laundry bag.
Maybe people in West Hartford are used to taking their wet clothes out of a coin laundry in the dark, but I for one am not. This place literally left me cold (and damp!) I will never go back… everyone deserves to be treated with a little respect and dignity. At least leave the lights ON while I pull my damp clothes out of the dryer even if you won’t let the dryer run a few more minutes since my dryer burnt out the other day. I wouldn’t have come to this laundromat in the first place if I wasn’t desperate. This place doesn’t even deserve 1 star for such crappy customer service

These guys are AWFUL! They lost a suit and insisted I never gave it to them. They handed me someone else’s stuff with my order and insisted that it was mine. Actually told me that I did not know my own items. Beyond this, the quality of the pressing is terrible. Crushed collars and cuffs, creases that are in the wrong place on the garments and an attitude. DO NOT USE THEM!

This place seems to be going really down hill. Sooo many of the machines are out of service and they aren’t even having them fixed. Also the man who used to be there on Sundays is no longer there. I’m sorry Battiston’s, but we’re breaking up… I just don’t think this going to work out anymore.

This place was horrible. My husband dropped off our dry cleaning and I picked it up. I didn’t have the «ticket» on me but they said they could look it up with my phone number or name. The woman who was helping me was incompetent and the other women (supervisor?) was worse. She was on her personal cell phone and didn’t give an iota to help.
I gave them three phone numbers to check it under and a last name and they couldn’t find it. They insisted that my husband didn’t drop it off at that location. I went all the way home, found the ticket and brought it back to them. It was under one of the phone numbers I had given them and they abbreviated my last name with just an L. They should train their employees to have a systematic way of entering info because they clearly failed and it cost me a lot of time and hassle.
This was by far the worst service of any dry cleaner I have ever been to. The degenerates employed there are horrible. This was the first time I’ve ever used Battiston’s and it will be the last.
